00:00Welcome back to SupermotoCross World Championship Playoffs on NBC.
00:07As the 450 Class, these are the biggest, fastest bikes, get ready for their first playoff race of the year.
00:13James Stewart, give us the progressive keys to the moto.
00:15Well, all these guys outside of Jet Lawrence, they need to establish the momentum.
00:19That's Chase Sexton, that's Eli Tomac.
00:21Can't stress to you how important it is for these guys to get off to a good start and no big mistakes.
00:26We saw a lot of mistakes made in that 250 race.
00:28See if these guys are going to eliminate that.
00:30Let's get it going, RC. Let's get it.
00:32Yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun.
00:33A lot of guys riding well earlier today.
00:36The practice, Chase Sexton being the fastest, like Will was reporting about.
00:40And it's a lot in this start.
00:43Also, this track, very tough to pass in the backstage, or back part.
00:47And also, you have a gate of healthy and ready competitors.
00:51They've been in and out of the motocross and Supercross Championship all year.
00:54Maybe the only rider missing, unfortunately, your brother, James Malcolm Stewart,
00:58who is third ranked coming into this, hurt his back yesterday and will not be able to line up.
01:02Yeah, he tried earlier today, but he couldn't.
01:05So when he comes out, it's a big injury.
01:07Bummer came in third in his points.
01:10Hopefully he'll be back next week.
01:11I saw him case that jump where he hurt himself in.
01:14It was a really, really hard impact on that rhythm lane, I believe,
01:18when he was trying to step up onto the tabletop.
01:21Yeah, the ground had to get worked on, too.
01:22Yeah, when he hits, he hits hard, no doubt about it.
01:26Okay, so this is it.
01:27It'll be another 20-minute plus-one-lap race for the top superstars of the 450 division,
01:32the Lawrence brothers, Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton, Ken Rockson, Cooper Webb, Justin Cooper, and more.
01:38Rebs are up.
01:40Gates down to the split start.
01:42We're going to race to the middle.
01:43And then the tracks will merge.
01:50Jet.
01:51Jet Lawrence, yes, on the number one with Eli Tomac, the living legend,
01:55right there behind him on the three, and Chase Sexton in third.
01:58We got all the heat up front, James.
02:00Yeah, we got Kenny Rockson, and Chase Sexton actually had the hole shot going to that corner,
02:05but just ran a little bit of wide.
02:06Now look at him.
02:07He slid back to that fourth, fifth spot.
02:10A couple mistakes there early as Tomac looks to attack.
02:13Lawrence, Lawrence has the progressive hole shot,
02:16but Tomac, the multi-time champion, going after the youngster.
02:20Yeah, and I think it's important for Eli to get around Jet.
02:22We've seen it happen all, I mean, since Jet been in a 450 career.
02:26You allow him with a couple laps, this kid starts getting relaxed.
02:28It's going to be hard to beat him.
02:30Eli needs to make that pass.
02:32You can already see Jet starting to get away right now.
02:34Yeah, and Jet, you know, he takes his time, I feel like, at the beginning of the races.
02:39He gets his, gets settled in, and probably his competitors know that.
02:43And like you said, James, it would be super important if the three can get up there.
02:47But I like Kenny.
02:48We're talking off there.
02:50Yeah, yeah.
02:50I like, you'd be silly not to pick him.
02:52I just, I like the intensity that Kenny brings at the beginning of the races.
02:56He's hungry.
02:57He said he feels really good on the bike.
02:59Bike's working well.
03:00Seems like he's in a good headspace as well.
03:02That's Roxanna, that 94 in yellow.
03:05The progressive Suzuki, and he is challenging his own rival, Tomac, for second.
03:10Yeah, this used to be a battle for the championship.
03:12These two guys should kind of bring it back to history.
03:14Now they got that 18 or number one in front of him.
03:17Nice recovery by Chase Sexton.
03:18He got passed by a couple people and looked like he made his way back up.
03:21So he understands the importance of staying with these guys.
03:26And then Cooper Webb, the Monster Energy Supercross champion, is fifth.
03:29So a lot of the riders figured to contend coming in have started together
03:34as Roxanna is looking to make a move on Tomac.
03:37Yeah, you can see how difficult his track is already, Rick.
03:40Yeah, and it's so deep.
