00:00live from the black country we are black country radio now black country radio is a local radio
00:10station based here in the west midlands it operates under the community radio license
00:15and it broadcasts to the black country and parts of birmingham on fm dab and online as well and
00:22the black country radio began life as two separate stations and they merged luckily well exactly 10
00:28years ago so we're celebrating the 10th anniversary now of what is known as a black country radio and
00:34there's also black country extra so let's find a little bit more about about the station with me
00:39is keith horsewall who's chairman of the station that's true i've been chair uh for a good number
00:47of years now here in these lovely studios in cable plaza in briley hill black country radio is a kind
00:53of local radio tree your latest on the roads and in stairbridge temporary traffic lies due to gas
01:00mines work on brettel lane in both directions near clockfield drive the community is really big
01:07at black country radio that's exactly what what we're here for so it's not just about us being here
01:12we are here for the for the listener and and that's what it's all about black country extra is a remarkable
01:19uh remarkable uh remarkable station in the sense it links with about 60 groups uh or that you
01:27wouldn't otherwise hear wouldn't get normal exposure on the normal radio and even if they did they'd get
01:33three minutes now we get a full hours and regular slots and we just facilitate their program so it could
01:39be anything from uh cruise which is a bereavement charity ai alcoholics anonymous to somebody who's doing a
01:47fishing program or a classic car show or the throstles which is about the baggies there are other
01:53football clubs available locally and the time is spent over to them so they construct the show
01:59um and they choose the music and their guests and we're here just to and give them more air time
