00:01France is bracing for a turbulent week with Prime Minister François Bayrou's
00:05government facing a confidence vote on late Monday and calls for a nationwide
00:09blockade on Wednesday. The government is widely expected to fall as a broad
00:15coalition of opposition parties from the far right to the far left has vowed to
00:20vote against it. A collapse would leave President Emmanuel Macron with a
00:25problematic choice. Appoint a new Prime Minister or dissolve Parliament once again.
00:31Two days later on Wednesday the country could face widespread disruptions from a
00:36call to block everything. The movement involving political activists and trade
00:41unions has suggested strikes, demonstrations and blockades of strategic
00:45sites. Authorities estimate up to 100,000 people could take part, though the
00:52interior minister says he does not fear a large-scale movement.
