00:00...leaves you and the excitement when you finally get that first race win, let's see who's going to win this one then, race number 2 for the BRSTC Fiesta Juniors, lights go on, we wait for them to go out, they go out now, we're racing for race 2 and the two Dobles get off of the line well, McInerney's going to try and pull into the inside line but he's going to get immediately chopped off there by Isaac Doble, they'll hold the inside line going down to the first corner, Christopher's got a lovely start, he can pull over to that main racing line and try and scamper off down into the crane of curves, that's Lewis Islund trying to
00:29find his way round the outside there at turn run, that's battling with Lindy there as they continue to go side by side heading down into the crane of curves, they are, it was a good start by the two Dobles, back and early up into third place, we've got a real championship fight on our hands here, minus Thomas Merritt and Archie Davies of course but all these guys quick and a massive sideways moment there for the 69 of Aaron Lindy and well we said yesterday about would they survive the first few corners, that's going to be at the very least a safety car again and it wasn't midfield this time.
00:59No it wasn't, yeah that was so unfortunate, a driver who collected them there just got in the side of another car, flicked them up on two wheels and once you've gone two wheels you've got no steering, straight into the side of Harry Lindy there, that is super unfortunate, luckily both drivers seemingly out already and all okay but already examining the damage and thinking oh that's going to be a lot of money, very frustrated drivers down there and we also saw there two more drivers off further up the road.
01:23Yeah Oliver Heron, one of those in 306 had the issues yesterday, that's disappointment and I think a little bit winded for the driver there, it was interesting to hear about the medical poker process from Alec Livesey, bear in mind he just rolled his car in the C1s in qualifying, he was just like so chipper and happy to talk.
01:42It's like they said to you, I was like oh that was nothing for a C1s, that's why.
01:46No safety car, I'm puzzled.
01:48Indeed, McInerney's going for it now, being inside the second place, so late on the brakes of Dara McInerney, gets it stopped as though you can see the yellow flags down crater curves, I don't think he's quite got enough alongside us.
01:58Oh straight on, it goes to 287, that's Max Fenton straight on, down at the first corner, that's going to be a long way for him to get it back out of the kitty litter, we're still green flag, of course yellow's down here through the Crainers, but no safety car just yet.
02:13Yeah that really surprises me, I've got to catch up with Max Fenton, his dad said about inviting me to the launch they had at the start of the year, I didn't get the invite, so they're going to, I don't know whether they canned the launch, safety car, red flag, okay.
02:24So the deliberation, there was deliberation going on in race control, I'm not in any place to criticise race control at all, but there was obviously, are we going to keep it safety car, if it had been the first two cars only, I think probably they might have done that, but taking the decision to red flag it, you know, I take my hat off to race control, I could not do the job, because I haven't been trained for it, so if I had been, you know, something I might do in later years for sure, but the right thing to do, it will calm everybody down.
02:52I did ask a couple of drivers whether there'd been a general chat from the clerk of the course over the evening, Mark Noble, apparently there hadn't, there were a lot of judicials, I was looking at the bulletin board last night, John, and the decisions were, you know, I was back in the hotel, had had me food, and the bulletins were still being published from the judicials, I mean, who'd be a clerk working that late, you know.
03:10Oh my goodness, but there wasn't a general, as far as I'm aware, there wasn't a general warning to all the drivers, I think Mark's trying to let them get on with it.
03:18Exactly, you've got to learn, haven't you, you've got to learn.
03:20Yeah, you have, but equally, you know, with, there were some midfield shenanigans yesterday, weren't there?
03:27There were a few, I think there were a few, yeah, well, we can continue to touch on that, but of course, great to see all the drivers hopping up and out of the car, and seemingly all okay.
03:36I wonder if we can see, if we can see a replay from that camera shot as they headed down through that incident, just with how it unfolded there, it was so, so unfortunate, just two things going wrong, two totally different incidents,
03:46and then both drivers converging on the same piece of tarmac, contact made, and that has done a lot of damage to the front right of Harry Lindy's car there, hasn't it?
03:55That's not going to be a cheap rebuild to get ready for future racing.
