00:00vaccines, putting them and their babies at risk. And now he's coming after the entire childhood

00:07vaccination schedule. Based on his actions so far and his tight ties and financial interests

00:16in the anti-vaccine industry, it will not be long. I do not believe it will be long

00:22before we see more outbreaks of measles and pertussis, meningitis, and maybe even

00:29polio. Yes, polio could come to the United States of America. And let me just add that Florida's

00:37cancellation of school vaccine requirements is only going to add fuel to this fire. These and

00:45other vaccine preventable illnesses will once again get a significant foothold in this country,

00:50and every one of us should be scared. I am so proud to join my Democratic doctors and my colleagues

00:57in standing up for our constituents, standing up for public health and calling seriously,

01:04forcefully for RFK Jr. to resign immediately before more children get sick or, God forbid,

01:11die from diseases that could easily have been prevented. And with that, I'd like to turn this

01:17over to my colleague, Dr. Kelly Morrison from Minnesota. Thank you.

01:22Thank you, Dr. Schreier. Good morning. I'm Kelly Morrison, Congresswoman for Minnesota's third

01:31district and the first and only pro-choice OBGYN to ever serve in Congress.

01:36I joined my colleagues this morning in calling for RFK Jr.'s immediate resignation. I stand here again

01:45with the members of the Democratic Doctors Caucus six months after we voiced our warning about an

01:50opposition to his nomination to lead HHS. Our worst fears are now being realized. There needs to be a

01:57point at which we all stop and say, this is unequivocally disqualifying. We cannot be complicit

02:03in letting political ideologues take over our scientific and public health institutions.

02:09We just had the firing of one of the nation's top scientists because she refused to put a political

02:16agenda over protecting public health. We've had an exodus of senior agency officials who said they

02:22could no longer work in RFK Jr.'s environment of weaponizing public health for political gain and

02:28putting millions of American lives at risk. We have had a complete political takeover of

02:33our nation's top health agency. This is the truth of where we are. What we've been hearing from the

02:39federal health officials whistleblowing about RFK Jr.'s leadership at HHS is horrifying. We have to

02:45listen to what they're telling us. RFK Jr. is literally orchestrating the destruction of public health care in

02:51the United States. He is completely undermining globally respected health institutions like CDC. He is

02:57taking us from being a leader in the world to at best an absolute mockery and at worst a danger. Vaccines are

03:05modern miracles that keep us from dying of preventable diseases. After decades upon decades of dedicated work

03:13to create these lifesaving miracles, he is dragging us backwards. I'm disturbed by this administration's

03:19indifference to the damage he is causing. And I am beyond disappointed in congressional Republicans who

03:25confirmed him and continue to enable his destruction of public health in the United States. If nothing

03:32changes, I worry the CDC won't survive this and irreparable harm will have been done to public health

03:37in our country. So we must be clear eyed about the danger we are in and we all need to speak out. This

03:44is not a partisan issue. This is about the health of the American people. I call on all members of Congress to

03:50be patriots and stand up for the health and safety and well being of the American people. Thank you very

03:57much. And I turn it over to my colleague from New Jersey, Dr. Herb Conway. That was representative

04:03Kelly Morrison from Minnesota right there speaking as there is a coalition of Democratic lawmakers

04:11protesting ahead of RFK Jr.'s testimony. This is a live look inside the hearing chambers. As you can

04:19see the media lining up to get the first photos of Secretary Kennedy walking up before his testimony

04:27later on today, all of this set to get underway in just about 15 minutes time. We are going to step

04:33away for a brief break. But after that, we're going to be speaking with health care attorney and policy

04:38expert Harry Nelson, who author also authored the book from Obamacare to Trump care why you should care.
