00:50New York Governor Kathy Hochul has endorsed Democratic Socialist Zohra Mandani in the New York City mayoral race.
00:57What President Trump says about her announcement.
01:00This is NTD Evening News, live from our global headquarters in New York City. Here's Tiffany Meyer.
01:18Good evening and thank you for joining us tonight.
01:20The White House doubles down on condemning political violence after the fatal shooting of conservative thought leader Charlie Kirk.
01:28We go now live to NTD's Mario Tzu at the White House.
01:31Good evening, Mari.
01:32In the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination, there are those celebrating his death, claiming that Charlie Kirk propagated hateful rhetoric.
01:39Conversely, the White House is saying it's these erroneous claims that led to political violence, including the assassination.
01:45How is the administration planning to address this?
01:48Good evening to you too, Tiff.
01:53Yes, the White House is doubling down today on condemning all forms of political violence and radicalization in the wake of Kirk's assassination.
02:01And President Trump tonight, just moments ago, is saying that designating Antifa, a domestic terrorist organization, is something that he would do.
02:10Take a look.
02:12Antifa is terrible.
02:14Are there other groups that you can make up?
02:16There are other groups, yeah, there are other groups.
02:18We have some pretty radical groups and they got away with murder.
02:21And also, I've been speaking to the attorney general about bringing Rico against some of the people that you've been reading about that have been putting up millions and millions of dollars for agitation.
02:31These aren't protests.
02:33These are crimes.
02:34You can see they're professional agitators.
02:36I had one the other night.
02:37I had four the other night, all in one group.
02:39Total phonies that started to scream when I got into a restaurant, oh, you know.
02:47Vice President J.D. Vance today is hosting the Charlie Kirk show to honor his friend.
02:54And he was joined with other Trump administration officials.
02:57And while much of the show honored Kirk's legacy and his life, a large part of it also focused on making sure to prevent something like this from ever happening again.
03:06So the Trump administration is saying that they're going to go after the NGO network that foments, facilitates, and engages in violence, with President Trump announcing that these organizations are already under investigation.
03:18Take a look.
03:20When you look at the agitators, the American flag burnings all over the place, you know, they're already under major investigation.
03:26We wouldn't celebrate if something happened on their side, and we don't.
03:30These are sick people.
03:31And Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, condemns what he calls a growing domestic terrorist movement in the U.S.
03:39Miller says that people celebrating and cheering Charlie Kirk's assassination is not a fringe phenomenon, but extends to federal workers, bureaucrats, educators, professors, and nurses.
03:48The organized doxing campaigns, the organized riots, the organized street violence, the organized campaigns of dehumanization, vilification, posting people's addresses, combining that with messaging that's designed to trigger and incite violence.
04:01And the actual organized cells that carry out and facilitate the violence, it is a vast domestic terror movement.
04:07Vice President Vance characterizes this violence as a collection of forces like a pyramid.
04:12Not every member of that pyramid would commit a murder.
04:15In fact, over 99%, I'm sure, would not.
04:18But by celebrating that murder, many of these people are creating an environment where things like this are inevitably going to happen.
04:27We can thank God that most Democrats don't share these attitudes, and I do.
04:31Vance recounts being harassed at Disneyland while with his wife and kids.
04:35He also shares the story of a senior White House staffer who had people in his neighborhood hand out leaflets telling people what he looked like and where he lived, encouraging neighbors to harass him just after Kirk's assassination.
04:46The vice president says that while these people don't constitute the majority of Americans, he urges Americans to unite in condemnation of the actions and ideas that killed Charlie Kirk.
04:55There is no unity with someone who lies about what Charlie Kirk said in order to excuse his murder.
05:01There is no unity with the people who celebrate Charlie Kirk's assassination.
05:06And there is no unity with the people who fund these articles, who pay the salaries of these terrorist sympathizers, who argue that Charlie Kirk, a loving husband and father, deserved a shot to the neck because he spoke words with which they disagree.
05:23Vance and Miller say that they will do their best in the coming months to use all resources at the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and throughout the government to identify, dismantle and uproot the terrorist networks that led to Kirk's assassination.
05:40Tiff, back to you.
05:42All right, Mari, thanks for those updates.
05:45And authorities have new details about the man suspected of assassinating Charlie Kirk last week.
05:50Officials say they now have DNA evidence and text messages revealing a potential motive for the killer.
05:56NTD's Jack Bradley reports from Utah County Jail.
06:00Behind me is where Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect involved in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, is being held without bail at Utah County Jail.
06:10Robinson is the sole suspect in the assassination, which happened last Wednesday in front of a crowd of thousands at Utah Valley University.
06:19Investigators have now found text messages in which Robinson allegedly wrote that he has the chance to kill Charlie Kirk and that he would.
06:27His family has collectively told investigators that he subscribed to left-wing ideology and even more so in these last couple of years.
06:37And he had a text message exchange.
06:41He, the suspect, with another individual in which he claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for.
06:51DNA evidence may link back to Robinson as well, including a screwdriver that was found on the roof where Robinson allegedly shot Kirk from and a towel wrapped around the firearm that was abandoned in a nearby wooded area.
07:03The DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody.
07:14The father informed us per interview of him that he looked at the video that we released that evening and the enhanced photos and identified the suspect.
07:24FBI Director Cash Patel also says that his department is investigating a group chat that Robinson was allegedly a part of on the Discord app with more individuals that are going to be interviewed.
07:35Utah Governor Spencer Cox on Sunday saying the suspect is being uncooperative, but that his transgender roommate boyfriend is cooperating with investigators.
07:44He's not cooperating, but all the people around him are cooperating.
07:49Robinson will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
07:52He faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm and obstruction of justice.
07:59If convicted on the aggravated murder charge, he could face the death penalty in the state of Utah.
08:04Charlie Kirk's funeral and memorial service will take place on Sunday in Arizona in a stadium that can hold up to 60,000 people.
08:12President Trump said that he will be attending.
