01:40Hi.
01:44Hi, little biscuit.
01:46This place is awesome.
01:50Yeah, it's just for a little longer.
01:52Once that gig with HBO comes through,
01:54I'm getting my own place.
01:56In the meantime,
01:58I'm treating myself.
02:00Cheers.
02:02Cheers.
02:04Cheers.
02:06Glad we're making this happen.
02:08Yeah, me too.
02:10Two months of knowing each other and here we are.
02:12You know I'd offer you the role right now.
02:14This is basically just to appease the producers.
02:17Right.
02:18I mean, they have to see something or else I'd be someone who slept with the writer-director
02:22to get a part.
02:23But you knew I thought you were perfect for the role even before all that happened.
02:29Yeah, and you came to visit and the place was romantic and yadda yadda.
02:34I mean, it would have been weird if it didn't happen.
02:36For the record, I don't often let things go that far.
02:40But I feel like it deepened our trust for each other.
02:46Yeah, I agree.
02:48Trust and believe.
02:50Like you always say.
02:55So, I got you this plastic tie from the clinic for your arm.
03:04Wow.
03:06So realistic.
03:07Yeah, the less we leave to the producers imagination, the better.
03:11So, I had an idea on the way over here.
03:14What if, for the audition, we scrapped all this and showed the producers something else?
03:21Remember that night when we were drunk at the diner?
03:23The night we were craving biscuits and gravy when I made up that song.
03:28Ben and Joey went walking down the street.
03:31Ben turned to Joey, said,
03:33Okay.
03:34What'd it go?
03:35Crazy with crazy.
03:36What if...
03:37That was my audition.
03:44That's not the audition.
03:46I told you that the part where it changes for the character is...
03:50He goes from smoking crystal meth to shooting it.
03:53Right.
03:54We've been over this.
03:55Right.
03:56And for the audition, you just want me to inject myself.
03:59With saline solution.
04:01Yes.
04:02Just like we talked about.
04:06But we are looking for that honest moment of euphoria from the character.
04:13We can start when George gets here.
04:15Wait, George is coming?
04:16Oh, damn it.
04:17I forgot to tell you, my friend, the nurse, she had to pick up an extra shift today.
04:26I don't know if I feel comfortable doing this with George here.
04:30George is surrounded by this all the time in his line of work.
04:32And since he inspired the character...
04:34Since George is a super active gay porn star, somehow that gives him authority on how one should inject oneself?
04:39It's just a weird thing to ask someone for an audition.
04:45Do you not trust me?
04:53I will go to the bathroom and fill up a new syringe right now in front of you.
04:57And prove to you that there's nothing weird going on.
05:02Ben?
05:03Why is there a dead catfish in the sink?
05:17I bought it.
05:19In Chinatown.
05:22I was going to gut it and leave it on your pillow.
05:27Why would you do that?
05:29Because this is all a lie.
05:33Don't run from this.
05:38Look, George is on his way and when he gets here, it'll make more sense.
05:45Joey.
05:50I know.
05:58What are you talking about?
05:59Why do you want to hurt me?
06:08You are sabotaging this right now.
06:10This all feels like a sick and twisted plan.
06:17I don't want to hurt you.
06:20When you tell someone that you want to watch them inject themselves with salient solution, it kind of feels like you might want to hurt them.
06:26Okay, I didn't mean to scare you.
06:29I'm not scared. I'm here. If I was scared, I wouldn't have come.
06:31Well, George is great and when he gets here, you'll see.
06:33See what? Because I don't think we're trying to make a movie.
06:36Wow.
06:40This whole time I've known you, all you do is just push yourself further away from the things that you want.
06:44Well, I know I don't want this.
06:45You don't know what you want. You want one thing until something better comes along.
06:47For months, I have prioritized this until I realized I was being lied to.
06:52Lied to?
06:54You were intrigued by what I had to say.
06:56Yes.
06:57And you got this idea of who I am.
07:01Yes.
07:02Then you decided to slaughter a dead catfish and leave it on my bed.
07:08Yes?
