00:00A lookout notice has been issued against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra in a Rs. 60 crore fraud case.
00:05Here's what the case is about.
00:07In 2015, Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra and Akshay Kumar came together to launch a business venture called Best Deal TV.
00:14It was designed to sell lifestyle, health, fashion and beauty products targeting middle class to upper class households.
00:20Years later, on August 14, 2025, a case was registered against the Kundras by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari.
00:25According to Kothari, the couple initially sought a loan of Rs. 75 crore at 12% interest but later persuaded him to root the funds as an investment in the business to reduce taxation with promises of monthly returns and principal repayment.
00:38Kothari claimed he transferred Rs. 31.95 crore in April 2015 under a share subscription agreement and an additional Rs. 28.53 crore in September 2015 through a supplementary agreement.
00:48Kothari alleged that repeated attempts to recover the funds failed, prompting a formal complaint.
00:52By 2016, Shilpa Shetty had reportedly resigned as director of the firm.
00:56By 2017, insolvency proceedings were initiated against Best Deal TV for defaulting on another agreement.
01:02The case deepens the couple's legal woes.
01:04Earlier this year, Prithvi Raj Kothari, managing director of Riddhi Siddhi Bullions, accused Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra of defrauding an investor in a gold scheme.
01:12On September 5, the Economic Offences Wing issued a lookout notice, citing the couple's frequent international travel in the Shetty Kothari case.