03:42It's gotten much deeper on the faces of the jumps.
03:45You look at it, they're super, super ruddy.
03:47So what it does for these guys, they actually have to slow down
03:50and can't attack the jumps as hard as maybe they would
03:53because the bike compresses so much.
03:56And you can drag foot pegs, maybe go over the handlebars because of that.
04:00So they're going to have to be mindful.
04:01And it's so hard to do that when you're trying to push it
04:04and keep up with a guy like Jett Lawrence.
04:06Yeah, that was a mistake by Jett.
04:08It looked like he almost went down.
04:09I think he tried doubling where we saw Hayden Deegan making those passes.
04:12So a small mistake by him, but those guys weren't able to capitalize on it.
04:17Now Roxen under fire from Sexton.
04:20Roxen, two-time 450 pro motocross champion out of Germany there
04:24in that teal and black gear.
04:27But here comes Sexton, the 2024 450 motocross champion,
04:30the number four, working the outside line.
04:33Yeah, and you heard Ken Roxen in the opening say
04:36that you can lose a lot of time from one mistake.
04:39Well, you just saw that play out.
04:40Look how much time he lost to Eli Tomac, just a small mistake.
04:43And if I'm Chase next, I've got to jump all over my riding partner.
04:47Rod's what I'm doing in the week.
04:48Yeah.
04:49Justin Cooper, the top seed coming into the playoffs, is way back.
04:5422nd place.
04:55Must have fallen early.
04:57Yeah, that's not what you want with Justin Cooper.
05:00He's had a tough day so far.
05:02Well, he has – but that's, like, kind of out of character for Justin Cooper
05:06because he's super dependable.
05:08I mean, hence the red plate coming in with the number one seed.
05:11He's been the most consistent guy, normally gets great starts,
05:14and you always see him most of the time at least in the top five early on in the races.
05:19So that's out of pocket for him.
05:21Yeah, but you know having that red plate makes people ride a little different on there.
05:26Not saying that's what it is, but I think a lot has to do with just this track
05:29and everybody – it's the playoff, man.
05:31Everybody's ramped their game up, and he's got to be on it.
05:35And Roxxon able to fend off the challenge from Sexton
05:37as Jet Lawrence begins to get away, the 22-year-old out of Australia.
05:42There's Tomac in pursuit in third.
05:45Tomac won the first motor this race a year ago.
05:47He'd like to do it again.
05:48I feel like Tomac's – I mean, he's keeping Jet right there inside.
05:52Jet for sure isn't pulling away.
05:54And, you know what, I really respect Eli Tomac
05:56and the approach that he's had for the SMX playoffs.
05:59He was down at the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha facility Monday and Tuesday
06:05in Cairo, Georgia, testing his SMX suspension setup.
06:09And now he's leaving this team next year,
06:10but that just shows you the dedication and want to win,
06:15knowing when you're leaving.
06:16Will?
06:18And there's the running order of his teammates with Webb in sixth.
06:21And Cooper mentioned it in 22nd.
06:23Yeah, Will, what have you heard?
06:24We're just coming off the back of what Ricky was saying there
06:27and the prep that went in for Eli Tomac coming up onto this event.
06:31Well, I got to speak to their guys over there at the Yamaha Star Racing Paddock,
06:36specifically their suspension guy, and he said he was the easiest.
06:40The easiest out of all three riders, that being Cooper Webb, Eli Tomac, and Justin Cooper.
06:44He said that set up for him, they got it dialed in, and that's it.
06:47He was good to go, and he hasn't asked for any changes.
06:49So I think that perhaps guy speaks volumes about where he's at.
06:52No doubt, Will.
06:53Meanwhile, Sexton has made the move on Roxton for third.
06:56Yeah, it's good to see Chase to get around him.
06:58And, you know, looking at this racetrack, I think it's going to allow these guys
07:02to somewhat stay with Jett.
07:03Like, the way it is, he's going to have to be really patient.
07:06So as long as Eli and these guys don't make mistakes,
07:09you're not going to see Jett just run away from these guys.
07:12It's going to be a game of tuition as far as the way it goes,
07:15and let's see if he can do it.
07:16And as I say that, you start to see Jett get away.
07:18Right.
07:18I mean, do you think because of, like, you talked about how the track is,
07:22because it's soft and you can't move around?