08:14Reporting from Spanish Fork, Utah, Jack Bradley, NTD News.
08:19A vigil in memory of Charlie Kirk is being held tonight at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
08:25The event is nonpartisan and being led by House Speaker Mike Johnson.
08:29NTD correspondent Jason Blair has more.
08:32Speaker of the House Mike Johnson will lead a vigil honoring Charlie Kirk in the Capitol on Monday evening.
08:38The memorial is open to members of any political party and will be held in Statuary Hall.
08:43According to an advisory, Johnson, House leaders and other members of Congress are scheduled to speak.
08:49This follows a moment of silent prayer led by Johnson on the House floor last week, hours after Kirk was killed,
08:56as well as a vigil held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on Sunday night.
09:00Speakers included Representatives Andy Biggs and Anna Paulina Luna,
09:05as well as White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
09:11Every soldier lives this fact, this truth.
09:14I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death for your right to say it.
09:19Charlie lived by this principle.
09:23Gabbard described the first time she accompanied Kirk at one of his college campus events.
09:28And the first two or three people who had stood in line,
09:31they talked about how he positively impacted their lives.
09:35But Charlie wasn't there for praise.
09:36He would call to the crowd and say,
09:40hey, who here disagrees with me?
09:43Come to the front of the line.
09:46He listened carefully to everyone.
09:50Even when others in the crowd booed,
09:53whoever was speaking, he told them to be quiet
09:55and to let this person speak, to show them respect.
09:59Speaker Mike Johnson also spoke on Sunday night.
10:02Charlie Kirk did so much in his short life
10:05that he spurred that on in other people.
10:07He inspired it in other people.
10:09And that message and that truth will go more boldly now
10:12than it did while he was here.
10:14It will go forward with power and strength.
10:17That's it.
10:18Johnson closed with a prayer.
10:20Father, help us to remember the principles of your word
10:22that Charlie worked every day to advance,
10:24that we do not return evil for evil,
10:28but we overcome evil with good.
10:31Reporting from Washington, D.C., Jason Blair, NTD News.
10:36A UCLA employee is now on administrative leave
10:38after posts surfaced online
10:40where he appeared to celebrate the death of Charlie Kirk.
10:43The university responded to the situation.
10:46NTD's Christina Corona tells us more.
10:49Social media posts from a UCLA employee have resurfaced
10:53following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
10:56The posts included comments celebrating Kirk's death
10:59and statements saying,
11:00You can't force people to mourn someone who hated us,
11:03no matter how he died.
11:05Another read,
11:06It is okay to be happy when someone who hated you
11:09and called for your people's death dies,
11:11even if they are murdered.
11:13The employee holds the position
11:15of director of race and equity at UCLA.
11:18Corey DeAngelis on X compiled some of the posts,
11:21which were primarily shared on Blue Sky.
11:23UCLA released a statement on Sunday saying,
11:26UCLA has placed a campus employee on immediate leave
11:30and has launched an investigation
11:31following reports of social media posts
11:34regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk.
11:36They go on to say,
11:37while free expression is the core value of UCLA,
11:41violence of any kind,
11:42including the celebration of it,
11:44is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
11:47Thousands gathered at Huntington Beach
11:49Saturday and Sunday to remember Charlie Kirk.
11:52Attendees held candles,
11:53waved flags,
11:54and placed flowers at the site.
11:56The vigil,
11:56organized by local supporters
11:58and Turning Point USA affiliates,
12:00included moments of silence,
12:02speeches,
12:03and songs honoring Kirk's influence
12:05on conservative youth activism.
12:07Christina Corona, NTD News.
12:10After months of silence,
12:12New York Governor Kathy Hochul
12:13has endorsed Democratic nominee
12:15Zora Mandani for New York City Mayor.
12:18Hochul made her public endorsement
12:19in a New York Times opinion piece
12:21published on Sunday.
12:22In the article,
12:23she states that she's had frank conversations
12:25with Mamdani over the past few months
12:27about their disagreements.
12:29Hochul said Mamdani agreed to ensure
12:31that the New York Police Department
12:32has strong leadership.
12:34He previously supported defunding the police.
12:37Hochul said she and Mamdani
12:39will work together to confront possible attempts
12:41at federal intervention.
12:43Mamdani thanked Hochul
12:44in a statement Sunday night.
12:46President Trump chined in
12:47on a Truth Social post
12:48calling the endorsement
12:50quote,
12:50very bad for New York City.
12:52Adding that quote,
12:53Washington will be watching
12:54the situation very closely.
12:57Coming up,
12:58Secretary of State Marco Rubio
12:59meets with Prime Minister
13:00Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel.
13:02Meanwhile,
13:02Arab leaders hold an emergency summit
13:04after the Israeli strike
13:06on Hamas leaders in Qatar.
13:08Jason Perry reports.
13:10And Rubio provides more information
13:11on the Russian drones
13:13that entered Polish airspace.
13:15Arian Posdar has what he says
13:16about the reason behind
13:17the drone in Persian.
13:19And over 100,000 people
13:21gathered on the streets of London
13:23over the weekend.
13:24They're seeking to raise the issues
13:25surrounding mass immigration
13:26and what some protesters
13:28are calling the erosion
13:29of British culture.
13:31Malcolm Hudson brings us more
13:32from the UK after the break.
13:42Welcome back.
13:43I'm Tiffany Meyer.
13:44President Trump announcing
13:45the creation of a task force today
13:47to address rampant crime
13:48in Memphis, Tennessee.
13:49He says it'll be a replica
13:51of crime-fighting efforts
13:52in Washington, D.C.
13:53and that'll employ the full powers
13:55of the FBI, ICE,
13:57the National Guard,
13:58and other agencies.
13:59This team will deploy the full powers
14:01of federal law enforcement agencies
14:04and enforcement generally
14:06to restore public safety
14:07and get dangerous career criminals
14:09off of our streets.
14:10We're going to get them off.
