00:00Kavirji, first of all, welcome to INS.
00:02Thank you, thank you for having me.
00:04And Kavirji, first of all, congratulations on a debut film, Bobby or Rishi's love story.
00:10So how was your awesome experience, the on-screen chemistry as well as off-screen reality?
00:15What difference did you find in that?
00:18On-screen chemistry versus off-screen reality?
00:23Well, Vardhan and I, we're very good friends, so we have chemistry off-screen as well.
00:33And on-screen, yeah, it was fun to develop that chemistry and play with it.
00:40I think our natural chemistry really added to our acting in the film.
00:48Talking about your debut movie, how was the wholesome experience of filming the thing?
00:55Because this was your debut movie, so what was the wholesome experience?
00:59It was a lot of fun.
01:01You know, I went into it like fully wide-eyed.
01:04I didn't know, I'd never been, as an actor, I'd never been on a set before.
01:09I didn't know I wanted to be an actor before this film.
01:13But I had the time of my life.
01:16Like, it was one of those moments where when we started acting, I was like, yeah.
01:21Like, I am meant to do this.
01:24I feel it in my soul.
01:26I really enjoyed it.
01:28Talking about your screen presence, which impressed everyone.
01:32So, talking about your acting thing.
01:35Acting ka kheera kapse aya, and yet, do you think that it was a surprise decision for you?
01:41Acting ka kheera mujh mein thoda late aya, I would say.
01:45I was around like 20 or 21.
01:50But, once I started this journey, I'm very set that this is something I want to continue doing for the rest of my life.
02:04But, I wasn't one of those kids who was like, who grew up knowing I wanted to be an actor.
02:12I grew up wanting to do music.
02:16Right.
02:17Debut film, what was the reaction of your family, especially Shaker Kapoor's reaction, and what was the feedback that he gave you?
02:29He was, of course he was very proud of me.
02:32There was some constructive criticism that he gave me, which I really appreciated.
02:42And, yeah, overall he said, I did a good job and I have great potential, which, yeah, I think is where I'm at.
02:54There are some comments which we have read and it was said that you remind of your mom also.
03:02Hmm.
03:03So, tell us something about that. How did you find that comment?
03:07Lovely. I mean, I'm happy to remind people of my mom. I mean, I am her daughter. So, I will remind people of her and she's very talented. So, that gives me hope. It makes me feel good.
03:24So, talking about, when you are in the industry, so, there is always a talk of outsiders and insiders. So, tell us something about that.
03:37In your circle, do people take it rightfully or seriously?
03:43Nepotism especially.
03:45In my circle, see, my circle, the people I spend most of my time with, other than my parents, they're not actors. So, they don't really have a take on it. But, if you ask me like,
04:05Yes, I understand this frustration. I understand that people are frustrated about the, like, difference in opportunity that people are getting. But, I think, I don't think it's fair to send so much hate to someone for following their passion.
04:30I think if you, if you, if you are passionate about something, you're willing to work hard. You're good at it. And you have the means and resources to pursue it. Why wouldn't you? I think, while I do understand the frustration.
04:47Yes, I mean, I mean, people are angry and that's also understandable. But, I feel that they should put themselves in the shoes of people that they are sending hate to.
05:03Because, if you, if your childhood was a dream of acting, you're passionate about it, you love it, it's all you want to do, or you had those opportunities, there's no one that wouldn't take the opportunity, you know?
05:23So, I don't know. I think there's two sides to the coin. But, I have a lot of empathy for the people that get flack for nepotism, you know?
05:39Talking about your fans, they are really excited for your next venture, which is Masu. And, your father is directing. So, how was, how, according to you, will be the experience with him?
05:51As well as, you're working with legendary actors like Shabana Azni and Maroon Gashpayee. So, tell us something about him.
05:58I'm, I'm, I'm so excited. I'm so excited. Yes, it's a little intimidating. But, I've been on set with my dad before and the way that he understands human nature and his actors and can guide them into their character so perfectly.
06:20I'm really excited to be a part of that process and also to be able to learn from, like you said, these legendary, like, very, very talented, very experienced actors.
06:33I think it will be, I think it's a huge opportunity for me and I'm, I'm nervous but I'm, I'm very excited and very grateful.
06:41You are from the singing background. So, tell us something about some projects which are parallel running from acting also.
06:52Well, I have, I have an EP coming out soon with this British producer called Naughty Boy. You know the song that's like, la la, la la la la la, na na na na na na.
07:05No? Okay, anyway, that's a song. It was a very popular song but I have an EP that I wrote and he produced and it should be out soon.
07:12Talking about web series, there are people who are trying a web series also. So, what are you planning on OTT?
07:22No talks but I'm very open to it. I just want to, want to do work that excites me and challenges me as an actor. So, I don't think the platform really matters to me.
07:43Your father doesn't reside with you because he is outside India.