03:58Of course, they've still got another race left to go later on today, so is that going to be able to get out?
04:04Pretty unlikely, I think, looking at that damage, but equally, I'm no engineer.
04:08Bit of teacup, be all right, as they always say.
04:10I said we were going to have cliches, didn't I, when I introduced it yesterday.
04:14I think that's the case.
04:15It is, and I'm sorry to make light of it, it's always such a shame to see a broken car.
04:18Really, really hate to see it.
04:20But loads of work.
04:23Unfortunately, I mean, in my experience, Donington and Juniors tends to lead to that kind of thing.
04:29Yeah, it does.
04:30It is one of those circuits that just really creates close battling,
04:34and of course, the more close battling you have, the more issues you're likely to have as well.
04:38As we try to look at a replay there of the incident, we'll see that in a couple of moments' time.
04:43There again is that damage on the front right of Harry Lindy's car.
04:45We can confirm that it was Archie Heron in the 306, who sadly collected him.
04:50Like I say, it was just a bit of contact, went up on two wheels, and nothing he could do from that point.
04:54He was a passenger, one-way ticket to the accident.
04:57And just unfortunately for him, if nothing had happened ahead, he would have landed on all four wheels,
05:00carried on through the gravel, and rejoined.
05:02But due to the incident ahead for Lindy, they just converged there into the gravel trap.
05:07And both drivers all seemed absolutely fine, physically, but emotionally very damaged there.
05:12They're absolutely gutted as they get out of the car, because they know how much that's going to hamper things
05:16heading on through the rest of the season, and of course, through their racing careers.
05:19We were just talking about, before the start of the race, budget always a key factor.
05:23Here we go then, down the crane of curves.
05:25We'll have a look at it again in a minute.
05:26We're getting teased for this replay from Kieran in the box.
05:30We're just waiting to speed that.
05:31But we will see it in a few moments' time.
05:33But like we were saying, yeah, budget's always a crucial thing,
05:35and sadly, things can so easily go wrong out of your control,
05:38and that just eeks and saps further budget from the wallet, doesn't it?
05:42It does.
05:43You know, a lot of people look at the annual budget, you know,
05:45how much does it cost to run a car for the year?
05:46You've really got to have twice that, a lot of team owners will tell you,
05:49to, you know, get you through a serious run at a championship.
05:53So, interesting story with Oliver Heron.
05:56Met him at Silverstone.
05:56Came out for the last couple of rounds last year to retain rookie status for this year,
06:00with 306 on the car, which you probably won't know,
06:04but you might know through Joe Polly, actually.
06:06You know Joe Polly that races in the minis?
06:07I don't.
06:08No? Okay.
06:09Well, anyway, Joe's dad, George, was a multiple champion on the circuits and short circuits,
06:15and ran 306.
06:16So, 306 is actually a very famous number from the 70s.
06:20I mean, a lot of the circuit drivers back then didn't have dedicated numbers,
06:23which we tend to have now, and your number can become your brand.
06:25But 306 was the brand of George Polly, who was world hot world champion,
06:29I think, 19, definitely 76, I want to say 82,
06:32I'm not quite sure, someone will correct me on that.
06:33And I asked Oliver, I said, why 306?
06:36Are you a, were you a Polly fan, or was your dad a Polly fan?
06:39Nope.
06:40So I said, are you not from a short oval background then?
06:42Yes.
06:43So it was really weird coming across this youngster who had a short oval background
06:48and knew the number 306, but that's not why he picked it.
06:53But 306, Joe Polly races in Mini Miglia at the moment.
06:57Let's have a look at this incident then as they come down to the bottom of Craners.
06:59You see the big wobble there for Lindley as he goes sideways,
07:01and here's the contact up and over into the side.
07:04Big, big accident there at the bottom of Craners.
07:07But like we were saying, just so unfortunate.
07:09Yeah, thank you for correcting me there.
07:10Sorry, Oliver Heron, not Archie.
07:11Archie Heron is a driver I've commentated over in Carts.
07:13Oliver there.
07:14Okay.
07:14I'll be
