President Donald Trump in his first media interaction after the killing of Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk, who was his close ally, said that he had an 'indication' about the motive behind the assassination. Trump also said that he spoke to Charlie's wife Erika who was 'completely devastated'. Trump also confirmed that he will attend Charlie Kirk's funeral in Arizona, expected to be held next week.
00:09Not really, I'm really concerned for our country.
00:14We have a great country.
00:17We have a radical left group of lunatics out there,
00:20just absolute lunatics.
00:22And we're going to get that problem solved.
00:24I'm only concerned for the country, yeah.
00:26How do you want to see your supporters respond to this?
00:32Charlie Kirk was a big advocate of nonviolence
00:35and free speech on campus.
00:36How do you want your supporters to respond, sir?
00:38I think that way.
00:39He was.
00:39He was an advocate of nonviolence.
00:41That's the way I'd like to see people respond.
00:44Did you speak with his family this afternoon?
00:46Did you speak with his family this afternoon?
00:48I did.
00:49I spoke to Erica, his wife.
00:52And we had a long talk, and she's devastated.
00:55She is absolutely devastated, as you can imagine.
00:59Are you concerned about the President's party
01:03copter?
01:04Have you any better for the intervention of parties
01:09behind the Charlie Kirk assassination?
01:11I don't know what you're saying.
01:13Mr. President, when, Mr. President,
01:17are you planning to bring both Presidents,
01:20the President of Congo, and President of Rwanda,
01:25to the U.S.
01:25They're coming soon.
01:26They're coming soon.
01:28And, as you know, I spoke to their foreign ministers.
01:30They were here a couple of weeks ago, as you remember.
01:32And they'll be coming soon.
01:33The Presidents are coming very soon.
01:35The President, are you?
01:36The Pressel, Mr. President,
01:37this week, Mr. President, I witnessed more than 60 people
01:42in DRC Congo were killed.
01:44There is people affiliated with ISIS.
01:47Terrorist groups are taking advantage because of the situation going on,
01:51because of the war.
01:53So, what is your word for Congolese people?
01:55The President, well, we're going to be talking to them.
01:56As you know, we are talking to them.
01:58It's a very violent place.
02:00It's very, very violent.
02:01For a long time, it's been going on for 30 years,
02:0435 years even, they say.
02:06But we're going to handle it.
02:08The Pressel, Mr. President,
02:09the President,
02:10the President,
02:11on the Russian drone in Poland.
02:14Any reaction on the Russian drone in Poland?
02:18The Pressel, Mr. President,
02:20what do you think about the media that justified the murder of Charlie Kirk?
02:25I think it's terrible.
02:26They ought to be ashamed of this.
02:27Why haven't, Mr. President, why haven't they found the shooter yet,
02:33Mr. President?
02:34Are you concerned that it's been 24 hours?
02:36Well, I hear they're making big progress,
02:38and we'll have to see what happens.
02:39Do you have any indication of the shooter's motivation, sir?
02:43I have an indication, yeah,
02:46but we'll let you know about that later.
02:48The Pressel, Mr. President,
02:50you spoke with the Pakistani President,
02:54and this last Saturday,
02:55you sent greetings to Kazakhstan.
02:58U.N. General Assembly is upcoming.
03:00Are you going to meet with the presidents of Central Asian countries?
03:04President where?
03:05Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan.
03:07I will be, yeah.
03:08They're very good people, and I will be doing that, yes.
03:10The Pressel, Mr. President,
03:13are you going to come over to train the fascist
03:15and have you seen anything for all the time?
03:17The President, I'd rather not say.
03:19I think progress is being made.
03:22He's an animal, total animal.
03:24And hopefully they'll have him and they'll get him.
03:27What he did is disgraceful.
03:29Charlie Kirk was a great person, a great man,
03:33great in every way, especially with youth.
03:36And what he did, what this man did was disgraceful.
03:39So hopefully we'll have him,
03:40and we will deal with him very appropriately.
03:43What's your reaction to Russia and France?
03:47The President, what's your reaction to Russia and France?
03:49Could have been a mistake.
03:52Could have been a mistake.
03:53But regardless, I'm not happy about anything having to do
03:56with that whole situation.
03:58But hopefully it's going to come to an end.
03:59The Pressel, Mr. President, in Brazil,
04:01in Brazil, Bolsonaro was just found guilty by the Supreme Court.
04:04You've been very clear that you would apply sanctions.
04:07Are you thinking further sanctions to Brazil
04:09because of this Bolsonaro?
04:10Well, I watched that trial.
04:11I know him pretty well as a foreign leader.
04:15He was a good, I thought he was a good President of Brazil.
04:18And it's very surprising that that could happen.
04:21That's very much like they tried to do with me,
04:23but they didn't get away with it at all.
04:26But I can only say this.
04:29I knew him as President of Brazil.
04:30He was a good man.
04:32And I don't see that happening.
04:34The Pressel, Mr. President, I'm very sorry,
04:35for your loss and everybody's fault.
04:37Say it.
04:38I'm very sorry, for this
04:50Mr. President, will respond?
04:50The Pressel, I'm very sorry, for this rivalry.
04:52The Pressel, how do you think Israel's attack
04:53in Doha will affect the hostage deal?
04:55The President, well, hopefully,
04:55it won't affect it at all.
