00:00iOS 26 is one of the biggest updates for iOS in recent years.
00:05I would even go so far as to say that it is one of the biggest updates that Apple has
00:09delivered since iOS 7.
00:11It features the completely new design language liquid glass, and I have already taken a closer
00:16look at it in the beta phase over the past few weeks, and you will now experience it
00:20on your iPhones in the next few days.
00:22In this video, you can also use the chapter markers to jump to the section that interests
00:26you personally.
00:27I would like to give you 10 quick tips that I have discovered in the last few days.
00:30And don't worry, I won't just be sharing the big tips that are generally known anyway,
00:35but maybe also a few little insider tips that I have discovered.
00:38And I would like to spend a few minutes talking about my impressions, especially of the beta
00:42and of iOS 26 in general.
00:45So, I would say it is a jam-packed video.
00:47Let's jump right in.
00:55Before I get to my conclusion on iOS 26, let's start with the tips for the new version of
01:00iOS.
01:02And here I'll start with something that I've personally missed for years.
01:05Namely, you can finally set the snooze mode or the length of the snooze mode yourself.
01:11To do this, go to the clock, go to the corresponding travel time, then you'll see it and you can
01:16finally set the snooze function, the snooze length.
01:19Up until now, you can also google why that is.
01:22Ah, it was 9 minutes.
01:23Personally, I always found it a bit too long, so I changed it to 5 minutes, which is the
01:28ideal time for snooze mode for me.
01:31The browser has also changed a bit visually and the browser tabs are no longer as easy
01:35to reach.
01:36At first, I thought that this would only be possible via the 3 dots in the menu, but it
01:41can also be done via a swipe.
01:42If you swipe up a bit at the bottom of the address bar, you have to make sure that you
01:46don't go all the way to the multitasking overview, but if you swipe up a bit across the address
01:51bar, you get a good overview of the browser tabs and can then close or switch between them
01:55more quickly.
01:56I personally find this very, very practical.
01:59I personally like the large clock on the game's lock screen.
02:02I thought it was really, really nice when it was announced.
02:04I would've liked to use it too.
02:06It's not the tip yet.
02:07I'll get to that in a moment.
02:08Unfortunately, you can only use it if the wallpaper fits accordingly.
02:11It works with the default wallpaper from iOS 26.
02:15But if you're wondering why it doesn't work for you, i.e. you can drag the whole thing
02:19up or down when you go to the lock screen in the options, then your wallpaper is simply
02:24not suitable for it.
02:25What I did change right away, however, is that there is a thicker clock, a denser clock
02:30on the lock screen, because you can also use the liquid glass look.
02:35Then, for me, the weather and date view above it is a different thickness than the time
02:39below it, and to be honest, that personally bothered me a bit about the look of the always-on
02:44display.
02:46Accordingly, I would like to change both to liquid class, so that the top and bottom are
02:50a bit transparent.
02:52Unfortunately, this cannot be changed for all elements on the always-on display.
02:56Accordingly, I decided to make the clock a bit denser again so that the whole thing looks
03:01a bit more uniform.
03:03And then Apple updated the Photos app this year.
03:07I hope you'll forgive me for only showing you a screenshot or something like that.
03:11For privacy reasons, I won't show you my photo gallery from the last few days, where
03:15I took personal pictures while on vacation.
03:18But I was wondering, if you scroll up a bit, how do you get back to the last and most recent
03:23picture or pictures?
03:25Because if you're in the middle of something, you might want to quickly get back to the beginning.
03:29You can do that by clicking on years, months, or all at the bottom, for example.
03:34Then the photo gallery scrolls back to the most recent image.
03:37Since the whole thing is relatively easy, I think the new Photos app is really well done
03:42and with this little tip you can also use it very, very easily.
03:45And there's a new and very, very practical function for iOS 26, namely the so-called Waiting
03:51Queue Assistance, which means that the operating system takes over the waiting in the queue for
03:55you.
03:55So go directly to the settings, search for phone and activate Waiting Queue Assistance
04:00there.
04:01A really, very practical function.
04:04And then there's a new power mode, which regulates the adaptive performance of your iPhone and
04:09can optimize the battery life according to Apple, but can also reduce power accordingly.
04:14So the operating system then looks to see if there are any things it can do that will optimize your
04:20battery life a bit, but it's also possible that power will be reduced.