07:20You're just as crazy as I am.
07:23Oh yeah?
07:24Hmm?
07:25Joey Schlesinger. I'm just as crazy?
07:27What's up with the fact that you never told me a real last name?
07:30Silver's is a name I go by professionally.
07:32Why? Because of these?
07:34Stalking, breaking, entering. What's up with that?
07:38Get out.
07:40Oh. Catfish got your fucking tongue.
07:42Get out.
07:44Okay. Fine.
07:50Even if this is a story that I'm making up in my head, I just want you to know that I don't think it's your fault.
07:56All the work we've been doing.
07:59I know. I just don't think I can be a part of it anymore.
08:01Well, George is going to be disappointed.
08:04No. Nope. You can't guilt trip me with that.
08:07I fought for you.
08:08I want to believe you.
08:10George is coming.
08:11There's no script. There's no movie. You're not even who you say you are.
08:14You said it's not my fault.
08:16It's not your fault. What they did to you when you were a child, but...
08:19But you're a fraud.
08:21It's best if I leave.
08:26Oh, the catfish.
08:37Please don't contact me anymore.
08:41Blocked.
08:42Great.
08:43George. Do I know you? Oh, no, sorry. Just a fan.
13:39Let's go.
14:39I would describe my drag, if I would even call it drag, is
15:08visually non-binary, in that there's a feminine face, but there are masculine features such
15:16as a hairy chest or hairy legs, so kind of blending things that don't go together.
15:24Drag is inherently socially engaged. You can't have a society without drag, and you can't
15:30have drag without society, because drag is a rejection of society, it's a rejection of
15:36cultural norm and stereotype and construct. But if no one's actually seen you rebel and
15:42reject the society you're mocking, did it even happen in the first place? If a drag queen
15:48falls over in the forest and there's no one around to hear it, did it still make a noise?
15:54I kind of theorised that current contemporary drag performers, who are kind of maybe new
15:58wave renaissance drag, their drag persona is an extension of who they are as a queer artist.
16:07Which I definitely identify with, because whenever I put on my costumes and perform, I never think
16:13I'm performing as someone else, I think I'm just performing as me. But dressed up, because
16:18if you're not dressed up, no one knows that you need to be looked at. But when you're dressed
16:22up, everyone knows that they have to look at you, so that's how you get the attention really.
16:30I started doing drag makeup in the summer of 2016, mainly because I was bored. And then when
16:36I started A Levels, other people liked it. And I do live streams and talk to people. A lot of what I do
16:43is revolved around hyper femininity. I'm questioning that. Why I like learning about it so much is sort
16:49of figuring out my own gender identity, coming to terms with being non-binary. It is once starting
16:58university and learning more about Norwich's queer scene that I thought that it's something that I could
17:03continue doing. If that had to be categorised, it's more like club kid, sort of just performer.
17:12I suppose it's hard to sort of fit it into a box or a binary or whatever, when you don't quite fit
17:18into one. As soon as you say, oh I do drag, people assume you do woman illusion. Which to an extent,
17:27sometimes. It's not based on the idea of looking feminine. I feel like I compare my drag a lot to
17:35people that are quite girly, because I see them doing really well. And it almost feels like this
17:40drag isn't the right drag. To the extent of having been told before that this isn't drag.
17:47I view our drag as just as good as anyone else is. Yeah, it's equally as valid.
17:50The House of Days is a non-exclusive drag collecting. A lot of drag places around the
18:03minute have very funny definitions about what drag is. And we're just here to remind everyone that
18:10that's not for them to decide, it's for the performers to decide.
18:12The Norwich queer scene now engages with a queer fantasy more so than it does female impersonation.
18:22And the audiences who come to our shows have kind of welcomed it. They enjoy it. They think it's
18:28really cool. I'd say it's quite close-knit. Like we all know each other. We're all friends with each
18:35other. And we all get influenced by each other slightly, I'd say. It's diverse as well though,
18:40and that's what I find quite interesting. That everyone is accepting, but everyone does different
18:46things. The drag you go out in is basically a big symbol to all the other queerdos around that are
18:54like, oh you're one of us, you're one of the queer scene. And it just helps people gravitate together
19:01and there's just a great sense of community among us I think. We love a quick face.
