00:10So I represent Flanders. Flanders is a northern region of Belgium right in the center of Europe.
00:16And I'm very happy to be part of the speakers today at the export conclave of CII, a very important partner for us to help us develop our business and create more partnerships between our region of Flanders and between Gujarat.
00:30And India. So what we do, we help our companies to enter the Indian market and at the same time we can also guide Indian companies, exporters with more information about Europe, any kind of question they might have, how to best access their European market, whether it's a question about logistics, warehouses, incentives from our government, any kind of question you might have about regulatory.
00:56And so we believe that being part of a conclave such as today really helps us to create more partnerships between our companies and the companies here in Gujarat.
01:05There are quite a lot of sectors where we see a huge complementarity, whether it's the chemical sector, pharma sector, also textiles, diamond, for instance, so many sectors where we create more business together.
01:20And I believe especially now in challenging times, it's necessary for us to strengthen our partnerships, to get to know each other better and to see where exactly the opportunities are when it comes to a sustainable development, both for India, for Flanders, for Belgium and for Europe.
01:38So I see a lot of potential, but the most important thing is to get to know each other. And that's why it's important to be present at the conclave here today to talk to the companies in Gujarat to see what are their demands, what are they looking for and to see how from Flanders, how we can better reply to these questions.
01:56And of course, we also just want to make sure that they know the way to find us in case they're looking at the European market and we can provide them with information.
02:03The diamond industry is going to pass through a lot of crisis. What will be the role of this conclave for a very given India counterpart?
02:16Well, there again, it's important to understand the challenges, both from your side, from our side, worldwide, and to see how we can create a new energy to bring this sector and any other sector to a growing level.
02:33Can Europe be an alternative to US in terms of the diamond market?
02:39Yes, well, I prefer not to go into politics because I do trade and investments. I don't discuss politics. But definitely, I mean, if one market becomes an issue because of because of tariffs, then another market can create more opportunities.
03:02And of course, we are very much looking forward to the EU-India trade agreement. Let's hope that it becomes reality very soon because it will be beneficial both for European companies, companies from Flanders as well, of course, as well as for Indian companies.
03:17So which thematic or sector you would like to invest more or collaborate more with India and particularly Gujarat?
03:24Well, we are sector agnostic, so we're open to discuss business with companies from any sector, but especially anything related to sustainable development, of course, climate tech, clean tech, whether it's waste treatment, for instance, recycling, any kind of renewable energy will also be taking part in the different regional conferences of Vibrant Gujarat, for instance, the first one coming up in Maxana.
03:51So I think India still has a long way to go, but also Europe, Flanders and Belgium as well when it comes to creating more sustainable development, more sustainable way of growing our industries. So there I see a lot of potential, aside from the more traditional ones, whether it's textile, diamonds, etc, etc.
04:10But the chemical sector, I would say the pharma sector, life science is also very important here in Gujarat and also very important for us.
04:17Any possibilities with knowledge creating institute or education or skill?
04:23Yes, definitely. As I also mentioned during my presentation in the life science sector, Flanders is a very, very strong partner.
04:32For instance, for clinical trial procedures, when it comes to the speed of these trial procedures, we are number one in Europe.
04:42We are also number one in biotech market capitalization. We are number two when it comes to the number of applications for patents in the biotech and pharma.
04:52And also number two when it comes to the applications for clinical trials. And number three for the number of researchers per capita in this sector.
05:02So any kind of company that would also like to form a partnership or collaborate with our research and development sectors in the life science sectors, in the pharma sectors, feel free to reach out to us.

05:21You said you are very strong in the chemical sector. So Gujarat is also very strong in the chemical sector.
05:24But here we are facing the problem of air pollution and liquid. So how is the situation there? How are you taking this situation?
05:33Yes, of course. Then we come into the sector of clean tech and climate tech, right? So quite a number of companies from Flanders are active in the Indian market to work on wastewater treatment, for instance, industrial waste and so on.
05:49Because that is a challenge that all chemical companies are facing, what to do with the negative impact on the environment.
05:56And so there again, quite a few research companies are active in Flanders and also bringing new technologies to India.