04:24Since I'm a bit more satisfied with the battery life in the last betas, I've disabled it.
04:29By the way, it only works with the iPhone 15 Pro and higher.
04:32Just a note here, in case you can't see it, it only works with newer iPhones.
04:36I've been using a separate app for PDFs up until now, but I have to say that the new
04:40preview app for editing and quickly editing PDFs is actually completely sufficient for
04:45me.
04:45Here's a tip for you.
04:46I usually install new apps after I've looked at them.
04:49I did the same with the game app, but I find the new preview app very practical.
04:54I've left it pre-installed for now.
04:56As I said, it's completely sufficient for editing PDFs.
04:59And then there's another tip for the camera app.
05:03If you want to access the settings with the new look, I thought you had to twist your thumb
05:07into the right corner at the top to adjust the settings.
05:11But you can also click on photo or video at the bottom and swipe it up a bit and then the
05:16settings will be displayed directly.
05:18You'll hopefully see it here in the video, and that makes the whole thing very, very quick.
05:23I don't know, Apple didn't explain it anywhere, I think.
05:26I found out by chance when I actually wanted to switch.
05:29Ah, it's also very, very practical that you can get to the settings faster.
05:34And then I also find it very practical that you can take a screenshot and then ask Apple
05:39Intelligence what's on it or maybe there's an appointment entry or something and that's
05:43then transferred to your calendar.
05:45This works, for example, when searching for things with ChatGBT.
05:49For me, this function wasn't quite as reliable in the beta so far.
05:53But when it worked, I thought it was really great.
05:55So I can recommend that you try it out.
05:57My last tip, the 10th tip, is a new highlight for CBL, which maybe not everyone will use.
06:03By the way, I think Liquid Liquid Glass looks really, really good.
06:07There's now a completely new screen with widgets.
06:10You can simply swipe all the way to the left.
06:13You can also change the widgets.
06:14I filmed the whole thing, but I think I recorded a video of it in clay mode, because my iPhone
06:19was a little overwhelmed in the car.
06:21So don't be surprised if it stutters a bit, but I think this new widget view is very well
06:25done.
06:26I really like it and you can always try it out to see if it might be something for you
06:30too.
06:31And what's my conclusion after a few weeks with iOS 26 or iPad OS 26 and the like?
06:39I've been using it on the iPad for a while now.
06:41I actually like the operating system in terms of functionality, but I also had to get used
06:46to the new Liquid Class look, which I then tried out on the iPhone a week or two later.
06:51And I have to say, it looks pretty good.
06:54In many places, I really like how many details Apple has incorporated back into the operating
06:59system.
07:00You can tell that it's a bit battery hungry, especially with the initial beta, but here
07:04and there it's also a bit too much for me in terms of shimmering or animations.
07:11It looks a bit like an old, bad jailbreak.
07:13An old jailbreak look that I used back then, or a bit like Windows Vista style, and maybe
07:19a bit less shimmer effect and a bit more of a milky look, like we saw with the second
07:23or third beta, I think.
07:27Personally, I would have liked a bit more vision and a bit more shimmery glass look.
07:32So basically I like the new approach and I like it, and especially if you've used iOS
07:3718 again, which I also have here in my household, then it does seem a bit more modern.
07:42But in many places I find the operating system just a bit too much in terms of effects and
07:48shimmering effects.
07:49I would have expected a bit more minimalism from Apple and the designers at Apple, but
07:53basically a nice step forward in terms of all the functions and now also all the tips,
07:58there have been a few changes.
08:00I like the new Photos app a lot better again, so overall a successful upgrade.
08:05I'm curious about the runtime of the final version.
08:07Now with beta 9 or beta 6 for the public, I have the feeling that it has improved a little
08:13bit again, but the battery life was still a bit of a problem until the end of the beta
08:17phase and was not entirely optimal, and I almost suspect that Apple will make significant improvements
08:23in this area after the release, when everyone is using the new version of iOS.
08:28So, that's it from me.
08:30I hope the tips have helped you.
08:31If you are using the beta, feel free to let me know your impressions of iOS 26 and CO, and
08:37otherwise, I would like to say thank you for watching.
08:40If you enjoyed the video, please give it a thumbs up.
08:43See you in the next video.
