00:00History forgot her, but she rode twice as far as Paul Revere, in the dead of night,
00:04through rain, mud, and danger. She was just 16. In 1777, while the American colonies fought for
00:12freedom, a young girl named Sybil Ludington proved that heroes don't always wear uniforms,
00:18and they're not always men. When British troops burned the nearby town of Danbury, Connecticut,
00:24someone needed to alert the local militia fast. The usual riders weren't available,
00:28so Sybil's father, a colonel in the militia, turned to his teenage daughter. That night,
00:34Sybil mounted her horse and rode over 40 miles, alone, through pitch-black forests and pounding
00:40rain. She dodged British soldiers, banged on doors, and shouted the alarm. Her mission,
00:46warn hundreds of militiamen and give them time to regroup and defend their homes. By sunrise,
00:52she had successfully alerted the entire regiment. Her ride was twice as long as Paul Revere's famous
00:58journey, but history barely mentioned her. She didn't ride for fame. She rode for freedom.
01:03Today, Sybil Ludington stands as a symbol of girl power, patriotism, and pure courage.
01:09History gave Paul Revere a poem. Let's give Sybil the spotlight she deserves.
