00:09And I wish to add my voice to the many voices raised in support of Galatina becoming the cultural city of 2028.
00:17There are very, very many reasons why this would be the right thing to do.
00:23Not least because it would be the first time in the history of cultural cities that a city in Puglia has received this recognition and I think it's about time.
00:33The region of Puglia wears its history very boldly and you can see it everywhere you walk and especially in a city like Galatina that really represents the best of everything that southern Italy has to offer.
00:48And my goodness, it's got so much to offer from the beauty of the Baroque architecture to the art to be found in many, many chapels and churches.
01:03I would like to mention, for example, the frescoes in the Basilica of Santa Caterina of Alessandria in Galatina.
01:17It's the birthplace of the Basticciotto Leccese.
01:20Of course, many culinary delights to be found in this region and very original, not to be found in any other parts of Italy.
01:31Of course, Cilento has always been a bridge in a way between east and west.
01:37It's a very, very important part of the history of the Mediterranean basin.
01:43Galatina represents all of those qualities.
01:47I would be so proud if, and we would all be, any Polonese person, we would be so proud to have Galatina become the cultural city of 2028.