14:12In 2024, Memphis had the highest
14:14violent crime rate,
14:15the highest property crime rate,
14:17and the third highest murder rate
14:19of any city in the nation.
14:21I've been in it all for seven years.
14:23I'm tired of crime holding
14:25the great city of Memphis back.
14:26Memphis had the nation's
14:29highest crime rate
14:30per 100,000 people last year,
14:32according to FBI data.
14:34President Trump says
14:34he'll likely deploy
14:35the National Guard
14:36to Chicago next,
14:37and that St. Louis
14:38is also on the list.
14:39Meanwhile, the president today
14:41also announced a U.S. strike
14:42on a second Venezuelan boat,
14:44saying it was carrying narcotics
14:46headed to the U.S.
14:47Trump says the strike
14:48killed three terrorists,
14:50adding that it was
14:50to stop violent cartels
14:52from transporting drugs
14:54that can kill Americans.
14:56Secretary of State Marco Rubio
14:58was in Israel today,
14:59where he met with
15:00Israeli Prime Minister
15:00Benjamin Netanyahu.
15:02This comes as leaders
15:03in the Middle East
15:04held an emergency summit
15:05to discuss Israel's strike
15:07on Hamas leaders in Qatar.
15:09NTD's Jason Perry
15:10has the details.
15:13Secretary of State Marco Rubio
15:15placed a prayer note
15:16into a crevice
15:17on the Western Wall
15:18in Jerusalem on Sunday.
15:20Rubio, along with U.S. Ambassador
15:22Mike Huckabee, attended
15:24the traditional ceremony
15:25before Rubio held talks
15:27on Monday with Israel's
15:28Prime Minister.
15:29I want to thank you
15:30personally for your
15:32unwavering support
15:33of Israel's right
15:33to defend itself,
15:35for standing firmly
15:36against those who seek
15:37to isolate and demonize
15:39our nation.
15:40We're engaged in the battle
15:41of civilization against
15:42barbarism,
15:43and the alliance
15:44between our nations
15:45remains as enduring
15:47and unshakable
15:48as the stones
15:50of the Western Walls
15:51we visited yesterday.
15:54And Rubio called
15:54for all the hostages
15:56to be returned home
15:57from the Gaza Strip
15:58and added this.
16:00Hamas can no longer
16:01continue to exist
16:02as an armed element
16:03that threatens
16:04the peace and security
16:05not just of Israel
16:06but of the world
16:07and that the people
16:08of Gaza deserve
16:09a better future,
16:10one that cannot begin
16:11until Hamas
16:12is eliminated
16:13and until all of the
16:14hostages, both living
16:15and deceased, are home.
16:16Monday is also
16:18the five-year anniversary
16:19of the signing
16:20of the Abraham Accords
16:21in which four Arab countries
16:23normalized diplomatic relations
16:25with Israel.
16:27The agreement was administered
16:28under the Trump administration
16:30in 2020.
16:31Rubio met with Israeli
16:32President Isaac Herzog
16:34to mark the occasion.
16:35I must say,
16:36Mr. Secretary,
16:37that we bless
16:38those agreements every day.
16:40They brought enormous change
16:41to everybody's lives
16:43in the Middle East.
16:44and these allies
16:46that signed the agreement
16:48despite all the storms
16:49of the Middle East
16:50have kept these agreements going.
16:52However,
16:53Arab leaders
16:54in the Middle East
16:55held an emergency summit
16:56in Qatar
16:57and called on countries
16:58to review their diplomatic
17:00and economic ties
17:01with Israel.
17:02The emergency Arab summit
17:04came just days
17:05after Israel reported
17:06striking Hamas leaders
17:08in Qatar's capital
17:09of Doha.
17:10The president of Egypt
17:11said this
17:12about any future agreements.
17:14I say to the Israeli people
17:17that what is happening
17:18right now
17:18hinders the future of peace,
17:20threatens your security
17:21and the security
17:22of the peoples in the region.
17:23Another leader
17:24at the summit
17:25said he expects
17:26the United States
17:27to use its influence
17:28to stop Israel's behavior.
17:30Jason Perry,
17:31NTD News.
17:34And Secretary
17:35Marco Rubio
17:35provides more information
17:36on the Russian drones
17:38that entered Polish airspace
17:39and over the weekend
17:40Russian drones
17:41reportedly entered
17:42Romanian airspace as well.
17:44Both countries
17:45are NATO members.
17:46NTD's international correspondent
17:48Arian Posdar
17:49has the latest.
17:50This shouldn't have happened.
17:51I don't think anybody's happy
17:52about it seeing happen.
17:53You saw NATO respond
17:54to it appropriately.
17:55We don't want to see it happen again.
17:57Secretary of State
17:58Marco Rubio
17:59condemns a Russian drone
18:01incursion
18:01into Poland.
18:02The drones
18:03reportedly penetrated
18:04Polish airspace
18:05last Wednesday.
18:07Poland then
18:07shut the drones down,
18:09which marked
18:09the first time
18:10a NATO member
18:11is known to have
18:12fired shots
18:13during the Ukraine war.
18:15Rubio now says
18:16the investigation
18:17into the incident
18:18is scheduled
18:18to take a few more days.
18:21The question is
18:21whether the drones
18:22were targeted
18:23to go into Poland
18:24specifically.
18:26If that's the case,
18:27if the evidence
18:28leads us there,
18:29then obviously
18:30that would be
18:30a highly escalatory move.
18:32He added
18:33that there are
18:33other possible reasons
18:35for the incursion too,
18:36but that the US
18:37wants to discuss
18:38the situation
18:38with allies
18:39before drawing
18:40a conclusion.
18:41And just over
18:42the weekend
18:43on Saturday,
18:44Russian drones
18:45reportedly entered
18:46Romanian airspace.
18:48The country's
18:49defense ministry
18:49said two F-16
18:51fighter aircraft
18:52took off
18:52on Saturday
18:53to monitor
18:54the air situation
18:55on the border
18:56with Ukraine
18:56following Russian
18:58air attacks
18:58on Ukrainian
18:59infrastructure
19:00on the Danube River.