07:25Yeah, just because it's really deep.
07:27And as you said earlier, the way these guys got to be patient in these rhythm sections,
07:30like, you can't charge through it.
07:31If you overjump, you're going to have issues.
07:33And because of that, the way Jett runs, I think he's just going to be patient
07:36and hopefully just ride out front, which is going to allow these guys to stay in here, JT.
07:40Well, you know, thinking about Jett Lawrence, this is going to sound unorthodox,
07:45but I think that Jett will ride as slowly and safely as these guys will allow him to.
07:51So if Eli Tomac doesn't bring the fight of Chase Sexton, who's trying to desperately catch up,
07:56if they don't bring the fight up to Jett,
07:58you're not going to see Jett push any harder than he is right now.
08:01He's extremely comfortable with a two- to three-second lead.
08:04I would say the most comfortable we've ever seen in the history of the sport.
08:08That's what he's doing right now.
08:09And he just finds this little lead, and he'll take it all the way to the end
08:12unless you're willing and able to force the issue.
08:15It's so much different, JT, than how, like, in mine and James A's.
08:19And even when you were racing, JT, like, we wanted to win by 20 seconds.
08:23These guys in this generation, like Jett Lawrence, they're okay with a two-second lead.
08:29So, like, us in the booth, at least for me, I'm thinking, like, oh, man, the guy in second, like Eli,
08:34he's got him, he's coming, he's right there.
08:36But they're so good at maintaining a small gap, like JT was talking about.
08:40But go back to this race last year.
08:43This is the same scenario, Jett and Eli, back and forth.
08:48I like it.
08:49And Roxen shuffled back to fourth behind Sexton RC.
08:52And look, now Hunter Lawrence, that's the teammate and brother of Jett,
08:56beginning to move forward, normally known for the good starts.
08:59But this time, Hunter having to do some work through the middle of the path.
09:02Yeah, you wonder what happened because, as you said, normally both brothers get on the great start.
09:07So, something might have happened with him.
09:09And I think the way, like I was saying, the track is Jett will be really comfortable
09:13because those guys are going to have to push it to catch him.
09:16And we see how easy it is to make a lot of mistakes.
09:19Roxen, who is so good at this championship, took it down to the wire against Jett Lawrence in 2023.
09:25Nearly won it.
09:26We asked him yesterday about the strategy.
09:27How important is race one of three?
09:29I mean, since this is really only three races, all the results matter.
09:35But I would say out of all the three, obviously the first one is not going to matter quite as much
09:39since we doubled the points, right?
09:41So, yeah, but we want to do good, right?
09:45We want to kick this thing off on a good note for sure right away.
09:49But, yeah, we'll just feel it out.
09:50I feel really ready.
09:51I've been putting in as much work as I could have over the last few weeks.
09:55And, yeah, I'm just ready to put it to the test in the racing environment.
09:58But, James, we talked this week on our conference calls, getting ready for this weekend.
10:04And I agree with Kenny.
10:05I think if you're going to have a race where you maybe aren't up to par, this is the one because of the points.
10:11It's just, you know, the points aren't double to triple.
10:13So I think he's right on target there.
10:15Yeah, no, I agree with him.
10:16But I think just on the flip side, the points are one thing, but just the momentum of having a good race is, I think, just as important.
10:24And so for these guys that really feel like they have a chance to beat Jet Lawrence in this championship, I believe they have to finish in front of them.
10:31Even though they still have a mathematically chance to win this championship, just mentally, I don't know if they would be that way if they wouldn't be able to get through it.
10:40Barely able to get through that little double jump.
10:42As silly as it sounds, and as small as that jump is, it's extremely difficult.
10:47A lot of riders having problems there, and that's because of how heavy and sticky this dirt is.
10:53Kind of reminds me of the old Seattle back in the day, the way this track's starting to break down.
10:58It's going to get slower and slower, and you're going to see a lot more of those mistakes.
11:01So the guy that's going to be able to adjust the most and be able to switch his lines up, have the best finish around this racetrack.
11:07Meanwhile, Hampshire has also made a move.
11:11Cooper Webb has been pushed back to seventh.
11:13Supercross champion, telling our Will Christen at the top of the show, the knee injury he's coming back from with these ruts has been challenging.
