00:00So, do you want to tell me about why you've come down to support this issue today?
00:06So, I think the Bath Recreation Ground was a gift to the people of Bath in 1957.
00:15That it should be an open, green space, forever.
00:19And that it was for the ladies of all the people of Bath and visitors, for all sports equally.
00:27And now we find that now one wealthy club, owned by one very wealthy man, has a lease.
00:39And is now looking to fill a permanent large stadium here.
00:45That is, first of all, it takes away a lot.
00:49It breaks that commitment that the council were due to keep an air.
00:54But it's looking at a wealthy stadium, a many wealthy stadiums.
01:00In the middle of these grade one listings, Georgian house, is a travesty.
01:07No one with any sensitiveness to the uniqueness of this city could ever contemplate putting a lumpy, massive, modern structure on it.
01:18There's a desecration of this city.
01:23People come to Bath for this architecture.
01:26They come for the Abbey, medieval Abbey.
01:29They come for the Roman Bath.
01:31They do not come to look at the modern, hideous, modern stadium.
01:35An eyesore right in the middle of it.
01:38And it is grotesque to consider putting it there in the first place.
01:43And for the council to consider, even consider allowing it, is not only a destruction of the context for these buildings,
01:55it also threatens the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
02:00Because the advisor to UNESCO, ICOMOS, the World Authority of historic buildings, said that it will cause great harm.
02:12ICOMOS UK.
02:14Now, if Bath were to lose its historic World Heritage Site status, that would affect tourists.
02:28That would affect tourists.
02:30And we cannot afford that.
02:32No one can afford that.
02:34And yet, Bath and Rugby seem to have to be able to override all those considerations.
02:40We just think, visitors could come here.
02:43They could walk in these green fields.
02:45And look at the green hills beyond.
02:48Look at these wonderful houses.
02:50And right in the centre of this historic city.
02:54So, facing the eighties.
02:56And that's what it should be.
02:59Can't this?
03:00Kids should run and play.
03:02Now it's going to be able to put down coats and have a kick around with the football.
03:06Play tennis.
03:08Play of it here.
03:09In the summer, have big ones.
03:11That's our heritage.
03:12That was given to us.
03:14And Bath, Rugby, and its small, well, its minority of people in Bath will seem to be intent on taking
03:23other words.
03:24Supported.
03:25Shamefully.
03:26Shamefully.
03:27By some councils.
03:28And I can't understand it.
03:31I can't understand it.
03:33Thank you so much.
03:35That's great.
03:36Yes, that's great.
03:39.
03:57Thank you for looking for this project.