19:02Like Poland,
19:03Romania is also
19:04a member of NATO
19:05and the European Union.
19:07Moscow says
19:08there is no proof
19:09that the drone
19:09was Russian.
19:11Meanwhile on Sunday,
19:13President Trump
19:13said Europe
19:14has to become
19:15stricter with Russia.
19:16Europe is buying
19:17oil from Russia.
19:19I don't want
19:19them to buy oil.
19:21And the sanctions
19:22that they're putting
19:23on are not tough enough.
19:24And I'm willing
19:25to do sanctions,
19:26but they're going
19:27to have to toughen
19:27up their sanctions
19:29commensurate
19:30with what I'm doing.
19:31Trump also said
19:33he's confident
19:33that the presidents
19:34of Russia
19:35and Ukraine
19:35would hold talks
19:36soon.
19:37But Trump added
19:38that he will attend
19:39and lead the talks
19:41as the two presidents
19:42are on bad terms.
19:44Meanwhile,
19:44Russia on Monday
19:45saying the Kremlin
19:46remains open
19:47to working
19:48on solving
19:48the conflict
19:49through diplomacy.
19:50But a spokesperson
19:51says Ukraine
19:52is hindering
19:53the process.
19:56The process
19:57is being artificially
19:58slowed down
19:58by Kiev.
19:59No one wishes
20:00to delve
20:00into the root
20:01causes
20:01of the conflict.
20:06But Europe
20:07has been
20:07accusing Russia
20:08of being at fault
20:09for slowing
20:10down the progress.
20:11They say Russia
20:12only talks
20:13about peace
20:13without actually
20:14working on it.
20:16Arian Pasdar,
20:17NTD News.
20:19Over 100,000
20:21people gathered
20:21on the streets
20:22of London
20:22on Saturday
20:23for the
20:24Unite the Kingdom
20:24march.
20:25It sought
20:26to raise
20:26the issue
20:27surrounding
20:27mass immigration
20:28and what I call
20:29the erosion
20:29of British culture.
20:31NTD's
20:31international
20:32correspondent
20:32Malcolm Hudson
20:33has more.
20:35Huge crowds
20:36filled the streets
20:37of London
20:37on Saturday
20:38for the
20:38Unite the Kingdom
20:39rally.
20:40The Metropolitan
20:41Police said
20:41it estimated
20:42around 110,000
20:43attendees,
20:44while organizers
20:45claimed helicopter
20:46footage showed
20:473 million people.
20:48It was spearheaded
20:49by Tommy Robinson,
20:50who is known
20:51in Britain
20:51for his long-standing
20:52campaigning
20:53against Britain's
20:54so-called
20:54grooming gang
20:55scandal,
20:56in which gangs
20:56of predominantly
20:57Pakistani heritage
20:58men,
20:59systematically
21:00exploited
21:00and gang-raped
21:01white,
21:02working-class
21:02girls.
21:03You are here
21:04because you
21:05love your
21:06country.
21:08You love
21:09your children.
21:13And we want
21:14a better future
21:15and a safe future
21:16for them.
21:17Robinson has been
21:18accused of being
21:19far-right,
21:20though it's a
21:20label he rejects.
21:21Elon Musk
21:22joined the event
21:23in a live interview
21:24broadcast on stage.
21:25He said Britain
21:26is facing an
21:27increasingly rapid
21:28erosion due to
21:28massive uncontrolled
21:30immigration,
21:31saying the British
21:31government has
21:32failed to protect
21:33innocent people and
21:34children,
21:35and calling for the
21:36dissolution of
21:36Parliament and a
21:37new election.
21:38Immigration has
21:39become a dominant
21:39issue in the UK,
21:40with concerns about
21:41what it means for
21:42the nation.
21:43I'm 35 years old.
21:45In my lifetime I've
21:46seen a huge change
21:48in my country.
21:49It's a country that
21:50I don't recognize
21:50anymore.
21:51It's a country that
21:52used to be one that
21:54was patriotic, proud,
21:57it had confidence in
21:59itself on the world
22:00stage.
22:01Even in the Bible,
22:02the Bible says,
22:03keep the laws of the
22:04country that you are
22:06in.
22:07So if everybody comes
22:08here, we should all
22:10know this is a
22:11Christian foundation,
22:13British culture,
22:15keep the culture,
22:17live by the values.
22:19Police appeared to be
22:20taken by surprise by
22:21the turnout,
22:22describing the rally
22:23as too big to fit on
22:24the approved route of
22:25the march, leading to
22:26a confrontation between
22:27police and protesters.
22:29There were kicks and
22:29punches as well as
22:30bottles, flares and
22:31other projectiles thrown.
22:33Police said 26 officers
22:34were injured, while 25
22:36people were arrested.
22:37The British government
22:38said only a small
22:39minority of the
22:39demonstrators had
22:40conflict with police.
22:41The march filled
22:42London with Union,
22:43St George's, Welsh and
22:45Scottish flags, with
22:46calls to restore
22:47Britain.
22:47You know, people are
22:48here together and it
22:49shows that the numbers
22:51really do care and the
22:52diversity here, it's
22:53not all far right, it's
22:54a real mixture and
22:56when people see that
22:58and they understand
22:59that it's not far
23:00right, they'll start
23:00to listen.
23:01I think this is
23:02exactly what the
23:03country needs and
23:04exactly what the
23:04world needs at the
23:05moment.
23:06Every country in the
23:07world needs to be
23:08doing this and
23:09celebrating their
23:10own country and
23:11their own history.
23:12Demonstrators also
23:13paid tribute to
23:14Charlie Kirk, who
23:15was assassinated last
23:16week.
23:17I'm so glad all these
23:18people are here because
23:19I promise you the
23:20world needs to
23:21change and the
23:21death of Charlie
23:22Kirk has changed
23:23the world forever.
