00:00Qatar's Emir opened Monday's Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit
00:03by reminding heads of state and dignitaries
00:06of the September 9th Israeli airstrike on Doha.
00:09Sheikh Tamim bin Hamid al-Thani condemned the attack
00:11as blatant, treacherous and cowardly.
00:14The high-level summit was convened in direct response
00:17to the strike that targeted Hamas leadership
00:19in the Qatari capital.
00:20Its large turnout was seen as a strong signal
00:22of Arab and Muslim solidarity with Qatar.
00:25The Emir accused Israel of deliberately targeting negotiators
00:28and undermining peace efforts,
00:30but stressed that Qatar will continue working
00:32with the U.S. and Egypt on a possible ceasefire
00:35between Israel and Hamas.
00:37The Israeli government,
00:40which is determined that it changed the North-South
00:43in the last few years,
00:45is actually believed that Israel's attack
00:50in any place and when it was.
00:53It is believed that the Arab region
00:56becomes an Israeli region.
00:58And this is a strong idea.
01:00We highly appreciate, of course,
01:02the very strong messages sent by the leaders today
01:05in their speeches and the summit made for,
01:09at least for today, Qatar,
01:10the capital of Arab and Islamic solidarity.
01:12It's a very important symbolic step
01:14to send a very clear message
01:15to the international community
01:17that we will not be left alone,
01:20but we are also not going to allow Israel
01:22to continue with impunity,
01:25with its aggression on the region as a whole.
01:27I think it is important for all of us
01:30to realize that we might be entering into a new phase
01:34after such a summit
01:37because it is obvious that the old ways
01:41of dealing with the occupying power of Israel
01:45is or are unacceptable
01:49and they did not really yield any positive results so far.
01:55As the summit wraps up,
01:57questions remain over what actions will actually follow.
01:59U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
02:01is expected in Qatar on Tuesday
02:03on the back of his meeting
02:04with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