11:19So he's at seventh.
11:21Veranda, Savace, Barsha round out of the top ten.
11:24You know those knees do not like these ruts.
11:26Good run for Savace right now.
11:29He hasn't been racing very much lately, taking some time off.
11:33So great job for that quad lock Honda team.
11:35There's Roxen working with pressure from Hunter Lawrence.
11:42Supermotocross playoffs will continue next Saturday.
11:44The points double in St. Louis, Missouri.
11:47Then the SMX World Championship final in Las Vegas, Nevada.
11:51Triple points.
11:52Champions will be crowned.
11:54Supermotocross.com for tickets and information on all of these races.
11:59And what a race right now as Hunter Lawrence bears down on Ken Roxen, the veteran out of Germany.
12:04Now, an interesting story.
12:06The Lawrence brothers are from Australia, but they spent a lot of time in Europe.
12:10And it was actually Roxen's dad who took them in and let them stay at their house for a while.
12:15Kenny was already moved to the United States as Hunter makes the pass on him.
12:19So Kenny's relationship with the Lawrence brothers, they didn't meet until they moved over here.
12:23But his dad really saw something special in the brothers, took him under the wing, and they've certainly proven him right.
12:29Yeah, a lot of influence from the Roxen family for sure in how the Lawrences approached their racing, especially early on in their career over here.
12:37I just...
12:39Oh, Sexton closing on Tomac.
12:41Yeah, and you can see Jett right in front of him.
12:43I mean, from Ken Roxen looking at my dad, like, why didn't you lock the door?
12:47I mean, what'd you do, son?
12:49He let these guys in here, but nonetheless, that's how all these guys are, to help each other out.
12:55Yeah, now he's coming back and saying, you're helping the guy who I got to battle on the track.
12:59I mean, lap times right here, guys.
13:01Jett was first, 159.1, 159.2, 159.2 for Eli and Chase.
13:07I mean, they are mirroring their lap times here.
13:11And as JT mentioned earlier, we're going to find out where Jett is.
13:15If he picks up the pace, then we'll kind of know he's just been rotting this two seconds because he sees that number four creeping up, and we're just past halfway.
13:24And all three just set their fastest lap of the race.
13:28So, James, is that the intensity picking up?
13:30Is that the track coming around?
13:32What are we seeing right now with the big wave point?
13:34Yeah, I think a little bit of both.
13:35To me, it looks like the track's going away, but these guys are picking up the intensity.
13:39Gotcha.
13:39It's offsetting that.
13:40So, I believe they're getting confidence.
13:43Eli has the confidence that he's staying here with Jett.
13:45Normally, he's already gotten away, and Chase is getting that confidence that he's closing in.
13:48So, this race is starting to tighten up.
13:51It's going to be who doesn't make that mistake, Ricky.
13:52Yeah, I was thinking exactly, like, it's impressive that they're running these lap times because I think the track isn't at its best, and these guys are sending it.
14:01They're running out of time and absolutely going for it.
14:05I mean, these are some relatively routine double jumps back there that we're seeing them struggle to clear.
14:11Right.
14:11Yeah, there ain't nothing routine about these jumps right now, and this track is brutal.
14:14Yeah, and they're getting closer and closer to the edge.
14:17So, this guy's got to be careful not to get cross-riding because it'd be easy to jump off this racetrack, JT.
14:24Well, you see all these mistakes.
14:26You see Jeff make another mistake, and it is so incredibly soft.
14:29Ricky talked about the base that they added in here.
14:32Well, that's all well and good.
14:33You have that extra moisture-holding ability, but when you get a ton of rain, I'm talking biblical rain on Thursday night,
14:40now you've created a situation where it's like a sponge, and we're still in this drying process.
14:45So, they've done a great job.
14:46The SMAX track crew has been working overtime to fix a racetrack, but it doesn't take much when it's this soft to break down.
14:52You see JT make another mistake, trying to avoid those inside ruts.
14:55So, it's going to be a challenge each and every lap.
14:57When I go back, when you see riders of this caliber making this many mistakes, that in and of itself tells you how difficult it is.
15:04Well, and I just watched a line that JT took over by the start area, and he went way over to the left where there was no ruts off of that little wall jump.
15:13And then, just before the finish line, he's going to the outside, staying away from the ruts.
