00:14:55And you feel you were there before
00:14:58But you're not sure
00:15:00And you go walking down the street on your feet
00:15:05And you find yourself keeping discreet
00:15:09Another day, another place
00:15:15I hear you, I will see you without a time
00:15:23You put some sugar in your feet
00:15:26And just delight in the flavor of reality
00:15:30And you begin to kick the power that it is

00:28:02I don't know what time or day it is
00:28:07What a trip for me
00:28:12What a trip for me
00:28:16I was this, I was that
00:28:20I was anything I wanted to be
00:28:23If I lost my mind
00:28:28I'd probably laugh last because
00:28:33It's not so funny anymore
00:28:40What a day for me
00:28:47What a day for me
00:28:47Feels so strange
00:28:54I don't know what time or day it is
00:28:59What a trip for me
00:29:04I was this, I was that
00:29:12I was anything I wanted to be
00:29:15I thought I knew everything
00:29:20But then I wonder if it's the right thing
00:29:26No matter what it was
00:29:29There'll be more
00:29:34What a day for me
00:29:37What a day for me
00:29:39I thought I knew everything

00:30:58We love
00:31:00We love
00:31:02To feel the freshness in the air
00:31:07And let the wind blow through your head

00:31:26You are me and I am you
00:31:30There's no comparison for two

00:31:50That's the way it's going to be
00:31:54I would like to say hello to everyone
00:32:00Everyone that you have never known
00:32:06We love

00:32:13There's no comparison for two
00:32:19We love
00:32:22Our future dreams are understood
00:32:27Everything we do is forbidden
00:32:33Everything we do is forbidden
00:32:39We love
00:32:47We love
00:32:52To be continued...
00:33:22Fire by the river, I thought I saw her, I recall, I redrawed in my mind.
00:33:38Rage by the river, I was furious, but there, I was there all along.
00:33:52Let me create my world, my symphony, my heart, my comedy, my love.
00:34:06Fire by the river, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought I saw her, I thought
00:34:36The sound of the river
00:34:47I thought I'd hear her
00:34:49I just stared everywhere
00:34:53With my eyes
00:34:57Tamed by the river
00:35:00Don't think it's over
00:35:02I recall
00:35:03I read through
00:35:06In my mind
00:35:09Let me create
00:35:15My world
00:35:17A symphony
00:35:19My heart
00:35:22Anomaly
00:35:23My love
00:35:26My love
00:35:35My love
00:35:40I hope not
00:35:43No
00:36:44There's a cry in the air, I'll catch you as before, I am the dragonfly hunter.
00:36:55And there again is the circle, there again is the circle, the effort, see, the complete
00:37:04effort to be beautiful.
00:37:07And being beautiful, well the whole of anything is supposed to be solemnly understood.
00:37:12Only effort is the effort, not the complete thing, but the effort, the effort is the beauty,
00:37:20the effort.
00:37:20How long is waiting, how short is life, blue morning glories.
00:37:30And that morning, or that moment, when it didn't really matter to live or die, it really didn't
00:37:41matter to live or die.
00:37:43That suspended animation, the suspended animation of being, that is true perfection.
00:37:53Coin on a plate, bird in a cage, a summer festival.
00:37:58And every man becomes free within the bounds of his own shackles.
00:38:06The real freedom, the true freedom, is concept.
00:38:11Keeper of their own, faces of life, you are a yawning cat.
00:38:19The effort to be me, oh what an effort, what an effort, the effort to be me, the quest, the
00:38:31curiosity, and there again, the perfection of effort, the perfection of effort.
00:38:40Descending down the road, I'll bring you up, though you may not know.
00:38:45And as she walked, she became a part of the divine canvas, upon which the immortal hand
00:38:53of God painted his seasonal masterpiece to beautify his domain.
00:38:57She had worn well her garment of flesh of twenty-three years, for it was yet tender and ripe, as
00:39:04if still holding the perfume dampness of a mother's womb.
