00:00Seriously, because the cutting of the ribbon, it sounds easy, it's not easy, lots of mistakes could be happening.
00:07But we had somebody flying our flag for early years, back at our conference, and I'll completely admit we can't let go of her.
00:15So we dragged her back. She lives. Come on up with me.
00:19I am so honoured to be here. It's my passion and belief that by having a nursery similar to yours, I have started one in the North East just recently, but our building isn't finished.
00:41So we're actually in a bell tent, so your children and your staff need to think this house looking.
00:53But well done, I think that nowadays in education we need them, we need children in Younger and Younger, whether they're dealing, families are dealing with all sorts of things we can't even imagine.
01:06Children are seeing things online that, you know, we don't even know. We've thrown them into that unsafe world as soon as we can get them in.
01:15And nursery and early years is the best way to foster that love of learning.
01:20So congratulations!
01:22Let's have a round of three, six, one!
01:26We're here in Wolverhampton at St Thomas C of E Academy and a brand new nursery. Introduce yourself, madam.
01:48My name is Emma Beard and I am the early years lead here at St Thomas's.
01:52It's literally brand new, isn't it? The building we're in wasn't here a little while ago.
01:56It wasn't, no. It's been a very long time coming for the school.
02:00Yeah, so how long has the school had a nursery before?
02:02It's never had a nursery. So St Thomas has been here about 60, 70 years and has never had a nursery.
02:08So that's massive, isn't it? For the community.
02:10Huge for our community. The church, all our families, they're very excited.
02:16And when are you, like day one, open with children on board?
02:20We opened on Tuesday. Our children have already been in and they're all very settled already, having a great time.
02:27And how many children can you accommodate here?
02:29We can accommodate 26 in the morning and 26 in the afternoon.
02:33That's great, isn't it? So what's been the reaction from parents that have been able to use the service?
02:37We had some children start last year with us and we opened up a unit, so we had nursery and reception together.
02:43And those parents have been so thankful and so grateful for us, opening the nursery.
02:50They've looked at it and the children are so settled.
02:53So today's just a little bit of a celebration day, isn't it?
02:57Cut the ribbon, officially mark it.
02:58Cut the ribbon, officially open it and get everybody excited with us.
03:03Cool. Well done to all involved and we wish you all the best going forward.
03:08And I'll put my hands on this one.
03:12Are you ready?
03:14Steady, you've got to do a big cheer when it goes.
03:16Ready.
03:17Ready, steady.
03:18Oh, it's a very good one.
03:19Let's go.
