00:00I was nothing about three years ago. I'm here now.
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:06And today, we're celebrating the most deserving wins from the 2025 Emmys
00:10and shining a light on those nominees who were overlooked.
00:14You know what I think? I think the second you get your wife back, you forget I ever existed.
00:21Number 5. Robbed. Jenny Slate.
00:24Outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or movie.
00:28I'm so sorry. Sorry.
00:30I'm going to interrupt you and ask a lot of questions because that's how my ADHD presents itself.
00:34Not that I, I don't know if I actually have ADHD, but I'm pretty sure I do.
00:37Would you mind just going a bit slower and then I can probably take like Steve notes?
00:41Not many people watched Dying for Sex,
00:45so it's understandable why Jenny Slate's performance was overlooked.
00:49Slate starred opposite Michelle Williams as Nikki Boyer,
00:52a struggling actor and free spirit who sets aside her own life to help her best friend
00:57pursue one last mission for pleasure after she is diagnosed with cancer.
01:01Just give me one second, I'm so, so sorry.
01:04You're not here.
01:05I'm sorry.
01:06Babe, it's okay. It's okay.
01:08No, I feel like it's just going to get a little bit bigger.
01:11Just let me...
01:11Based on a real person, the character demanded a delicate balance of playful spontaneity
01:18and emotional grounding, which Slate delivered with precision.
01:22Of course, eventual winner Erin Doherty was remarkable as a child psychologist in adolescence,
01:28but this was a career best performance from Slate.
01:32After years of consistently strong work, winning this Emmy would have been a satisfying climax for her.
01:37I've been awake for 30 hours.
01:39I'm wearing toilet paper as underwear.
01:41Are you asking me if I can let Molly stop breathing in front of me?
01:46Yes.
01:47Number 5.
01:48Deserved.
01:49The Studio.
01:50Outstanding Comedy Series.
01:52Anyone who watched the studio knew it was destined to win the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
01:58Co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, the freshman comedy follows Rogen as a newly minted studio
02:05executive torn between making quality films and meeting the financial demands of the business.
02:10When this breaks on deadline, I'm going to look like a genius.
02:14All those people who wrote posts and articles about what a dumb schmuck I am,
02:19they're going to have to write new posts and new articles about what a genius I am.
02:23The show was firing on all fronts.
02:25Writing, directing, performances, its ambitious long takes, and an endless list of celebrity cameos,
02:32all of which melded into a distinctive and genuinely hilarious experience.
02:36No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. This performance, it's inauthentic.
02:40I promise it, it's nothing, yeah.
02:41I saw that look.
02:42What look?
02:43I saw that look.
02:43Nope.
02:44It's a furtive look. It was furtive.
02:46We are not being furtive.
02:47Plus, its biting satire of Hollywood and its inner workings is exactly the kind of self-roast the industry loves.
02:54It shattered the record for the most trophies won by a comedy in one night,
02:59and allowed Rogen to tie the record for the most individual wins.
03:02Without him, the film would not have been made, so I want to take this opportunity to say thank you so much.
03:11Number 4. Robbed. Harrison Ford. Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.
03:19As one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, it was quite surprising that Harrison Ford only received his first Emmy nomination in 2025, at the age of 83.
03:29That nomination came for his role as Dr. Paul Rhodes, an arrogant psychotherapist in Shrinking.
03:35You always say your patient's well-being is all that matters to you.
03:39Yeah.
03:40You think Sean doesn't know that?
03:42He will say anything to keep you happy.
03:47The performance brought Ford some of the strongest reviews of his decades-long career, with many critics naming him the frontrunner,
03:54in a category stacked with past winners like Coleman Domingo and Eben Moss Bachrach.
04:00No. In fact, I'm deeply proud. And if you ever feel you need me, I'll be here for you.
04:10However, in a twist hardly anyone saw coming, the award went to Jeff Hiller for his standout performance in the criminally underrated Somebody Somewhere.
04:19While Hiller's win was equally deserving, Ford's shocking loss left many of his fans stunned.
04:25The road's gonna get tougher and tougher. But I do know that I'll get through it. Because of everyone, everyone in this room.
04:37Number 4. Deserved.
04:39Catherine Lanassa.
04:41Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
04:44All I know is he still blames himself for Adamson's death, so if he's a little prickly today, give him a pass, okay?