15:19That's kind of what JT is talking about.
15:22And then, just behind that battle, you have RJ Hampshire here on the Rockstar Husqvarna.
15:26He has caught Roxen at Hampshire, jumping to the 450 division this year for the first time.
15:32The veteran is nearly 30 years old out of Florida, finally got an opportunity in the 450 class, made the most of it.
15:39A podium finish in pro motocross, and just keeps getting better and better, Will.
15:43Incredible summer, and I feel like we've kind of understated it a bit.
15:48We keep saying how awesome he's done, but it's almost like we expect him to be there, and I asked him that question today, Jason.
15:54And he said, actually, you know what, the only person who I've really been kind of intimidated about the entire summer, he's like,
16:01is when I look across and I see Eli Tomac, the four-time outdoor champion, the motocross champion there,
16:06he's like, he's the only guy.
16:07Aside from that, yes, I feel at home.
16:09And I understand that maybe I'm surprising everybody else, but I'm really not surprising myself.
16:14We've got to remember, this is a strong performance, too, considering he's new to this 450 machine,
16:18so he doesn't have any data to look back on last year.
16:20He's having to do this all new for these SMX playoff rounds.
16:25And really the first time he's ever battled Ken Roxen, who's been in this class for nearly a dozen years now, RC.
16:30Well, I was seeing and watching you guys on the broadcast all summer long, the pro motocross championship.
16:35This guy, for sure, I felt, you know, outside of winning the championship, he was the next best guy.
16:41Super impressive.
16:42And that's coming from, like, I thought it was in question that he was even going to race the outdoor motocross season because of his wrist.
16:49Yeah.
16:49He comes out there so close to the podium each and every week, got a podium as well.
16:54And that's tough to do.
16:57And he hadn't been riding the 450 that much either.
16:59So this guy needs some serious credit.
17:03Yeah, the 24 there at Hampshire, they had to adjust the bike each week as the wrist got stronger.
17:08So he was learning a new bike.
17:09And then every week, his armor get a little stronger.
17:12They could stiffen it up.
17:13He could go a little faster.
17:14They'd have to reset again.
17:15So it's been on the fly learning.
17:16And he's going strong right now.
17:18I'm pumped for him.
17:18Oh, no.
17:19Tomac from second has gone down.
17:22Yeah, and it looks like he's coming back on the start straight.
17:25So I'm probably assuming that he came out in the corner and probably gave a handful and slid out or something like that.
17:31But now Hunter Lawrence right behind him.
17:34So that's third.
17:35Sexton has slipped up to second with the crash from Tomac.
17:39See, we have it.
17:40All right.
17:40See, he jumps the finish line.
17:42Jet still in front of him.
17:44Going to come across this little roller jump and see what happens.
17:47See on the scoop tire.
17:48It gets in there.
17:49Just leans in there.
17:50Oh.
17:50Yep.
17:51Starts losing the front end right there.
17:52Yep.
17:52On there.
17:53Right over the rut.
17:55Yep.
17:56You think because when he came over, that little kicker they have in the corner, like that little spine, that maybe the suspension unloaded?
18:03Yeah, and I think having the supercross suspension, that would be an area where it would hurt you at.
18:08Because these guys are having that rut, supercross suspension, because of that rhythm section, it doesn't soak those bumps up.
18:14So it would be easy to lean that bike over and lose the front end like we just saw, Eli.
18:18Yeah, so James, are you talking about because of the jumps, the supercross-type jumps, they don't have the bike set up for a lot of the other sections of the track?
18:25Yeah, I mean, a lot of this track is really rough.
18:28So they've got to have that supercross suspension to hold up, as you mentioned.
18:31And once they lean the bike over, it's literally like having the slippery up, having the bike just standing up as we're watching the winds blowing.
18:38Hey, JT, what's the situation with the weather?
18:40Well, we are deteriorating quickly down here.
18:42You can see the dust on your screen flying around.
18:45I mean, we're talking, I would say, 40-mile-an-hour gusts at the moment.
18:49You see track barriers flying everywhere.
18:51And for the riders, the most tricky part of this is on the bigger jumps, the doubles, the triples, the finish line,
18:56if that wind is coming sideways, it's going to blow them sideways.
19:00Their rear tire and the front tire are actually going to go horizontal on them.
