00:00so this is a landmark bill this is the hillsborough law that the families and survivors of that tragedy
00:0636 years ago have been campaigning for for decades but although this bears the name hillsborough law
00:11this will encompass so much more than that this is a testament to the campaigning of the grenfell
00:17families and survivors those victims of infected blood of the post office scandal of the nuclear
00:21test veterans and sadly so many more cases that we know of and that exist this is a law for anyone
00:29who has been fired by the state and this bill will rectify and change the culture through two
00:33very important ways so the first and foremost is that this bill will now impose a legal duty of candor
00:39on all public servants in the uk now what that means is that every public servant anyone who works
00:44for local authority or for government or who's acting on behalf of the public has to act with
00:49honesty integrity and accountability and they have to first and foremost tell the truth