23:25It has changed the
23:25world forever.
23:26We're in the UK and
23:27we're thinking about
23:27him.
23:28The whole world is and
23:29he's making this whole
23:30movement known.
23:31Malcolm Hudson, NTD
23:32News.
23:34Coming up in the
23:35aftermath of the
23:36assassination of Charlie
23:37Kirk, many are
23:38asking what should we
23:39do next?
23:40Some Democrats say
23:41their party members
23:42should tone down the
23:43rhetoric against
23:44Republicans.
23:45And Trevor
23:46Loudon, an author and
23:47filmmaker who's
23:47researched Marxist and
23:49terrorist movements for
23:50more than 30 years,
23:51joins us to dive into the
23:53history of political
23:53violence and the
23:55underlying ideology when
23:56we come back.
24:05Welcome back.
24:06I'm Tiffany Meyer.
24:07Since the assassination of
24:08Charlie Kirk, congressmen on
24:10both sides of the aisle have
24:11condemned it.
24:12But questions remain over
24:14what should happen next.
24:15Some Democrats have blamed
24:16their own party for their
24:18attacks on conservative
24:19values.
24:22As the world mourns the
24:23assassination of Charlie
24:25Kirk, questions arise over
24:26what needs to happen next.
24:28Many Republicans and
24:30Democrats have condemned his
24:31murder.
24:33Political violence is the
24:34enemy of democracy and we
24:36have an obligation on all
24:37sides to fight it at every
24:39turn.
24:40We must condemn it whenever it
24:42arises, wherever it arises,
24:44including this heinous murder
24:46of Charlie Kirk.
24:47Yet many Republicans have
24:49blamed Democrats for
24:50rhetoric that they say fuels
24:51anger in some people,
24:53leading them to commit
24:54these crimes.
24:55We turn down the rhetoric.
24:58We, you know, cease with
24:59this idea that, you know,
25:01policy disputes are somehow
25:03an existential threat to
25:05democracy or the
25:06republic.
25:07We stop calling one another
25:08names.
25:09I mean, calling people Nazis
25:10and fascists is not helpful.
25:12Look, there are some deranged
25:14people in society and when
25:15they see leaders using that
25:16kind of language so often
25:18now increasingly it spurs
25:20them on to action.
25:21And some Democrats agree
25:22that the name calling doesn't
25:24help.
25:25When I represent a state like
25:27Pennsylvania, that keeps you
25:29honest and you always can't
25:31forget that a lot of
25:32Americans happen to disagree
25:33with you.
25:34That does not mean that they
25:35are fascists or now they want
25:38to shred the Constitution.
25:40But when you hear some
25:41Democrats saying Trump is
25:42acting like an autocrat.
25:44Yeah, no, that's the thing.
25:45I, if you actually compare
25:47him to an actual autocrat,
25:48that is not, that is not
25:50just that.
25:51Now, last night, for example,
25:52people were, were, were
25:54complaining, they were
25:56protesting about, oh, that's
25:58the Hitler, Hitler thing.
25:59You just don't ever, ever
26:00compare anyone to Hitler and
26:02those kinds of extreme things.
26:04And now look what happened
26:05to Charlie Kirk.
26:06I mean, you know, the man
26:07was shot.
26:08Now we have to turn the
26:09temperature down.
26:11It's like, we can't compare
26:12people to these kinds of
26:13figures in history.
26:14And this is not an autocrat.
26:17This is a product of a
26:18democratic election.
26:21It's like I participated in
26:23that it was safe and it was
26:24secure.
26:25We lost and the America people
26:29put us in the minority.
26:30And now that's, that's
26:32democracy.
26:32And I revere democracy.
26:34I may not like the outcome,
26:36but I have to respect that.
26:38And I have to find and work
26:39through this.
26:40And now, and that, you know,
26:41I do believe that's what's
26:42appropriate.
26:43And you don't think that
26:44Trump is at all shattering
26:45any of the norms of
26:46democracy?
26:47I'm saying he's definitely
26:48different, but that's what
26:49America voted for.
26:50Again, I don't agree with
26:52many of these things, but
26:53that does not make him
26:54an autocratic.
26:55That does not make someone
26:57or, you know, compare him to
26:59people like Hitler and these
27:00other outlandish things.
27:02Can change really happen?
27:03And not only was Charlie
27:05assassinated, but a part of
27:07our core American principles
27:08were also assassinated.
27:10You know, and that is that
27:12we litigate with words, not
27:14weapons.
27:15And whether you agreed or
27:16disagreed with Charlie Kirk,
27:18you know, what he espoused in
27:20his, his mission was actually
27:22to do exactly what I'm
27:23encouraging all of us to
27:25start doing more of, which is
27:26to spend time together and
27:27show up at events and don't
27:29attack, but listen, learn,
27:31educate and debate.
27:33And that is the only way
27:35forward.
27:35But yes, it's going to take
27:36all of us, Lara.
27:38And I do speak for, I think,
27:39most Democrats.
27:40We're just as heartbroken as
27:42any reasonable patriotic
27:44American.
27:45Some Democratic members of
27:47Congress say it's not just a
27:49battle between the parties.
27:50There are other factors.
27:51On social media, extremism is
27:56rewarded with the most likes
27:57and the most follows and the
27:58most views and the most small
28:00dollar donations.
28:01So that, again, encourages
28:02division.
28:03Cable news, Fox News, MSNBC,
28:06they only have a few million
28:08viewers on each, but they say
28:09the more extreme messages.
28:11But the most important thing,
28:12the fourth factor, the most
28:13dangerous factor, are our
28:15foreign adversaries are using
28:17our media waves, using our
28:19social media, and using bots
28:21and fake accounts, and they
28:23are spreading extreme
28:24messages on issues that
28:26there's division in our
28:27country and making them
28:28bigger and bigger and
28:29bigger.
28:30And joining us now to dive
28:32into the history of political
28:33violence and the underlying
28:35ideology is Trevor Loudon.
