Ex-PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli says politicians from the unity government and the administrations under Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri Yaakob 'cannot point fingers at who is worse'.
00:00Former PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli said no administration between 2020 and 2025 can claim the moral high ground as the 41 cases involving politicians that were closed with no further action, cut across three administrations.
00:17Commenting on data revealed by Law and Institutional Reform Minister Azalina Othman Said, Rafizi said the cases spanned the Perikatan Nasional Administration under Muhyiddin Yassin, the Barisan Nasional Government under Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the Current Unity Government under Anwar Ibrahim.
00:58Rafizi said it was unclear who the politicians involved were and the nature of the cases, but surely politicians weren't caught stealing milk because they couldn't afford it.
01:09He said most of the investigation papers against politicians were likely linked to abuse of power and corruption, and not petty crimes.
01:18Rafizi said with more than two-thirds of cases against politicians between 2020 and 2025 classified as NFA,
01:26it is understandable that the public compares this with the treatment of ordinary people accused of stealing milk.
01:33Last week, Azalina told the Dewan Nagara that 41 out of 60 investigation papers opened on criminal cases involving politicians since 2020 had been classified as NFA,
01:45adding that the cases could be reopened if new evidence surfaced and that decisions were based on facts, evidence and the law, not the individual's background.
