A Roof Nailer is a specialized pneumatic tool designed for fastening shingles, underlayment, and roofing materials quickly and securely. Powered by compressed air, it drives nails consistently at the correct depth—perfect for residential and commercial roofing projects where speed and reliability are essential.
In this video, we’ll show you how to set up and operate a roof nailer, load nails properly, adjust depth settings, and tips for achieving straight, uniform shingle installation.
💡 Pro Tip
Keep the nailer flat against the shingle surface for accurate fastening. Use the right length nails recommended for your roofing material. Work in consistent rows to keep shingle alignment straight and professional.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Wear a safety harness, non-slip shoes, gloves, and eye protection when working on a roof. Always disconnect the air hose before reloading or clearing jams. Be mindful of hose placement to prevent tripping or tangling while on the roof.

00:00welcome back and here's something that you may want to use instead of a hammer and nails to
00:18do a roofing job if you're doing it your yourself or you're getting your buddies to over there and
00:23give you a hand this is an air roofing nailer you will need a compressor for this and hose
00:28usually about a hundred feet of hose and this will take your nails and by pulling the trigger just
00:35drive them in like any air nailer would for any job now this is a coil nailer so you're not using
00:40strips or anything you're using coil nails probably inch and a quarter inch and a half depending on
00:46whether you got two layers or one layer of shingles that you're putting onto your under your house
00:51easy to load is just pull the trigger down here pin open it up release the bottom tray and you'll
01:03you'll drop your coil in and make sure that your coils aren't bent twisted misformed because that's
01:12when you're going to have a hard time getting them to feed in if they get twisted or anything also one
01:17of the most important things is all nailers aren't created equal so make sure you got the right nails
01:23the wires that hold the nails together come in different dimensions up and down the nail and how
01:30they're spaced this nailer is very takes the most variety of them but they have to fit into the grooves
01:37for the feeder to advance the nails and if the wire is in the way and they don't advance right then it's
01:43going to be a frustrating day of jam nails so make sure you feed your nails in and you feed them right
01:51across the the toggles that advance the nails your nails sit flat there's no obstruction there for the
01:57wire to feed you flip that back over put your your carriage base down and make sure that your your base
02:06here is in the right spot for the different lengths of nails this is I can go down this can also be set
02:13up higher and that's because of the different lengths of nails so some people don't take the time to do
02:19that your nails start going in at an angle and you end up with jam nails so make sure you put that in
02:25the right position so that the nails sit straight going through into the into the advance into the carriage
02:35okay so if you've got that right you don't have twisted nails the wire is in the proper position for
02:42this type of our model of nailer you won't have any trouble nailing and the best way to nail is hold
02:48the trigger and then just pound down and put your nails in okay and that'll save you a lot of heartache
02:58trying to do it with a hammer for sure but and it's definitely much much quicker so have your compressors
03:06air pressure at the right pressure and don't forget to bleed off your compressor if you're doing it on
03:12real hot days because you're gonna have your tanks fill up with water open the valves in the bottom and
03:17and drain them out each day so that you don't have water blowing through your gun and because you'll
03:22always want to add a drop or two of oil every day to your nailer as any air nailer to to keep it
03:29working properly and especially in the winter time when it's freezing keep your keep your nailers inside
03:36overnight rather than just leave them in the truck and because the byproduct of compressed air is water
03:40vapor and you come out the next day and your nailers won't work because they're frozen okay so there's
03:46another tool that'll make it a little easier for you when you want to try a roofing job and give it a
03:52give it a try and we'll see you again don't forget to subscribe