28:37He's an author, filmmaker, and
28:38public speaker.
28:39For more than 30 years, Loudon
28:41has researched Marxist and
28:42terrorist movements, as well as
28:44the influence of the Chinese
28:45Communist Party.
28:47Trevor, as always, thank you so
28:48much for joining us.
28:48To begin, talk to us about the
28:50rise of radical left-wing
28:52extremism online.
28:53There's been a significant
28:55amount of celebration over
28:56Charlie Kirk's assassination,
28:58and from that, some people
28:59have gotten fired.
29:01In your view, how did we get
29:03to this point?
29:05Well, it's very easy for the
29:07left to say, well, we've got
29:09to tone down the rhetoric, we've
29:11got to, you know, calm down.
29:13It hasn't been the conservative
29:15movement that's been going, been
29:18using extreme rhetoric.
29:20It's been the left that has
29:22driven this all the time.
29:24And now that it's become a
29:25political liability for them,
29:27now that an extreme left-winger
29:29has assassinated somebody, and
29:32this is not the first incident.
29:34We've had attacks by Antifa on
29:37groups and on an ice station in
29:41Texas.
29:41We've had Black Lives Matter, a
29:44Chinese-aligned organization
29:46rampaging through the streets.
29:49We've had a young couple gunned down
29:53by a former communist in the streets
29:56outside the Israeli embassy in
29:58Washington, D.C., and multiple
30:01other attacks.
30:02This is coming from the left, because
30:05the left works with the Chinese
30:08and the Iranians and the
30:10Venezuelans and the Russians.
30:12And all of them want to cause
30:15instability in America.
30:17All of them want to drive the
30:18country into civil war.
30:20So they use their bot farms, they
30:22use their organizations on the
30:26street, their Communist Party USA,
30:28their Party for Socialism and
30:30Liberty, the Party for Liberty and
30:33Socialism, their Democratic
30:35Socialists of America, their
30:37Freedom Road Socialist
30:38Organization.
30:39They're using these organizations,
30:41they're using bots, they're using
30:43websites to drive students and
30:46young radicals to the left.
30:48And at the same time, they're
30:51pushing, pushing, pushing.
30:53They get a reaction, and when they
30:55get a reaction, they blame it all
30:57on the right.
30:58But that's the game.
31:00That's the game they have played
31:01for a hundred years now.
31:03So I don't really accept the
31:06sincerity of some of these
31:08Democratic spokesmen.
31:10It really rings true, because they
31:13weren't saying any of these kind of
31:14things during Black Lives Matter.
31:17It's now because it's embarrassing to
31:20them, because the show of support for
31:22Charlie Kirk is so massive, they know
31:25they've overplayed their hand a little
31:27bit, so they're backing off.
31:28But this is not sincere.
31:31And Trevor, there's a Wall Street
31:33Journal editorial from 2007 called
31:35No Guardrails, pointing to August of
31:381968 as the shift when the country
31:41began to tip towards the justification
31:43of violence.
31:44That was when fights broke out in
31:46Chicago during the Democratic National
31:47Convention involving the anti-Vietnam
31:49War movement.
31:51What do you make of that timeline?
31:52When do you think this shift into
31:54justifying violence began?
31:57Well, that was a major part of it.
31:59Yes, the 60s, because that's when the
32:01Chinese and the Soviets were spending a
32:04lot of money.
32:06And, well, the Soviets spent more money on
32:10the U.S. anti-war movement than they did
32:12on supporting North Vietnam.
32:14Most of the protests were led by Maoist
32:17pro-Chinese students, from Students for a
32:20Democratic Society and the Progressive
32:24Labor Party and other communist groups.
32:27So this was all driven from the left, all
32:31of it.
32:32And so some people reacted to that.
32:35But, you know, 98% of the violence came
32:38from the left.
32:39And that's been the recurring pattern in
32:42American society.
32:43But that was the big shift, yeah, in the
32:4660s.
32:47But that was because the Vietnam War and
32:50the Soviets were back in the North
32:51Vietnamese.
32:52The Chinese were back in the North
32:54Vietnamese.
32:55The Soviets put their money into the
32:56American peace movement and the student
32:59radicals and the Chinese ordered their
33:01young communists on the street to create
33:04mayhem to sour people on supporting the
33:08Vietnam War.
33:09That was what it was all designed to do.
33:11To your point, Ron Reichlitz talks about
33:15that in his book, Disinformation.
33:16And to your earlier point, Utah's governor
33:18was warning of China and Russia using
33:20bots to spread disinformation online after
33:23the assassination to heighten divisions in
33:25the country.
33:26Talk to us about the communist influences
33:28we're seeing here and in the past.
33:31Well, we're seeing the radical left.
33:33We're seeing Antifa, Democratic Socialists
33:35for America, the Palestinian youth movement.
33:38But we're seeing all these people, the
33:40traditional left, working with a lot of
33:43the Islamic groups, trying to push a
33:46debate to the left.
33:47And that's really gone up in scale since
33:50the trouble broke out in Israel since the
33:53attack on October 7th.
33:55But what you're also seeing is a lot of
33:58pro-Russian websites are promoting, like
34:03trying to tell conservative people, we need a
34:06civil war, we need a civil war.
34:09They are pushing on the right to get extreme
34:13reactions.
34:15So it's absolutely right.
34:17There are the Russians and others, the
34:20Iranians, are promoting a lot of stuff to
34:23try and push this country into civil war.
34:25And this is what, you know, Vladimir Dugin,
34:31the Russian philosopher, Putin's brain, has
34:34been saying for some years, he wrote books in
34:37the 90s.
34:38He's still doing this now.
34:40He's doing this right now.
34:41We need to push America into civil war.
34:43We need to exacerbate the racial and political
34:47differences in America to push the country into
34:50civil war.
34:51Alexander Dugin.
