00:00Jeep is very well known for its car that are off-road capable and do have all-wheel drive but
00:12up until now that small Avenger here did not have such a version that changes now
00:17with the 4xe that we're gonna check out welcome to ref the drivetrain for the new Avenger 4xe is
00:33already known from the Stellantis brand a 1.2 liter turbo engine delivering 100 kilowatts 136 horsepower
00:41combined with a 21 kilowatt electric engine but what's new for the 4xe version is an additional
00:5121 kilowatt electric engine at the rear axle that way the car has a total system output of 145 horsepower
01:00107 kilowatts
01:03what's interesting about the electric engine at the rear axle is it has a transmission with a ratio
01:15of 22.7 to 1 and that way it delivers up to 1900 Newton meters of torque that way the car can drive
01:25uphill with a gradient of up to 40 percent and even if the front axle does not have any grip on the
01:32surface the car can still manage a gradient of 20 percent
01:42with that drivetrain the 4xe makes the dash from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour in nine and a half seconds
01:49and the top speed is 194 kilometers an hour which is 10 kilometers an hour more than the normal hybrid
01:57version with only front-wheel drive
02:06the general driving impression is absolutely okay of course it's an SUV so you're sitting a little higher
02:12than you would in some other cars and you have a good overview however it is not exactly that clear to
02:20where the car ends but as usual these cars nowadays they have parking sensors cameras that will allow
02:30you to see where you're actually going even though you cannot physically do it yourself
02:34the interior is not too noisy you definitely hear some of the wind noises and if you go a little faster
02:49on the highway for example then you will also hear the tires but all in all for a car in the B segment it's
02:57absolutely decent
03:05by the way I have found the mother of all strange indicator noises I mean listen to that
03:14this sounds just like the old big clocks that you would find at your grandparents house except of course it
03:27is a little faster and rhythm than those clocks were but the sound itself it's just the same
03:34the Avenger measures 4.08 meters long 1.77 meters high and 1.98 meters wide including the mirrors placing
03:45it in the subcompact SUV class the interior of the Jeep is decent of course you can see that you have quite a
03:55lot of plastic but that's absolutely okay considering the way the plastic looks for example that right
04:03here with that matte finish looks really good so no problem that this is plastic here it's okay of course
04:11they did it because there are spaces to store things away and that means you will touch that a lot so
04:18better make it from plastic that way it will keep itself from getting too much scratches or anything
04:32what I really like is that the Jeep has physical buttons for climate control which means you don't
04:40have to do that with the touch screen talking about touch screen that screen is rather small if you compare
04:46it to other screens in recent cars but it's still absolutely okay it does not have a built-in navigation
04:54system however of course it has android auto and apple carplay so you can use those to navigate with that car
05:08the instrument cluster is also digital you can very well read it it looks quite decent what I also like
05:15about the steering wheel is those buttons right here are made of plastic but they have a matte finish to
05:21them that also looks very good
05:30what's really good about the interior of the Jeep is you have a lot of space to store things away not only
05:36over there which I already talked about but down here you can even put bigger bottles you have cup holders
05:43down here and even more storage space under the armrest the only thing I find a little bit strange
05:50is that down here where you have the USB sockets and also the place for wireless smartphone charging
05:59it is rather down low I can only imagine that Jeep did this to prevent you from reaching for your phone
06:08while driving because in Germany at least this is not allowed
06:19the space in the back is absolutely okay if you consider that this is a B segment SUV so rather small
06:25rather compact I have a little bit of leg room left the seat is set to my height so 1 meter 80 and I can
06:34still sit here quite comfortably talking about comfortable the seats are also very nice rather
06:40soft but you can definitely sit on them for longer periods of time what's a little bit strange and I
06:47don't know why they did this is that you only have one USB-C socket right here I think there would have
06:53been enough space to put two the 4xe has a ground clearance of 21 centimeters and it can move through
07:12puddles of water with a depth of up to 40 centimeters which is quite impressive and might come in handy
07:21depending on where you will take your car the Avenger 4xe is built for rugged terrain featuring optimized
07:29off-road angles with 22 degrees front and 35 degrees rear approach and a 21 degree ramp angle the select
07:37terrain system lets the drivers switch between modes to suit different surfaces and conditions
07:43as usual with most cars nowadays the Jeep Avenger can also be connected to a Jeep app and that way you
07:58can always keep an eye on the state and also the location of your car
08:03since Jeep is also part of the Stellantis group just as Opel and others it is no wonder that they also
08:19decided to put Jet GPT in their car and that way you can talk to your car like you would talk to a friend
08:29or at least like you would talk to your smartphone in terms of hey Siri or anything else
08:43the entry-level price for the Avenger 4xe is around 35,600 euros in Germany which is quite some money
08:54for a car that is placed in the BSUV segment however you also get quite a lot of things for that and
09:01that's especially true for the all-wheel drive
09:11as usual and also as required by law the car will warn you if you're going over the speed limit
09:19unfortunately there is no direct button to mute all the assistance systems however there is a button
09:28with a small car on it here under the touch screen and if you press that it takes you to a shortcuts
09:34menu and in the shortcut menu you can add for example the lane keeping assist but also the excessive
09:41speed warning and then with the press on the touch screen you can deactivate that sound so i've already
09:47seen better solutions to that but also worse
10:01all in all the new Jeep Avenger 4xe is a very decent car with some good standard equipment a very
10:09nice look and good off-road capabilities the entry-level price of around 34 000 euros in Germany
10:16is okay considering what you get but if you just want 4x4 wheel drive for let's say a little snow or
10:24ice here and then and don't really want to go off-road then you might want to consider looking at the
10:30dacia duster because that one is also available as a four-wheel driven version and there the entry-level
10:36price is just over 26 000 euros in Germany the Jeep Avenger 4xe is a strong addition to the lineup aimed at
10:44drivers who plan to regularly head off-road or tow trailers its design is attractive standard
10:51equipment generous and the off-road capability more than enough for most drivers on the downside the
10:57price is kind of high and it's missing a dedicated mute button for the assistance systems