04:56We want the hostages out, and we want them out soon.
05:00Hopefully it won't affect them.
05:02Mr. President, my condolences to you, sir.
05:05My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk.
05:08May I ask, sir, personally, how are you holding up over the last day and a half, sir?
05:12I think very good. And by the way, right there, you see all the trucks.
05:15They've just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House,
05:19which is something they've been trying to get, as you know, for about 150 years.
05:23And it's going to be a beauty.
05:25It'll be an absolutely magnificent structure.
05:28And I just see all the trucks.
05:30We just started.
05:31So it'll get done very nicely, and it'll be one of the best anywhere in the world, actually.
05:37Thank you very much.
05:38Mr. President, will you get to meet with Mayor Adams when you're in New York?
05:43Will you get to meet with Mayor Adams when you're in New York? Do you expect to?
05:48I don't expect to. I would, but I don't expect to.
05:50Mr. President, I'm going to go to China.
05:52Do you have one favorite memory of Charlie?
05:56Many favorite memories. He was just a great guy.
05:59I've never seen a person that was a little bit older get along so well with youth.
06:04He got along with young people. I've never seen anything like it.
06:07And he really helped me a lot. I did very well, as you know, with young people.
06:11And he was a big factor. How are you? All right?
06:13I'm well, thanks. How are you?
06:14Are you going to go to Charlie Kirk's funeral, sir?
06:16I will be. You will.
06:17Do you know when that will be?
06:18I believe it's in Arizona. And they've asked me to go. And I think I have an obligation to do that.
06:24Do you know when that will be?
06:26I'm hearing next weekend.
06:29After your trip?
06:31I'm hearing next weekend.
06:32Are you frustrated that they have not caught the perpetrator yet?
06:35Well, I hear they're making great strides, Maggie. I hear they're making great strides.
06:39You know, they have pictures and some other things. And they found the weapon. Big factor.
06:44So they're very talented people. Let's see what happens.
06:48Certainly we hope we can do it soon.
06:51Do you have a reaction to the Brazilian Supreme Court convicting Bolsonaro?
06:54Yeah, I'm very unhappy about it. I know President Bolsonaro not so well, but I know him as a leader of a country.
07:00And I always found him to be very straight, very outstanding. Actually, as a man, a very outstanding man.
07:06I think it's a terrible thing. Very terrible.
07:09Do you condemn Russia flying drones?
07:10Actually, I think it's very bad for Brazil.
07:12Do you condemn Russia flying drones in Poland?
07:15Well, I hear that what happened, as you know, where they were taken down and they went a little berserk.
07:21But regardless, yes, I would condemn even for being near that line. I don't like it. I'm not happy about it.
07:28That whole thing I'm not happy about.
07:30If the Supreme Court says tariff are unconstitutional, will the 550 investment agreement with Japan be cancelled?
07:47Well, we have a great case, and everyone thinks it's going to be very successful. It's a great case. I don't see how anybody could be successful on that.
07:55Great speech today. What is your message to other conservative influencers, podcasters, TV hosts, that they might be targeted by some of these radical groups?
08:09Well, we have to be brave in life. You know, in all fairness, we have a life and we have to be brave.
08:13I probably shouldn't be out here talking to you, in all fairness, but we will be brave.
08:18And we have a great country. We have radical left lunatics out there, and we just have to beat the hell out of them.
08:25Charlie was my boss.
08:28He worked for Charlie Kirk. He was turning point USA.
08:30Charlie Kirk was my boss, and we're absolutely devastated. So I'm wondering if you have a message for our Turning Point USA family.
08:36I do. It's a great family. They're great friends of mine. He was, I would say, nobody stronger for me than Charlie Kirk.
08:42This is a devastating moment for the country. And as you know, I'm giving him the Presidential Medal of Freedom,
08:48which is the biggest award outside of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
08:52That's the civilian version of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and he deserves it, and I look forward to it.
08:58I'll be going to his funeral.
08:59Do you have a favorite moment? Do you have a favorite moment with Charlie Kirk?
09:02The overall person, the persona of Charlie Kirk. I mean, he was unbelievable, especially with youth.
09:08Now, he was a young guy, but older than the people he was even catering to.
09:12I've never seen anybody have such an impact on young people.
09:16What was going through your mind today at delivering the speech at the Pentagon? What was going through your mind?
09:20So sad. Charlie was on my mind, even though the speech was initially about Charlie, and then we went on to, you know, September 11th.
09:28But more than anything else, Charlie was on my mind. You know, it's very fresh and a very horrible thing. He was a great man.
09:37Mr. President, are you planning to-
09:38What is your message to the millions of-
09:40What's your message to the millions of young Americans who feel like their voice, their political voice, was snuffed out in a group?
09:46All I can see is hanging there. And I think Turning Point, I spoke with Erica, wife, and they have great people in Turning Point,
09:53and I think they're going to carry it forward. And they're going to make Charlie very proud, looking down on us all.
09:58But he was incredible. He really helped me with the election, too.
10:01We won youth. We did great with young people, which really doesn't happen very often with Republican candidates.
10:08If you take a look at Mitt Romney and some of these others, they did so badly and I did so well.
10:13And Charlie was a big factor. Thank you all.
10:16Are you planning to go to UN General Assembly?
10:18I'm home with the Australian Prime Minister. Last week.