34:53And he has followers in this country, in the
34:55American Communist Party, some of the fascist,
34:59little fascist groups that are here, all trying
35:02to push both right and left to more and more
35:06and more extreme stances to basically create a
35:12civil war.
35:13One of the main things they're doing now, this
35:15is one of the main Russian operations, they're
35:19pushing out the meme that Israel was behind the
35:23assassination of Charlie Kirk.
35:24It was Israel that did it because they're trying
35:28to get, they've already, I've already driven a
35:32lot of hatred against Israel and the left and the
35:35Democratic Party.
35:36Now they're trying to create hatred against Israel
35:39and the conservative movement.
35:41So this is, you see this coming from all the
35:43Russian websites.
35:44Israel did it.
35:45It was really Israel that killed Charlie Kirk.
35:48This is an example of the propaganda aimed to divide us,
35:53to split us away from Israel, to divide the U.S.
35:57right, to divide left versus right, just to create
36:00chaos and anarchy.
36:03Russia and China cannot dominate the world unless
36:06they drive America into civil war.
36:08That's their plan.
36:11And given what you just laid out, what do you see
36:13as next in this investigation?
36:15How will the FBI investigate possible groups that may
36:18be behind the motives and ideology involved in
36:21Charlie's assassination?
36:22Look, if the FBI, when the George Floyd riots were
36:27going on, going on, the FBI could have arrested
36:30about 100 key leaders, Marxists who are leading
36:33that movement, and it would have stopped it.
36:36When President, the riots were supposed to start
36:39again in Los Angeles.
36:40The same communists who did the George Floyd riots
36:43were doing the ICE riots in Los Angeles recently.
36:46But Trump stepped in, sent in the National Guard,
36:49and squashed it.
36:51It was supposed to spread all over America,
36:53but he squashed it.
36:55So it's a combination of tough, tough policing,
36:59enforcing the law, but also, if you,
37:03the Justice Department and the FBI started about 10
37:07RICO lawsuits investigating the major communist parties
37:12and the major Islamic radical groups and the major extremist
37:18groups on the, so, you know, the more, the white supremacist
37:22pro-Russian groups.
37:23If there were 10 good RICO lawsuits would shut this whole thing down.
37:28We know who the leaders are.
37:31We know how they're doing it.
37:33All we are lacking is the political will to actually prosecute
37:37and enforce the law.
37:39Now, with the murder of Charlie Kirk, hopefully enough people,
37:45enough Republicans, people around Trump,
37:48are actually going to take this seriously now.
37:50Because Kirk will not be the last if this is allowed to continue.
37:54There will be several.
37:55I've been saying for a year now I expected political assassinations
37:59this year.
38:00Sadly, I was correct on the first one.
38:03Hopefully there are no more.
38:05But unless there are major crackdowns, RICO lawsuits, prosecutions,
38:09there absolutely will be more.
38:13Concerning, indeed, Trevor Loudon, as always.
38:15Thank you so much for joining us.
38:16Thank you so much.
38:17Much appreciated.
38:20Coming up in the NFL, the Bengals could be without quarterback
38:23Joe Burrow for quite a while after he was injured yesterday.
38:27Dave Martin joins us to discuss
38:28at the 1965 American classic The Sound of Music
38:32making a comeback at the Kennedy Center.
38:35Sam Wong hears from VIP audience members
38:37at the red carpet premiere when we come back.
38:53And now for your sports news, we're joined by NTD's Dave Martin.
39:04A lot going on right now, including your back.
39:06It's been a minute.
39:07Good to be back.
39:08Let's start in the NFL, as yesterday, Cincinnati quarterback
39:11Joe Burrow left the game against Jacksonville with a toe injury.
39:15Have the Bengals updated his condition?
39:17You know, as of about 30 minutes ago, anyway, the team has not.
39:20But multiple sources are reporting he'll need toe surgery
39:24and will miss about three months.
39:25Now, obviously, that could derail Cincinnati's chances
39:28of returning to the playoffs, if true.
39:30Now, he was injured yesterday while being sacked by Jaguars.
39:33Eric Armstead, it was hard to see what actually happened
39:36on instant replay, except several people fell on him
39:39after he went down.
39:40He then tried to limp off the field, could not do it,
39:43went down again.
39:44This was in the second quarter.
39:45Burrow did not return.
39:47Now, his backup, Jake Browning, filled in admirably,
39:49leading them to a comeback win, so the Bengals are actually
39:52now 2-0.
39:53But for Burrow, if he's out for three months,
39:55that would take us to mid-December.
39:57He would miss the majority of the season.
39:59It would be a huge loss for the Bengals.
40:01Burrow, of course, a two-time Pro Bowl selection,
40:04finished fourth in the MVP in voting last year.
40:06So, quite a big loss, potentially, for the Bengals there,
40:10and for anyone who has them on their fantasy football team, too.
40:14Now, besides Burrow, there are a few more quarterbacks
40:17who are nursing injuries.
40:19Vikings quarterback, J.J. McCarthy,
40:21he's also reportedly out with a high ankle sprain,
40:24according to ESPN, expected to miss two to four weeks,
40:28they're saying.
40:28Now, McCarthy was Minnesota's first-round pick in 2024,
40:32missed all of last year already with a knee injury.
40:35Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said McCarthy was very sore
40:39after suffering an ankle sprain last night against Atlanta.
40:42He was able to play state in the game, though.
40:45Now, elsewhere in the league, the Jets are reportedly preparing
40:48for the possibility of playing this Sunday
40:50without quarterback Justin Fields.
40:52Fields was injured in the fourth quarter of their loss
40:55against the Bills yesterday.
40:57And in Washington, Jaden Daniels reportedly sprained his knee
41:01against the Raiders Thursday night.
41:02His status for Sunday is reportedly in doubt.
41:06Daniels, of course, was the NFL's offensive rookie
41:09of the year last year.
41:10So, quarterback is reportedly a dangerous position right now
41:15in the NFL for sure.
41:17Seems like it.
41:18Well, moving away from that to basketball news.
