DBT Secretary Gokhale, in an exclusive conversation with ETV Bharat, said that the BioE3 will scale up lab innovations with 100 biomanufacturing hubs by year-end.
00:00Welcome to ETV, Bharat. Can you elaborate about this high-performance biotechnology platforms we have launched today?
00:10See, the challenge in biology has been how to scale up the activities.
00:16Because research labs have provided innovations but they have not been able to scale up.
00:21And these bio manufacturing hubs and bio foundry hubs, what we call bio enablers actually,
00:26we are going to provide this opportunity for all the academia scientists and that way the industry people will get together.
00:32The academia industry will meet together and then develop products for the future of the country and for the world.
00:38And these are set of 22 bio manufacturing hubs that what we are setting it up now.
00:43Where do you see India in like bio manufacturing as US, China and other countries are already heavily investing in India?
00:50I think we are also heavily investing and our country has resources and our country has technologies, have wonderful people and ideas and we can compete.
00:58I can almost guarantee we will be there shoulder to shoulder to the best of the world and in fact we will be able to manage the best possible technologies developed within our country, of course for the world.
01:10So we have six boundaries like in Mohalli, Faridabad, Delhi and all. So are we expecting to, you know, put more industries in other like small countries, small cities, rural areas?
01:23Of course, I mean, this is just the beginning, right? And you know, the bio E3 policy is only one year old and the funding and money is just starting to flow up.
01:31But the partnerships is amazing that we create this enormous synergy. And so we're going to do this across the country right now.
01:38We want to have about right now, this is 22, but we will have 100 by the end of this year. And that will be totally transformative for the country.