19:08The first jug in the gallery was in November 2018. I kind of created this exhibition and adopted the
19:18Norwich queer scene. As well as having art on the walls, it would have a live show. And that live
19:24show would feature the performers who were on the walls as artwork.
19:28Mine's partly a character, but partly sort of like an inward projection. I based them a year younger
19:36than me. Things that I had previously gone through, they were then projected a year later into drag.
19:44It's the first song when I started sort of doing drag that I was like, I'm going to do this one day.
19:48And it means a lot to me.
19:55Inside there is still a person who thinks and feels and is still human. And people probably forget that
20:01when they see people dressed up.
20:05You've got to be aware going into it as a non-binary AFAB person, you're almost more likely
20:11to get on the list to be a showcase of diversity. Automatically people say, oh, you're a bio queen.
20:19I mean, I'm not trying to make a message. I'm just dressed up in an aesthetic way.
20:24Explaining that and navigating that is quite difficult, but I find it nice because when I
20:30dress up femininely, it makes me feel like I am directly playing with gender and I'm dressing up
20:36this agenda. And it sort of reassures me in where I am as well.
20:43I think Norwich has a really progressive and welcoming drag community. But I don't know if
20:50the rest of England knows that. But now I think Liz is just trying to have fun and kind of celebrate
20:59who they already are rather than trying to emulate other people. Just being a practicing queer artist,
21:07I guess.
21:09I hope that in the wider scale of things, it will pay off eventually. People will realise that
21:15we have built ourselves from the ground up. In the future, I would hope that we are elevated from
21:20where we currently are because it's what we deserve.
21:23To be part of something like this, we're in control of the current and the near future.
21:31I might not want to be a famous drag performer, but I want to work with other people.
21:38I would like people to see me as I see others. I want to be able to look at myself and be like,
21:43that was good. I'm going to do that again with no changes. I feel like I am going towards that.
21:48Instead of thinking of it in a family setting, we're all basically children.
21:55Yeah. And we're running around.
21:56And we're all just running around, looking stupid, doing stupid things.
22:00Because we can.
22:03And because it's our scene, like, there's no one telling us what to do.
22:07We're all on this level. There's no one above us being like,
22:11you can't do that because I said you can't do that.
22:13It's exactly what we want to do and it's our own special thing.
22:21And not many people in this world get that experience.
22:35I'm so excited.
22:43And I want people in this world get to me.
22:45But I'm so excited.
22:47I, I'm so excited about the future of what we want to do to do.
22:49And I'll see you next to my schedule.
22:50And I'll see you next week.
22:51I will see you next week.
22:54If you have a special episode, I'll see you next week.
22:57But I'm so excited.
22:58And I'll see you next week.
23:00I'm so excited.
23:02And I'll see you next week.
23:02You're all right.
24:03Welcome to Columbus Savings Bank where hospitality comes first, kindness comes second, and your
24:15financial affairs are a very close third.
24:18My name is Salvatore.
24:19Is there something I can help you with?
24:22Well, I'd hope so.
24:24You're like the third customer service rep that's sent my way.
24:26You have an account with us, Ms. Beckett?
24:28Yes, and I'd like to access.
24:29I have your account number.
24:30No, that's the thing.
24:31I don't have it.
24:32I was just speaking to your colleague and she's...
24:35I'll take your social security number.
24:36I don't have a social.
24:38How can you not have a social?
24:39Every American is born with a...
24:41I'm not American.
24:42I'm being deported from the country and I have to move my money to a foreign savings account.
24:46Oh, it's so far.
24:59It's not that far.
25:01It's not so much walking.
25:04Thanks for waiting, Ms. Beckett.
25:14Ms. Beckett.
25:15I hope the wait wasn't long.
25:17Yeah, it was.
25:18Can I have your full name again?
25:21Bellamy Beckett.