00:39:11Happy Chattery.
00:39:12Happy Chattery.
00:39:15Happy Chattery City.
00:39:19It's but a vapor, truly a vapor.
00:39:24The Dream, the quest for reality.
00:39:28The…
00:39:29Tought desperation…
00:39:32The quest for reality.
00:39:37Coin on a plate, a bird in a cage.
00:39:42a summer festival.
00:39:45During New Year's, I think it's one of the biggest days.
00:39:50We carry on for two or three days,
00:39:53and we eat lots of different kinds of foods,
00:39:56especially if we prepare rice cakes, bean curries,
00:40:00red carp, rice wine, lotus roots, red caviar.
00:40:06This is a pretty food.
00:40:08It's all decorated.
00:40:10Sushi, machine.
00:40:13It's such an artistic thing that they go through
00:40:16just to prepare one dish.
00:40:18It was one of the exciting days,
00:40:21because they play many games,
00:40:24such as they fly kites,
00:40:26they play cards, they get gifts,
00:40:30and they see dragon dances,
00:40:32and my parents would take us to a friend's house
00:40:36and pay a greeting to them.
00:40:38such a happy new year.
00:40:40And, um,
00:40:42you hand them a token,
00:40:44money or a present,
00:40:48and you go around all day almost,
00:40:50paying visits to many people.
00:40:52I think it's nice.
00:40:54Keeper of their own basis of life,
00:41:00you old yawning cat.
00:41:02In Japan, people would go fishing for a two-inch fish
00:41:14with a long, uh, ten-foot bamboo pole,
00:41:18ten to fifteen feet bamboo pole,
00:41:22just to catch this two-inch fish.
00:41:26But they, they enjoy this, doing this,
00:41:30more than catching the bigger fish,
00:41:32because this little fish with this thin, long bamboo pole,
00:41:36gave you more fight than any other fish did,
00:41:40in a, in a, in a, in a weird,
00:41:42in a smaller way.
00:41:44But you know how you could become smaller
00:41:46and have just as much fun.
00:41:48And, that this is what they did.
00:41:52And this is what they always do.
00:41:54Catch this two-inch fish.
00:41:56Catch this two-inch fish.
00:42:04There's a cry in the air.
00:42:08I'll catch you as before.
00:42:12I am the dragon cloud.
00:42:22Did you ever see an ant?
00:42:24Beating?
00:42:26It's an ant eater, but it's not a big ant eater.
00:42:28Like, I don't know.
00:42:30It's like another insect.
00:42:32And it looks, like, on the ground.
00:42:34And it builds, like, a wall.
00:42:36Sort of out of a,
00:42:38heavily sand.
00:42:40Like, not a fine sand,
00:42:42but like, rounded sand.
00:42:44And it builds, sort of like a volcano,
00:42:46kind of, a mountain.
00:42:48And it stays in the middle,
00:42:50in the bottom.
00:42:52And the ant climbs to the top of it.
00:42:54It would just dig one part of the,
00:42:56bottom of the rock.
00:42:58And the whole dirt pile would just,
00:43:00shh, fall down.
00:43:01And the ant would just roll down to the bottom.
00:43:03And, every time he tries to climb up,
00:43:05he would just put a little more dirt.
00:43:07And the ant would roll down into the small.
00:43:09And eventually he gets eaten up.
00:43:15How long is waiting?
00:43:19How short is life?
00:43:23The blue morning glories.
00:43:25I remember seeing these fields and fields of ice padded.
00:43:33And women.
00:43:35Three, four women.
00:43:37Punched down.
00:43:39In different places.
00:43:41With a brown, triangular hat.
00:43:44And bury them.
00:43:46Planting the seedlings.
00:43:47Into the soil.
00:43:48One by one.
00:43:50With their feet in muddy water.
00:43:53And I would watch these people.
00:43:56For them.
00:43:58For us.
00:43:59And watch the slow progress of them.
