00:00Isabelus 6th District Representative Faustino Bojidi III was not a well-known figure among Filipinos
00:09until he assumed the House Speakership of the 20th Congress, replacing Martin Romualdez on Wednesday, September 17th.
00:17As flood control corruption allegations sparked criticism, Bojidi's election was aimed at regaining the public trust in the institution.
00:25Di is not new to politics. He served as Mayor of Kauai and Isabella from 1992 to 2001,
00:33Representative of Isabella's 3rd District from 2001 to 2010, and Provincial Governor from 2010 to 2019, and Vice Governor from 2019 to 2025.
00:46Di is part of a political dynasty, with his father Faustino Nang Di Sr. having served both as a Provincial Governor
00:54and a Mayor of Kauaiyan.
00:57In the House of Representatives, Di has two relatives who are incumbent congressmen,
01:01namely Isabella 3rd District Representative Ian Paul Di, and Isabella 5th District Representative Faustino Michael Carlos Di III.
01:11He is also the father of Echagi Mayor Faustino Di V, the former and the first representative of Isabella's newly created 6th District.
01:20His political journey did not come as smooth.
01:24In 2020, Di faced graft and corruption allegations, along with 12 other provincial officials,
01:30over an allegedly anomalous rehabilitation and improvement of the 82-kilometer Ilagan-Devilacan-Isabella Road.
01:38Meanwhile, records from the 20th Congress show that Di has principally authored 20 bills,
01:44including measures granting 5 days of compassionate leave to employees,
01:48creating a special economic zone in Isabella,
01:51protecting the Shera Madre Mountain Range,
01:54and establishing the Philippine Corn Institute.