25:22And your date of birth.
25:24Your address.
25:25Your emergency contact.
25:26Your brother's maiden name.
25:27Your bra size.
25:27Your grandfather's burial place.
25:29Your first pet.
25:30It was a Japanese fighting fish called I-Gonna.
25:33Would you please just get me into my account?
25:35Oh, she said please.
25:38Okay, let's see.
25:41I've put in all your information, but some of your responses are incorrect.
25:45I can't allow you access to your...
25:47Sal.
25:48My good, good friend, Sal.
25:52Did you spell my last name with one T?
25:55Or two?
25:57Two.
25:58There's one.
25:59There's one bloody T in my last name, you twat.
26:03Please hold.
26:16Hold there, cowgirl.
26:18We're really high up.
26:20I've got you.
26:22What if I fall?
26:24I wonder if that happens.
26:27If I wouldn't do.
26:29But I don't think so.
26:34Marry me.
26:36Let's get married.
26:37Let's get married.
26:39Helmin, you're crazy.
26:41Of course I'm crazy.
26:42Oh, what am I going to do with you?
26:51That's Sal again from Columbus Savings Bank.
26:54Hospitality comes first, kindness comes second,
26:57and your financial affairs are a very close third.
27:00Oh, for fuck's sake!
27:02Save me? The absolutely ridiculous spiel.
27:05Did you get into my account or not?
27:07I did.
27:09And you just have to pay our closing fee.
27:12I want a wedding. A real wedding.
27:27A bright Zillow reception that'll make my sisters jealous.
27:30My family, your family, photographer.
27:33A real photographer, not your hipster cousin
27:36who fucks with a 35 millimeter.
27:38I don't want it to be forced.
27:40It's not a get out of jail free card, it's our lives together.
27:43But, Sal, we can't have that.
27:45If we don't get married now, they'll send me back to England
27:48and you seriously think you'll love me harder 5,000 miles away.
27:53Listen, Sal, I've got an international flight.
28:08Two months left on my lease that I've still got to pay for.
28:10Student loans coming out of my ears and now I've got to pay for this too?
28:14It's standard procedure, Ms. Beckett.
28:17If you read the terms of condition...
28:19I'll give you a condition. I'll give you a block of kidneys.
28:20I can do that right now.
28:22That won't be necessary, ma'am.
28:23Destroying my kidneys does not fulfill the cancellation fee.
28:27Look at you are professional.
28:37Stop it.
28:38I want Siri to check my visa.
28:41Everything's gonna be alright.
28:43That's so easy for you to say.
28:45You're like an anchor to the ocean wave not to mind the time.
28:48I'm scared of things I'm not even scared of.
28:58Because if I'm not afraid of losing something, I'll end up losing it.
29:01It's like the fear of losing it is the only reason I haven't lost it.
29:05Like when I fly on planes and I have to imagine the entire flight we're going down
29:10because the one moment I calm myself, that's the moment we're going down.
29:14I've got you.
29:17Why can't we just get married?
29:20I'm ready. Why aren't you?
29:22Be too soon.
29:24Yeah, but it would make all my problems go away.
29:29Like that.
29:31Let me tell you what.
29:33They try kicking out the country.
29:35You and me.
29:36We'll get hitched.
29:42I'm nothing.
29:43If not a green card.
29:45We will do it.
29:46I will find a new card.
29:47I will do it.
29:48I am not sure.
29:49You will see you send me an new card.
29:50My Facebook page mr.
29:52Noobly.
29:53Your application to renew your U.S. work visa has been accepted.
30:14In order to officially renew your visa, you must make an...
30:17It's been nothing if not a green card.
30:24Miss Beckett? Is there anything else I can do for you?
30:47It's been nothing to do for you.
31:02It's been nothing to do for you.
31:08If you are maybe a friend, you must make an advice.
31:14Even if you have Claudio Medo or Vendor or знач ships京.
31:18...
31:19...
31:20...
31:23...
31:27...
31:29By the way, the ones now gods give us pain.
31:34I'll use a word for you.