19:04So it's just really tricky to see Eli kind of holding the bike steady with his core and with his legs there.
19:09So hopefully we don't get rain, but I can tell you the wind is really whipping down here at the moment.
19:14Yeah, I watched it just when you were starting to do your report, JT, before Eli started coming back your way.
19:19It almost blew him off the track on that double before the left-hander.
19:23As Jett Lawrence, doing what he does, managed that gap, and now suddenly it's up to five seconds,
19:30but he was hovering around the one-and-a-half to two-second range for most of this race.
19:35This guy is something else, James.
19:37I mean, just silky smooth, precise.
19:41And I feel like what Jett does really well, and I feel like this is one of those tracks you need to do that.
19:46The guy that's going to do the best is the one that can take an ill-handling motorcycle
19:51or if the conditions aren't just right is going to do the best here today.
19:56And I believe that Jett is one of the best at that.
19:58Yeah, no, I absolutely agree.
20:00And because he started out front, as I was saying, those guys would be close to him,
20:03but they had to push it as we were watching these two push it,
20:06battle for fourth and fifth right here, or fifth and sixth, excuse me.
20:10They were going to have to take a risk, and Eli was the first one to go down.
20:14Let's see what RJ does.
20:15He's going to switch up the inside line.
20:18Man, it's so hard to get over that double when they roll.
20:20I feel like Kenny might have burned some matches there early on in the first race.
20:25He's smoking.
20:25You know, yeah, I think so.
20:28And I'm going to tell you, when these conditions –
20:29Oh, RJ nearly made the move.
20:32Yeah, that's because everybody likes Ken.
20:34If that was somebody else, they might have got a little dealt with on there.
20:37Oh, can he make the outside work?
20:39He does.
20:40And because he didn't hit him, Ken didn't have to return the favor right here.
20:43So I like that outside in that particular corner right there.
20:48That inside is getting super, super deep, not able to carry enough momentum through there.
20:54I've seen a lot of passes happen there.
20:56Yeah, I think at this point, you've almost got to start riding this track as a mud race.
21:00You've got to keep that momentum up.
21:01So those outsides that you mentioned, it might be a longer way around,
21:05but that stop and go is going to help you keep your momentum through the ruts
21:08and help you get around this racetrack.
21:10Like less resistance almost on the motorcycle, it seems like, rolling better.
21:14So this was the question, how would Hampshire perform?
21:18He was great in pro motocross.
21:19Let's move to a different type of track here.
21:21Could he keep up the solid results?
21:23The answer is yes.
21:24He's fifth behind Hunter Lawrence, who was close to Tomac.
21:27And then Hunter must have made a mistake.
21:29Tomac is now clear in third, sext in second.
21:32And as the clock ticks away, the number one of Jet Lawrence starting off what could be a third
21:37super motocross world championship just the way he likes.
21:40Yeah, well, these guys are all on the same straightaway.
21:44If you look at it, you've got Chase only a couple seconds behind him.
21:47Then Eli's right behind him.
21:48Those guys, you've got to think maybe physically, they're probably starting to feel it
21:53because this is a gnarly racetrack right here, especially coming off the outdoor.
21:57This is completely different for these guys.
21:59Yeah, and again, too, with the track being real ruddy like this,
22:02it takes a lot more strength to maneuver these motorcycles because of that,
22:06because the bike not being able to move around easier.
22:10You talk about the roll resistance a little bit ago, and this is an example of that.
22:15So, James, I completely agree with you on that.
22:18They're probably starting to get a bit gassed here, and it's been hot today out here.
22:22I also want to ask RC.
22:24Again, they have the very stiff supercross suspension for the bumps.
22:27How often do they ever ride conditions like this with this type of bike setup?
22:31Not very often.
22:33It goes back to, like, you can practice all you want to,
22:36but nothing simulates being in a real race condition,
22:40and this is the complete example of that.
22:44It's been tough on everybody.
22:45Yeah, you'd never practice in conditions.
22:47Well, I shouldn't say you'd never, but I don't believe that I've ever practiced in conditions like this.
22:52No, but at the same time, having the supercross suspension might actually help these guys
22:56and really when they come off some of these softer landings like here when the bike, because it's so soft,
23:01I think you would want a bike that holds up a little bit more with all these ruts.
