00:00UFC 319 went down on Saturday. Some major performances, some devastating losses,
00:05and we're going to get into all of them in today's UFC Stock Report.
00:10All right, whose stock went up? Whose stock went down after an eventful UFC card that happened
00:32on Saturday night out in Las Vegas, Nevada? No, that didn't happen in Chicago. Sorry. Let's talk
00:39about it. UFC Stock Watch. Who went up? Who went down? We'll start positive. We'll start on the
00:46high notes. I don't think, look, if you're watching in the stream earlier or listening to a podcast
00:51yesterday, no one's stock went up more than Hamzat Chemayev, who went from outside of my pound-for-pound
00:58top 10 to number three. It is one of the most dominant performances anyone has ever put together
01:03in a championship fight, regardless of if they were the challenger or the champion. It was just
01:09absolute control from Hamzat Chemayev, and it was really kind of a culmination of everything we
01:17thought he could be into one absolutely dominant performance. And so all the hype we had around him,
01:23all of the talk about how dominant and how good he could be and how controlling he could be as a
01:28wrestler and a grappler at middleweight or at welterweight, all of it came true. And so now you
01:33are looking at, I think, a juggernaut and a real problem at whatever weight class he wants to be in
01:39for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Whatever weight class he can make, anyway, as a champion.
01:44Up next, we're not going too far down, it's Lerone Murphy. Someone who so many people were talking about
01:51as talented fighter, really good striker, very skilled, entertaining fighter, just hasn't had that big
01:57moment yet. He comes in and has the big moment. And all of a sudden, he goes from up-and-comer guy
02:04that a few people like to probable title challenger next. That is a huge jump for Lerone Murphy. So his
02:11stock way up in the UFC right now, especially after UFC 319. And the last one, the guy who made spinning
02:19back elbow knockouts cool, 15 minutes before Lerone Murphy did, it was Carlos Paredes. It wasn't just
02:26the spinning elbow knockout. It was all the strikes leading into it. It was a showcase of a creative,
02:34devastating, skilled striker on display against a very, very good, very strong, very technical fighter
02:41in Jeff Neal. To be able to put all of that together and showcase the abilities that this guy had,
02:47I think is a major plus for him. And that stock is going way up for Carlos Paredes. So that is
02:54the first part here of the stock watch. Not all positive though, as a few of these stocks are
03:00trending in the down direction coming out of UFC 319. We will get to them in a second. But first,
03:06if you could share this video with your friends, let them know that this is a pretty solid spot to get
03:10some good combat sports talk in. That would be greatly appreciated. Love chatting with everyone.
03:15We had the chat going. It's still going now for people live. But love getting the stuff from the
03:20chat. Love everyone who is tuned in live and anyone who is watching. I so greatly appreciate it. I just
03:25wish you had some friends to talk about it with while we're doing these. So hit up a few friends.
03:30Let them know about how much fun we're having chatting UFC here on Couch Potato Diary. So with some
03:37up, there must be some down. And obviously no one's stock, I think, dropped further on Saturday than
03:42Drickus Duplessis. All the stuff about how crazy and weird and everything it can be, that's great
03:47when it's going well. But then when it's not, it becomes a problem. Because now you're just being
03:53weird for being weird. He tried to defend with chaos rather than technique. It didn't work. It
03:59was a big problem for him. And that's the type of ass kicking that you get that people wonder if that
04:06will change you as a fighter coming out of it. So the next 12-18 months in Drickus Duplessis'
04:12career can be very fascinating because of the whooping that Hamzat Shemaya put on him on Saturday
04:18night. Also, going in the down direction is Jeff Neal. We talked about the spitting back elbow from
04:23Carlos Paredes. That's a tough one for Neal. He's coming off of a couple losses anyway. The stock was
04:28already one that people were selling on. And I think this just made the final sell-off complete.
04:34as he gets knocked out in spectacular fashion. And you just kind of wonder how much higher can
04:43this guy go? What is left in the tank for him after something like this? So this was a bit of a
04:48ooh, ooh, that's not great showing for Jeff Neal. And the last one is Kai Asakura. Someone who I think
04:54a lot of. He showed some very good technique and talent with his hands. It's just the grappling was
05:01such a problem that it seemed to like alter his brain chemistry where he went from being just a
05:06solid, aggressive fighter to, oh man, this guy can also take me down. Shit, I don't really know what
05:12to do with that. And it became a problem very quickly for Kai Asakura. So I am hopeful that this
05:19gets figured out. But that was a problem on Saturday. That was a big, big problem, that performance.
05:25And so when you come off of a title loss in your debut and then follow it up with that type of a
05:31showing, all of a sudden now you go from, oh, number one, number two to, yeah, you know,
05:36seven, eight in the division. Like that is, that is a steep, steep decline, I think, from a Kai Asakura
05:42after that performance on Saturday. So just not great all around for a few fighters, but a very big
05:50night and very impactful night it felt like for the UFC.