00:44:02And it's so beautiful.
00:44:05Just the way they look.
00:44:15In the heart of the city.
00:44:20I had a pregnant dog.
00:44:24And to cross the street.
00:44:28I picked up my dog.
00:44:30And I held my dog under my arm.
00:44:32And.
00:44:37While crossing the street.
00:44:39I suddenly felt.
00:44:41For the first time in my life.
00:44:44One life inside of another.
00:44:50And I remember running.
00:44:52To the park.
00:44:55Because the park represented to me.
00:44:59A beautiful green bed.
00:45:03And I wanted to roll around.
00:45:05On that green, beautiful bed.
00:45:08And absorb.
00:45:10The miracle.
00:45:11That I had discovered.
00:45:13And that was.
00:45:17One life being inside of another.
00:45:20My little pregnant dog.
00:45:23And I remember rolling across the lawn.
00:45:27And pounding the grass.
00:45:30And trying to.
00:45:31Keep.
00:45:33Hold within me.
00:45:35That discovery.
00:45:37And to me.
00:45:39I had discovered then.
00:45:41The miracle of reality.
00:45:43And I no longer.
00:45:45Needed dreams.
00:45:46dreams. Reality was so beautiful, so complete. And I remember the little dog looking at me.
00:46:00And in a sense, the dog became so whole. Because this was so much, what I was exclaiming so happy
00:46:14I was so much a part of the dog that there was a certain tolerance, a certain patient,
00:46:24gentle tolerance on the part of the dog that allowed the dog to sit and wait until I had
00:46:31exhausted this exhilaration. And the miracle of reality, discovering it. And maybe that's
00:46:47the true journey through life. Discovering that miracle.
00:46:57One of the farmers went out into the fields, and my brother and I were at the house. When
00:47:02he came home, he brought up this snake, which was a poison snake, but he had carried it
00:47:07all the way home, alive. And when he came home, he just cut his head off. And he brought this
00:47:12skin right off his back in one shot. He took out the heart and the intestines. And he put
00:47:19the heart in his hand, and the heart was still pumping, still moving. And he said to my brother,
00:47:27yeah, swallow this will make you stronger. And then he hesitated, but he swallowed. And I
00:47:33didn't know what to do. But I wanted, I wanted to, there was only one heart.
00:47:39Anyway, I watched this bone, I think, and it was still moving. And he hung it up to let it dry,
00:47:54because he wanted to eat it after it dried up, because it's supposed to taste good. And I watched
00:48:00this thing move for around three, four hours, in amazement that it kept on moving.
00:48:07Did you ever have a pregnant dog? And how far removed we are from that reality, from that
00:48:15true reality. I remember too, taking blades of grass and not being so fascinated by the
00:48:28grass itself, or the blade of grass. But the fact that I could actually touch, I could touch,
00:48:40and I knew that I was touching the blade of grass. And then I took my fingers and I rubbed them across the grass.
00:48:55And again, it wasn't the grass that so excited me, but the fact that I could touch, touch and smell and see. And that too is the miracle of reality. And I would look again at my fingertips. And I would rub the thumb against the other fingers.
00:49:22Perhaps words don't really express it. But I would think and sometimes aloud, I would say, I can touch, I can touch, I can touch. And then I would look. And I would say, I could see, I can see, I can see.
00:49:49All the miracle of reality. And then, I guess the most exciting part, the most exciting circumstance was when I found out I could love. I could love. I could feel love.
00:50:14And that became the most beautiful miracle of reality. And that's probably the miracle that I'll never be able to quite absorb or ever become used to.
00:50:32Perhaps because love is the true, most complete miracle of reality. Perhaps it's the lost chord that we always speak of or feel the absence of.
00:50:52And what we always speak of.
00:50:54And what we're constantly in pursuit of.
00:50:56Exactly.
00:50:57It is always.
00:50:59It is always.
00:51:00See that?
00:51:01Love.
00:51:02Feeling.
00:51:03Love.