04:52Great.
04:53The 2025 Emmy for Best Supporting Drama Actress was a hotly contested category, even just among the nominees from The White Lotus.
05:02The HBO anthology series fielded four actors, all of whom delivered career-defining performances.
05:09And then there was also Patricia Arquette, nominated for her chilling turn in Severance.
05:14But among this crowded field, the award ultimately went to first-time nominee Catherine Lanassa,
05:20whose performance as the warm-but-no-nonsense nurse Dana Evans in The Pit made her an instant fan favorite.
05:27Hey! That's enough! Jesus almighty, I don't believe what I'm seeing!
05:32What do you people think you are, huh? This ain't Philly? This is a hospital, for Christ's sakes! What's the matter with you?
05:39Her victory may have surprised many, but it was well-earned. Lanassa stood out among The Pit's strong ensemble,
05:47infusing her character with rare grit and compassion, so it was truly incredible to see all of her hard work pay off.
05:54I just honestly don't know what I'm gonna do without you.
05:58If I get it out, you always do.
06:03Number 3. Robbed. Colin Farrell. Outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie.
06:09The show of love, of what he meant. Can you imagine to be remembered like that?
06:17HBO's The Penguin, a spinoff of 2022's The Batman, premiered to overwhelmingly positive reviews for its writing, direction, and performances.
06:27But despite all of that acclaim, it was almost entirely shut out of the limited series categories by adolescents.
06:34One of those categories was for Outstanding Lead Actor, which saw the trophy go to Stephen Graham instead of Colin Farrell.
06:41Listen, I paid off my debts.
06:44Yeah, yeah, the comment. Not to me.
06:47Okay.
06:49Okay? Well, you think I don't matter?
06:52This result was quite surprising, since Farrell appeared to have everything in his favor.
06:57A recognizable name, a powerhouse performance, and prior awards from The Critic's Choice, Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild.
07:05Considering The Penguin was conceived as an intense character study of Farrell's role,
07:10which he delivered with chilling precision, many felt he was the more deserving contender.
07:15It's just this. Survival. Security. Pleasure.
07:22They don't give out awards for dying in the projects.
07:24Number 3. Deserved.
07:26Kristen Milioti.
07:28Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.
07:31While adolescents swept the Limited Series categories,
07:35Kristen Milioti was the only actor from The Penguin who took home an Emmy,
07:39and it was well-deserved.
07:41Have you heard from Alberto?
07:43Sofia, please.
07:45Al?
07:45He went out last night, he refused his bodyguards, and he never came home.
07:49Sofia, that's enough.
07:49After years of playing thankless roles in shows like Fargo and Black Mirror,
07:54Milioti finally got the opportunity to fully showcase her wealth of skills as Sofia Falcone.
07:59The Penguin may have been centered around Colin Farrell's titular crime lord,
08:03but Milioti stole every scene with her gripping portrayal of a calculated,
08:08vengeful anti-hero fighting to reclaim her family's legacy in Gotham City.
08:13The real thorn in my side is that unlike everyone here,
08:18I was innocent.
08:22Even in a category stacked with heavy hitters like Cate Blanchett and Michelle Williams,
08:27there was just no one more deserving of that trophy than Milioti.
08:31Just because somebody knows something,
08:33doesn't mean that they don't need to hear it from the person who hurt them.
08:37Don't, Sofia, don't.
08:38I will never get that.
08:38I love it.
08:39From my father.
08:40Number 2.
08:42Robbed.
08:42Kathy Bates.
08:44Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
08:46You knew that, well, Brexit took those documents 14 years ago,
08:51and you didn't come forward.
08:53And people died.
08:55Heading into Emmy night,
08:56Kathy Bates was undoubtedly the frontrunner for lead drama actress.
09:00She earned her nomination for portraying Madeline Kingston,
09:04a retired lawyer who returns to the profession to take down the firm she believes was complicit in her daughter's death.
09:10One of those three hit documents that could have taken opioids off the market 10 years earlier.
09:17Think of how many lives that could have saved.
09:20Bates played the part to perfection,
09:22capturing every layer of the character as she shifted through multiple personas in search of the truth.
09:27Had she won,
09:28Bates would have been the oldest recipient in the category at the age of 77,
09:33as well as the first winner from a major broadcast network since Viola Davis in 2015.