23:05So it might be tough in a lot of positions, but it actually might help these guys in a safety position because of that.
23:11Well, and to allude to what you're saying and expand on is, like,
23:15the supercross suspension is better for the heavier conditions,
23:18but at the same time when you have a riding style, because we're watching Jet right now,
23:22who's very light on the bike, where you don't compress the bike on these soft, ruddy jump faces,
23:29that actually helps, too, and creates less resistance.
23:32And he's got it now.
23:33At one point, Sxton had taken a four-second gap back to 2.4.
23:37Now it's 3.6, halfway through the last lap, but it is a two-moto format,
23:42so stay with us because the race winner won't be crowned at the end of the day.
23:46Yeah, you talk about it looks like Jet's career,
23:49but there's been probably three or four times a lap where I bet if you ask him, he almost went down.
24:08Our apologies.
24:09Actually, that wind that came through missed about the last half lap of that race
24:14because it affected our satellite here.
24:16Broadcast is back, and Jet Lawrence did hold on to win that one.
24:21Here are the results.
24:22Sexton second over Tomac.
24:24Hunter Lawrence and RJ Hampshire showing, yes, whether it's motocross or super motocross,
24:30he can run with the best of the 450 field.
24:32Roxen sixth over Webb.
24:35Ferrandez, Savace, Barsha, and Justin Cooper, the number one seed, down early from last.
24:40Hey, Bloss, welcome back.
24:49He is back.
24:52Let's talk to Jet Lawrence, who took the win.
24:57And took the win, Jason, in a very convincing fashion.
25:01Congratulations, Jet.
25:02You were out there looking silky smooth, as they called you, in the boot,
25:05but is there any such thing as comfort out there?
25:07Were you as comfortable as it seemed?
25:09It's kind of like just getting to the point where it's just like close enough to the limit
25:13because right now you can't really push the track at all.
25:16It can catch you really quickly.
25:19It can catch you hard, those ruts especially.
25:22So it's kind of smart and good.
25:35Well, Chase, we haven't seen you in a few weeks, but you really looked like you haven't missed the beat.
25:43You've had pace in qualifying.
25:45Maybe not the start you wanted, but you really seemed to lock in, and we're right with Jet Lawrence there.
25:50You know, what's funny is I thought I had the whole shot, and I just blew the first turn.
25:53Jack got underneath me, and, yeah, I was like probably fourth or fifth behind Ken,
25:58and just had to work my way up.
25:59Eli went down, which gave me a gift, but I felt pretty good, actually.
26:03I felt like I was dealing with the track.
26:05I'm not going to lie, probably one of the sketchiest tracks I've ever ridden,
26:08just with the kickers and all these weird things, and the dirt is so soft.
26:12So I was trying to not be conservative, but trying to be safe as well, and Jet rode awesome.
26:17I reeled him in a little bit, but he's pretty smart, and we were kind of just gauging each other.
26:21So good moto, and try and get another good start, try and hold it this time, and, yeah, see what we can do.
26:28Great job, and welcome back.
26:29Let's send it back to Will Christian.
26:30Thank you, JT.
26:31That's right, rounding out the podium.
26:33Eli, congratulations.
26:34It was a fantastic ride for you.
26:36You looked good out there, but obviously frustration for tucking the front there.
26:39So just talk us through what kind of held you back.
26:41Just that.
26:42Just that.
26:43I'm not sure if it was like acceleration or if it was the front end that tuck there.
26:47Either way, it was maybe a little impatient.
26:50Like I moved out after that.
26:51I'm like I should have been using the cushion.
26:53Try to live and learn overall.
26:56Felt really good.
26:57So excited for the second round.
26:58Of course, we're getting rain right now.
26:59It could be a whole other story.
27:01But either way, track's super gnarly.
27:03Like you got to.
27:04The back motocross section is something like I've never seen.
27:07It's fun.
27:08It's technical.
27:08But at the same time, it is gnarly.
27:10So we'll see how it goes.
27:12Well, good to see what you do at these playoff tracks so well.
27:14Congratulations, Eli.
27:15Thank you, Will and JT.
27:18And the weather has moved in.
27:19Now rain.
27:20That's what Eli Tomek is mentioning.
27:22A difficult track might only get tougher.