41:20Last week, we reported on this show that NBA star LeBron James
41:23had written an op-ed in Chinese state-run media.
41:26His representative, though, came out and said that he didn't write it.
41:29Do we know exactly what happened here?
41:31You know, I don't think we still completely do yet.
41:34We'll just lay it out here and let the viewers here,
41:36let you, the viewers here, decide.
41:38Now, I can say looking at that article, it was entitled
41:40Basketball is the Bridge Connecting Each Other.
41:43It clearly has LeBron James written right underneath the title
41:47and right beside the date.
41:48That was September 8, which was a week ago today.
41:51Now, usually that's, of course, where the author's name is.
41:54And if that wasn't clear enough, at the bottom it says
41:56the author is the member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
41:59So, I don't think there's any mistake in reporting on this.
42:01Now, James' team, though, after this came out,
42:04said he did not write it, but the comments were made
42:06in multiple sessions with the media.
42:09Now, normally, if that's the case, though,
42:11you would write each question followed by each answer.
42:13Again, that was not done in the article.
42:16Of course, the NBA does have quite a tumultuous relationship with China.
42:20I mean, you know, China canceled all the games
42:23from being aired over in China in 2020
42:27after that Houston Rockets executive tweeted out
42:30free Hong Kong at those anti-democracy protests.
42:34And, of course, we've had Inez Freedom with his writing
42:37free Tibet and free China on his basketball shoes.
42:40I think all his Boston Celtics games
42:41were then immediately taken off the air over in China.
42:44So, yeah, it's quite a relationship with China.
42:47We still have not quite exactly heard what went on with this.
42:51We might not ever, though.
42:51But the AP originally reported this,
42:53and they completely ever just deleted that article.
42:56So it's quite the story or deleted story at this point,
43:00I guess you could say.
43:01Normally, that makes it a story.
43:03Well, looking at tonight's sports schedule,
43:05we have a number of baseball games on,
43:06plus a doubleheader on Monday Night Football.
43:08What matchups are standing out to you?
43:10Yeah, you know, in baseball,
43:11we've got the leading MVP candidates,
43:13really, of both leagues playing on tonight.
43:15Our first show, he and the Dodgers host the Phillies.
43:19Ohtani really seems like he's poised
43:22to win his fourth MVP this year.
43:25The Mets' Juan Soto,
43:27probably looking at a possible runner-up finish,
43:29despite his slow start.
43:31The Mets have the day off.
43:32In the American League,
43:33I would say it's a little closer,
43:34between one and two.
43:35Seattle's Cal Raleigh, Yankees' Aaron Judge.
43:38Now, Raleigh has 54 home runs.
43:40That's the most ever by a catcher,
43:42and that's tied for the most ever by a switch hitter.
43:44His average of 244 might cost him
43:47with a lump number of voters,
43:48but if he gets to 60,
43:49which he has an outside shot at,
43:50that would be tough to ignore.
43:52Now, Judge, though,
43:53despite missing a couple weeks
43:54with that flexor spray in his elbow,
43:57has 47 home runs,
43:59leads to baseball,
43:59and batting average,
44:00on-base percentage,
44:01and slugging percentage.
44:03I would say if he keeps that up,
44:04he should actually win, though.
44:06And we've got Monday Night Football.
44:08Starts pretty soon here.
44:08First game, 7 p.m. Eastern time,
44:10with the Texans hosting the Buccaneers.
44:13Then in the nightcap,
44:14we've got the Chargers at the Raiders.
44:16So, four NFL teams playing tonight, Tiff.
44:19None of them are actually on my fantasy football team
44:22or on yours,
44:24which unfortunately mopped the floor
44:26with my team this week.
44:27What was it, 105 to 70-something,
44:29I believe it was.
44:30Very humbling time for me, of course.
44:33Tiff, being a big NFL fan, you know,
44:36she had to play Patrick Mahomes.
44:38Let me just say for the audience,
44:39this was an auto-draft,
44:41and the team did not do very well for me,
44:43unfortunately, so Tiff has exploited that for sure.
44:50The vibes are winning.
44:53Well, Dave, as always, thanks for joining us.
44:55Thank you, Tiff.
44:57The golden age of musical theater
44:59now on display in one of the nation's
45:01most prestigious institutions.
45:02The Kennedy Center this month
45:04is bringing back to stage
45:05the 1965 American classic,
45:08The Sound of Music.
45:09NTD's Sam Wong spoke with VIP members
45:11on the red carpet premiere.
45:13Let's take a listen.
45:14The Sound of Music is a show
45:16that everybody knows and loves.
45:18I watched it when I was a little girl,
45:20and so to have it here
45:21at America's Cultural Center
45:22at a time when there really is a spotlight
45:25on what we're doing here at the Kennedy Center
45:27is music to my ears.
45:30I'm looking forward to the entire production.
45:32You know, it's important to our city.
45:34It's important to those who are theater goers,
45:36and we want to let people know
45:37outside of the city to come here
45:39to see the Sound of Music.
45:40So I can't wait to take it all in.
45:42I have vivid memories of watching
45:44The Sound of Music with my children growing up,
45:45so I think reliving that through this production
45:48and what's supposed to be a great cast
45:50and a great show should be fantastic.
45:52And it's also a really exciting night
45:54for a lot of people here in D.C.
45:57that are supporters of the arts.
45:58Well, I had an uncle who was a director
46:01in theater for many, many years,
46:02and as a child, every summer I would go
46:04and spend time with him in Milwaukee,
46:06and they always did a summer musical.
46:07So I got to know all the words of all the songs,
46:11and I'm just hoping tonight I can control myself
46:13and not sing along because I don't have a singing voice.
46:16I'm hoping people will look at this opportunity,
46:18the Kennedy Center is having this show,
46:20and bring either themselves, their children,
46:23their grandchildren to see this
46:24because it really is a classic piece of theater
46:28that everybody should know.
46:29And that's all for today's news.