00:51:04Love.
00:51:05Feeling.
00:51:06Perhaps the true circumstance of communication.
00:51:14Because if I feel sufficiently, and if I feel with honesty, my honesty, then I am wise.
00:51:28In reacting to that.
00:51:29In reacting to that.
00:51:30And everything in front of it.
00:51:35Is wisdom.
00:51:36It has to be.
00:51:38But true wisdom.
00:51:40With a child.
00:51:43Why did you do that?
00:51:47I just felt like it, mommy.
00:51:48I just felt like it.
00:51:49I just felt like it.
00:51:50And so with love, it's like the mother that embraces all and everything.
00:52:03And makes everything feel so secure.
00:52:06And without it, there's so much insecurity.
00:52:11And even now, as I think about it, about discovering love.
00:52:19Even now, you try to drink of it, and the thirst goes on and on and on and on.
00:52:31It's an unquenchable thirst.
00:52:36And that's what life is.
00:52:38Life is love.
00:52:40In Japan, I didn't hear about the atom bombs so much until they started testing in Bikini
00:52:47Islands once again.
00:52:49And the fishermen who were fishing for a tuna nearby the islands.
00:52:54And all of a sudden, there was white flakes falling like snow everywhere around the boat
00:53:02and everything.
00:53:03And the fishermen didn't know what it was, and they thought it was snow.
00:53:08So they grabbed the snow, and they would eat some as water, because it tastes good and everything.
00:53:18After a few days, they started losing hair.
00:53:21Spins started fuming, and many died.
00:53:25And the Tunis were also poisonous.
00:53:30And he has killed many people in Japan.
00:53:33That's when it really hit me about the atom bomb.
00:53:38Because the first atom bomb I wasn't born, and the horror of it.
00:53:46Although I've seen in films and read about it, I was not born, or I was not grown enough to read about it.
00:53:59One of my friends I met here has told me about it.
00:54:02He was 100 miles away when the atom bomb was trapped in Hiroshima.
00:54:09And he was walking home from school.
00:54:12And all of a sudden, everybody around him started to bleed from their noses, including him.
00:54:20And he didn't even know what happened until later on that it was atom bomb.
00:54:29You ever hunt dragonflies?
00:54:31Many times.
00:54:34Don't you think hunting dragonflies is like hunting for something else?
00:54:41Don't you think that is the curiosity that motivates the pursuit of the dragonfly?
00:54:49I guess so.
00:54:50To me, it always meant, like, the pursuit of beauty.
00:54:54The pursuit of an ideal.
00:54:56Chasing butterflies.
00:54:59I think our life pattern is like that.
00:55:06We chase beautiful things.
00:55:09And they're ever so elusive.
00:55:12We reach out.
00:55:15You remember as kids, we would grab the butterfly and examine it so completely.
00:55:22And even that wasn't enough.
00:55:23That didn't satisfy.
00:55:24And we went to sleep at night.
00:55:25Woke up the next morning.
00:55:26And we were in pursuit of it again.
00:55:27The appetite was never satisfied.
00:55:28How long is waiting?
00:55:29How short is life?
00:55:30It's like an active waiting.
00:55:32Because even while we wait, we still, in a sense, reach out.
00:55:33As with the mind.
00:55:34That which we don't reach out for with a hand.
00:55:35We seem to reach out for the mind.
00:55:36That which we don't reach out for with a hand.
00:55:37We seem to reach out for the mind.
00:55:38So maybe it's a sort of active waiting.
00:55:39So maybe it's a sort of active waiting.
00:55:40How short is life?
00:55:41How short is life?
00:55:42It's like an active waiting.
00:55:45Because even while we wait, we still, in a sense, reach out.
00:55:51As with the mind.
00:55:54That which we don't reach out for with a hand.
00:55:58We seem to reach out for the mind.
00:56:03So maybe it's a sort of active waiting.
00:56:10And as you said.
00:56:12We enjoy happy moments.
