00:30broilers are chickens raised for one purpose rapid meat production they're bred to grow
00:37unnaturally fast and they do but what does this mean for their health our health and the planet
00:43in the 1950s it took over 14 weeks to raise a chicken today it takes just 30 to 35 days
00:50that's more than three times faster modern broilers gain nearly 60 grams a day
00:56a pace their bodies struggle to handle to make this growth possible they're fed high energy diets
01:02there's an arsenic-based compounds like rocks or sown are added to push growth even further
01:11over 70 percent of all antibiotics in the world go to farm animals broilers included drugs like
01:18tetracycline colistein and amoxicillin are used not to treat illness but to keep birds alive in cramped

01:33collapse they're not sick they're overgrown this is what happens when we force nature to move faster
01:40than it should and it doesn't stop with chickens we're seeing antibiotic resistant infections
01:46hormonal disruptions and rising concerns about obesity and even early puberty in children
01:52all linked to what's in our meat what about the environment broiler farms produce mountains of
02:05waste waste laced with antibiotics that pollute soil crops and water
02:10in 2024 the world produced over 103 million metric tons of broiler meat the top producers the u.s china
02:21brazil and the eu and by 2025 that number is expected to grow even more we feed billions with this system
02:31but at what cost are we sacrificing long-term health for short-term convenience there is a better way home-raised
02:40free-range chickens grow slower live better and are safer to eat let's choose meat raised with care
02:46not chemicals the true cost of broiler chicken isn't on the price tag it's in our bodies our environment
02:54and our conscience cheap meat comes at a high cost choose consciously
