00:00Good afternoon, thank you Team Spain, thank everybody for joining the press conference
00:11with Team Spain. We'll start with questions in English and yes, first question is for Carla.
00:18Carla, what are your thoughts on this week? Your thoughts about this week?
00:23Well, you know, always it's great to be in the Beligingi Cup Finals, we are happy to be here and well, you know, I think the most difficult here is the jet lag, but we are here ready for four days, we were practicing really good, I think the court is really nice, it's so beautiful and I think for the moment we are happy to be here
00:53and everything is okay.
01:23And everything is very nice.
01:25Thank you, question please.
01:28A question for Carla, just about Ukraine, what are you expecting from their players, obviously they've got two really strong singles players, tell me a little bit about the match up and how you see it.
01:41Well, for sure it will be a really tough tie, they have really good singles players, but also they have good doubles, we know the players really good, but you never know, always in the teams competition, you never know.
02:08But well, we are practicing and I think we want to be ready, but that difficult moment, also we want to try to enjoy, but I think we are practicing good, try to be ready as I say before.
02:33Paula, you're back from injury, can you talk to me how good it feels to be back, how you're feeling on court and to be with the team as well in this environment?
02:46Yeah, it's been a tough couple of months, but I'm happy to be back.
02:51Of course, day by day I'm feeling a bit better, it's never easy coming after an injury.
02:57I'm feeling great with my teammates, I think in this kind of competition it's very important to have this good environment, this good team spirit.
03:07So, yeah, we're really looking forward for Wednesday, of course it's going to be tough, but we're tough also, so we love to compete as a country, as a team, so I'm really looking forward to that.
03:20A question for Jessica, you made your debut earlier this year, talk to me a little bit about maybe how do you feel different coming into these finals, now you've had that experience and you've kind of started your Billie Jean King Cup career in a way.
03:34Yeah, I mean, it's the third time that I'm here like playing for Spain and yeah, it was my debut in the last, in the qualies, so yeah, now I think I know more the competition and yeah, I'm happy to be back to be able to play in the finals, to be with the team.
03:50I think we're practicing good and I think that we are going to be ready for fighting against Ukraine.
03:56And maybe a question for anyone who wants to take it, but the qualifiers, you beat some really strong opponents in those matches, how do you, are you trying to kind of take that momentum into this week as well, because you had some brilliant wins?
04:11Yeah, I mean, for sure, all of the teams are good opponents, you know, it's tough to play against them, because they all have good players, so we know that every match is going to be tough, but I think that we are ready.
04:26I think the main point is to be good, like as a team, and practicing good and feeling good, like together, and I think that we are doing well, so I think that we, we will be ready and yeah, I know that it's going to be tough, but yeah, I think that we will be ready.
04:42Just a final one for me, and one for Leyda, it's your first nomination, I just wonder what is it like to be in this team environment with your, your, your colleagues?
04:51Yeah, I'm enjoying it a lot, you know, for me it's like a dream come true, I've always dreamed of being part of the Spanish national team, and I'm enjoying every moment, also the practices and with my teammates, they are really good to me, so I'm really enjoying my first experience here with the team.
05:10Just for one for all the team, just wondering if any of you saw any of the Davis Cup team yesterday, and Spain's come back from 2-0 down, whether that's maybe inspiration for you guys this week?
05:28Yeah, for sure, yes, yesterday night we were watching a little bit the first ticket, Peter, we are really happy for them, sure, it's going to help us this week.
05:44I have a question for Paul. So welcome back to China. So I do want to know how do you feel this time come to Shenzhen in China and how do you think about the fans and the crowd here?
06:03I love it. I love to come here to China. I have a very good experience from last year. I played one of my best tennis, my best level. I think I had a very amazing engagement also with the fans. So I'm really looking forward to come back and to be here to play the Asian Swing. So yeah, it's my first time in Shenzhen. I'm loving the city. And yeah, looking forward to spend all the month here.
06:30And also like we all know you came back from the injury. It was tough. But I know like you guys like spend like the team like always playing together and you guys have kind of like a spirit. How do you feel like like coming back and just play like a team and with a group and not just by yourself in the tournament?
06:45It helps. It helps. It helps like coming back of the injury. You feel sometimes a little bit alone. You have ups and downs. So having these people by your side, your people by your side, it's always helpful.
06:59It motivates me. And of course, starting the Asian Swing here, I think it's going to help me for the rest of the season.
07:06And I do want to know because, you know, in China, Chinese team, we played against you before. And we also have a lot of players are playing in the tournament. You guys must be like meet each other, have had conversation before.
07:19How do you feel about this Chinese team during this pillaging and how do you feel like if even if you guys can like possibly against each other?
07:27They're a very strong team. I think they have amazing players in the single side, in the double side. Of course, they have a very good potential. I would love to face China here. Why not? It would be a good sign. And of course, I wish them the best for the competition. And I think they're going to do very well.
07:46And also I have a question for the question for the coach as well. Same question.
07:49Same question? Yes.
07:50Well, for us, it's going to be a positive thing. That means that we beat Ukraine. So it's going to be tough for sure. But at the same time, with all the stadium full, I think it's beautiful to see that on a team competition.
08:13And, well, we'll see what happens in the next days.
08:17Good. And last question for Paul. So it's the Chinese season is upcoming. And what's your goal for the rest of the season, if possible?
08:26Because we have a lot of different tournaments in China, different cities.
08:29Well, honestly, right now, my goal is to stay healthy, to play as many matches as possible. Of course, I'm starting again now. I'm coming back again.
08:37But I know that the season is ending also soon. So, yeah, try to feel as better as possible.
08:43And honestly, my goal is already looking already for 2026.