00:56:18And the time just goes so fast.
00:56:23Maybe it's because doing that happiness.
00:56:27We have completely found ourselves.
00:56:32And nothing else really matters than time, movement, nothing.
00:56:37And perhaps it is completeness.
00:56:40And in the midst of that happiness.
00:56:43We don't care whether it is completeness or not.
00:56:46And maybe that's what true completeness is.
00:56:49Not being aware of it.
00:56:52Or being so busy with oneself.
00:56:55And the discovery of oneself.
00:56:57That we're not concerned about.
00:57:00How complete it is.
00:57:02As a little boy.
00:57:07The dreams.
00:57:08Perhaps the beginning.
00:57:10Maybe the dream is the beginning.
00:57:12Of the curiosity.
00:57:14Of asking.
00:57:15I.
00:57:16Why.
00:57:17How many times did you ask yourself that?
00:57:20I.
00:57:21Why.
00:57:22Maybe in that moment.
00:57:24Or many moments of happiness.
00:57:26Maybe it's answered.
00:57:28I.
00:57:29Why.
00:57:30Maybe the answer is received so many many times.
00:57:45And.
00:57:46Only at.
00:57:47A particular moment.
00:57:48moment or particular moments do we absorb it and there is the answer and maybe those
00:57:58particular moments mean complete discovery of oneself and when we are without the answer
00:58:06perhaps it is because we have removed ourselves from ourselves and we enter into the net of
00:58:17confusion we start gulping again trying to find footing it's like forgetting that as we walk on the
00:58:27cement there is grass there is grass beneath it and as we walk we do remember recall the fact that there
00:58:40is grass under we come closer to ourselves again could you feel the grass with the bare naked feet
00:58:54and what's near a feeling of life and what about the dreams
00:58:58as i wish i'll be able to sleep in that place that was before
00:59:08i think after a while we'll be making a place that i'm going next
00:59:15school went to many picnics
00:59:20and every time we went to see the buddha the great big big buddha where where one person could
00:59:31climb into the nostril of the buddha the whole surroundings consists of the god of the temple
00:59:42thousands of statues of eight-handed buddha mysterious sort of religious feeling and aroma i can still feel this
01:00:00i've passed by nan fuji many times because nan fuji you can see from almost anywhere in tokyo and it's top
01:00:13it's cap with the snow and it looks like a sort of like mountain of ice cream
01:00:22and
01:00:26you
01:00:27so
01:04:34I don't know if I can't tell you.
01:04:41I'm so surprised.
01:04:44I'm just so surprised.
01:04:47Thank you so much for joining us today.
01:05:17.
01:05:30.
01:05:33.
01:05:37.
01:05:42.
01:05:46.
01:05:47I thought I was a little bit more amazoo.
01:05:54I thought it was hard.
01:05:58I thought I would have stopped.
01:06:01I thought I had something to be a little longer.
01:06:04I was a little bit tired.
01:06:09I was thinking about this.
01:06:16How much do you feel about it?
01:06:20It's a good idea.
01:06:22We've been running a lot by a young man,
01:06:24and we've been running a lot.
01:06:29But we have been running a lot.
01:06:34At the same time, we have been running a lot.
01:06:36We've been running a lot.
01:06:40But it's not that long-winded, but short-time.
01:06:44It's not that long-winded.
01:06:46Medium-style.
01:06:48It's not that long-winded.
01:06:50It's not that short-time.
01:06:52And there's a long-winded, but never-mind.
01:06:57I think it's a long-winded.
01:07:00Do you have to be Japanese?
01:07:04I mean, I'm not sure.
01:07:06I'm not sure because we're all together with all people.
01:07:14I've been in the same time.
01:07:15I've been driving all this time,
01:07:18and I think that's how I was doing.
01:07:22And I'm like, I'm not sure.
01:07:24Oh, I know.
01:07:25I've been so busy.
01:07:26I think that's how I do it.
01:07:29That's how I do it.