07:47Yeah.
07:51So, tell us something about that. When, when you meet, so, what type of conversation you chat with him or what?
08:00Some of it is professional obviously because I'm working with him but a lot of it is like, he's my dad.
08:06He's going to be, talk to me like a father. So, a lot of the conversations are just regular father-daughter conversations.
08:17We also talk a lot about like philosophy and psychology and art and the things we're interested in.
08:23He, yeah, it's very, it's quite, there's nothing that you wouldn't expect.
08:36You both have a cinematic taste, it's quite different. If you, Shekar Ji, who are directing you,
08:43if you would like a story or a period drama or modern love, or psychologically, what would you like to direct you?
08:53See, I, yeah, our tastes in, in genres are quite different but as an actor, any kind of acting experience excites me.
09:09So, I, I would do horror, thriller, a period drama, I would do all of it because acting in general excites me.
09:18So, my, the, the content that I consume versus the content that I be a part, that I want to be a part of may not align.
09:27But I just, I really love the process of acting and exploring another character and I really want to play a villain.
09:36Nobody's casting me as a villain because of my face, but I really want to.
09:40Imagine, like it would be such a like shock to, I think it's a very good idea.
09:47If anybody wants to cast me as a villain.
09:51Lastly, we want to hear that a small rapid fire round, like the first celebrity crush.
09:59Uh, Harry Styles.
10:01Can I be a woman?
10:12Yeah.
10:13Alia Bhatt.
10:14Okay.
10:15Last message you received from my co-star, after seeing your film.
10:18After seeing my film?
10:20This was in February.
10:22Still anyone you remember who messaged you?
10:26I had only one co-star.
10:27He said.
10:28Other than, uh, from industry friends or like.
10:32From industry of friends or like.
10:34Yeah.
10:35Oh, that they're so, that they were very proud of me.
10:39Okay.
10:40And who messaged you?
10:41Like, who was that?
10:42My, like, my friends, my, my family, Vardhan.
10:47So.
10:48Uh, biggest myth?
10:49We had a screening, so a lot of the reactions were, like, in person.
10:54Okay.
10:55Uh, biggest myth about being a star kid?
10:58Biggest myth about being a star kid.
11:05Well, I don't, I don't, I don't know any myths that people are talking about.
11:11But I think people assume that it's much easier for us.
11:19Which is, it is easier to get your foot into the, in the door.
11:22That's for sure.
11:23But, once you have that, you have to sustain yourself.
11:26Okay.
11:27Uh, other.
11:28And talent will speak for itself in the long run, you know.
11:32That's what I think.
11:34Agar ek roll dubara karna ho.
11:37Agar aku ek roll dubara karna ho.
11:39Agar aku ek roll dubara karna ho.
11:40Libika in cocktail.
11:41Or Alia in Raji.
11:43Toh konsa roll karna ho?
11:44Can I do Alia in highway?
11:47I want to do Alia in highway.
11:50Why?
11:51What is the one reason that found you interesting in that?
11:54Um, I just love the way she did it.
11:57And like her vulnerability.
11:59And, um, her ability to be someone so completely different from who she is.
12:05And the way that she, um, like fell in love with her, um, captor or her kidnapper.
12:15It's just the way that she did it.
12:17And like the, the psychology of that film.
12:22I would just love to do that.
12:24Um, not because, and I'm like, not because I think I would do it better than her.
12:30Just because I think it would be such a great experience for me to do that film.
12:34Um, yeah.
12:35Uh, lastly we want to hear that, uh, um, social media ka zamanaj harko ye bolta hai ki madlab,
12:39uh, uh, young, youngsters jo aaj kal social media pe jada follow karte hai hain rather than their acting.
12:44So, kya kehahna chahehye aku?
12:46Uh, kari kritiks ka ye maan nahe ki jo bi youngster young except air.
12:51Unka jo ha social media pe jah da hai hissi dae acting pe jah na fokus ne hi hain h je.
12:55yeah no i i think unfortunately or fortunately um today being an actor also means being a hundred
13:07other things you become a brand you know and and so yeah a lot of a lot of the attention will go
13:15to your personality or your brand which is which is fine if if it works for the person
13:23and they enjoy it but for me as an actor i social media like is ruining my life it's like i find it
13:32very difficult to like find a way to be my authentic self but also portray myself in a in a way that
13:40will grab people's attention um so like yeah two sides to every coin i think
13:46lastly uh tell us what message you have to give to your friends um i first i don't know if i have
13:56any fans but um something i've been thinking about a lot lately is um
14:07like mental health and how sometimes it can ignore we can be ignored and it's a very challenging thing
14:19to deal with so i don't know i would i would say if you're struggling um with your mental health
14:26um i get it um i hope you have someone to talk to um life is hard so like i love you keep holding on
14:37and um yeah don't be afraid to reach out if you need to oh thank you thank you thank you