09:38I have no contempt for you.
09:42But I will do what's right by my child.
09:45At the expense of my children?
09:47The truth is coming out one way or another.
09:50However, the honor ultimately went to Britt Lauer for her role in Severance,
09:55an equally impressive and deserving performance.
09:58Number 2.
09:59Deserved.
10:00Owen Cooper.
10:01Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
10:04The Netflix miniseries Adolescence was a huge success,
10:08both on the streaming platform and at the 2025 Emmys.
10:12Among its many honors,
10:14none felt more deserved than the award won by actor Owen Cooper.
10:17Did you do it?
10:23No.
10:26Promise.
10:30Promise.
10:31At just 14 when he was cast,
10:34Cooper played Jamie Miller,
10:35a teenager accused of killing his classmate,
10:38for which he won the Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series,
10:42beating out veterans like Javier Bardem and Bill Camp.
10:44Despite having no prior professional experience,
10:48Cooper was a natural on screen.
10:50Okay.
10:50Go on.
10:52Go on what?
10:53Is that what this is all about?
10:55Why do you call him angry?
10:56He just gets mad.
10:58We all do.
10:59He brilliantly captured the character's frantic energy,
11:02balancing it with tender, childlike vulnerability.
11:05No one else could compare.
11:07With his victory,
11:08Cooper made history as the youngest male winner in any acting category.
11:13Are you alright?
11:13You look a bit red.
11:16Did I scare you when I shouted?
11:20She wrote this on your Instagram.
11:21You mean I'm only 13?
11:23Number 1.
11:24Robbed.
11:25Adam Scott.
11:26Outstanding lead actor in a drama series.
11:29Noah Wiley was outstanding in the pit,
11:32delivering a truly layered performance
11:34that harked back to the golden days of television.
11:36However, absolutely nothing on TV this year came close to Adam Scott in Severance.
11:42You know what?
11:42I don't even know who this team is.
11:45I told you.
11:46I want my team.
11:49Which part of that don't you understand?
11:51Playing Mark Scout,
11:52Scott embodied two very different versions of the same man.
11:55One grieving and detached on the outside,
11:59and another stuck in the sterile corporate world,
12:01trying to piece together an existential puzzle.
12:04They just disappeared her.
12:06And if we let this happen to Miss Casey,
12:08then who's going to step up when it happens to us?
12:11Scott had to shift from dry humor to devastating grief,
12:15to thriller levels of suspense,
12:17sometimes all in a single scene.
12:19The season finale alone,
12:21where both versions of Mark collide emotionally,
12:24showed a level of range that is rare,
12:26even in prestige television.
12:28I think that I disappear along with every indie down there.
12:33What do you want from me?
12:35We are in this together.
12:37Can't you just trust me?
12:39Few performances this decade have been as inventive,
12:43and Scott should have been the obvious choice.

13:02Number 1.
13:03Deserved.
13:04Tramell Tillman.
13:05Outstanding supporting actor in a drama series.
13:07And as I'm duly swamped,
13:10I shall leave you to read it in solitude.
13:19Many acting categories at the 2025 Emmys
13:22were highly competitive,
13:23with everyone divided until the envelopes were opened.
13:27However, one category felt pretty much settled from the start,
13:31supporting actor in a drama series.
13:33While every other nominee turned in great work,
13:35this award was destined for Tramell Tillman.
13:39Tillman was nominated for his role as Seth Milchick in Severance,
13:42the severed floor manager whose role expanded into one of the main antagonists in the second season.
13:48You have threatened collegial murder in the pond of Woe's Hollow.
13:52For this, there can be no penalty but immediate and permanent dismissal.
13:57Tillman's performance was extraordinary.
13:59He elevated every scene with his sharp comedic timing,
14:02and his ability to depict menace without ever going ham.
14:06Devour feculence.
14:12It means...
14:15His win was not only well-deserved, but also historic,
14:21marking the first time a black actor and an openly gay actor won in that category.
14:27Which of the wins at the 2025 Emmys did you agree with?
14:31And which nominees did you think should have won?
14:33Let us know in the comments.
14:35There are far too many people to thank for one speech.
14:39So I'll whittle it down.
14:41Thank you, Sal Saperstein.