01:07:31Harumi is the only one that has to connect with each other.
01:07:39Please tell me about it.
01:07:42As I said, Harumi said,
01:07:45it's hard to communicate with each other.
01:07:49It's hard to communicate with each other.
01:07:54I think that when you're in a person, you can't see it.
01:08:03If you have to look at him, he will be better.
01:08:07He will say that he is good or bad.
01:08:13I think that there is a person that has a heart.
01:08:18It'll be entirely wrong.
01:08:19It'll be true if you have the job.
01:08:20If you have the job, make yourself well.
01:08:22If you have the job, make your heart like this.
01:08:24That's what you have to say.
01:08:25Man, I have no idea.
01:08:26You have to see your mind.
01:08:29You have to see it.
01:08:30You have to see it.
01:08:32You have to see it.
01:08:34I know.
01:08:39I can tell you to just take the person's position.
01:08:42That's what I have to do.
01:08:46I'm not sure how to interpret this character in a very different way.
01:08:51It's why there's a character in that character.
01:08:54So you can see his character in the character.
01:08:59You can easily see some people who are all the same.
01:09:04So many people, when you see the character in the character,
01:09:08you can see the character that's how they're doing.
01:09:11That's why the shape is so important.
01:09:15The shape is so important.
01:09:17I can't say that.
01:09:19The shape is so important in this process.
01:09:31What are Japanese?
01:09:32Yes, German.
01:09:34They change the sounds.
01:09:37They say,
01:09:39.
01:09:42.
01:09:45.
01:09:51.
01:09:55.
01:10:00.
01:10:05.
01:10:07I don't know how many people have been, but I'm not sure how many people have been taught.
01:10:18But you can be given on a child's feelings to give away.
01:10:26You are always right.
01:10:29You can be given on a child's feelings to what they don't understand.
01:10:34I'm always wondering if I'm a kid who's watching this world,
01:10:38I'm wondering if they're like,
01:10:40or if they're in the world,
01:10:41and they say,
01:10:43I'm wondering why I want to live my feelings.
01:10:44The kids' lives in the world,
01:10:45in the world,
01:10:48people who want them to live their feelings.
01:10:51They want to live their feelings.
01:10:55There's so many people who want them to live.
01:10:59I'm always watching people on the new world.
01:11:06I'm always watching people on the same way.
01:11:09I don't have a feeling, but I don't have a feeling.
01:11:14I don't have a feeling.
01:11:16I don't have a feeling.
01:11:21But I think that the Japanese people who are a part of the law,
01:11:29the law or the law,
01:11:31and that they are not allowed to be able to do something.
01:11:35And I think that the parents of my father and father,
01:11:41So I can't wait to see what I've been doing.
01:11:48But I can't wait to see what I've been doing.
01:11:55But I can't wait to see what I've been doing.
01:12:04I want to see what I want to see.
01:12:09What do you want to see what I want to see?
01:12:14Do you want to see what I want to see?
01:12:18This is the beginning of the rock and roll.
01:12:23I don't like it anymore.
01:12:27I don't like it anymore.
01:12:30I want to see what I want to see.
01:12:33There is a lot of music.
01:12:41I want to see what I want to see.
01:12:47I can see what I want to see.
01:12:50I want to see what I want to see.
01:12:57I don't know.
01:12:59It's not a music.
01:13:02It's not a music.
01:13:07I don't know.
01:13:11That's what I think.
01:13:13Yeah.
01:13:14That's what I think.
01:13:16It's hard to say.
01:13:20It's hard to say.
01:13:24I don't know if it's a good idea, but it's not a good idea.
01:13:30I can only imagine the words from the music.
01:13:34I don't know if it's a good idea.
01:13:38I don't know if it's a good idea.
01:13:42But I think that it's a good idea.
01:13:46I don't know
01:13:48I'm not
01:13:50I'm
01:13:52I'm
01:13:54I'm
01:13:56I'm
01:13:58I'm
