00:00China kicked off its largest-ever military parade on Wednesday,

00:05marking 80 years since Japan's defeat at the end of World War II.

00:09Over 25 foreign heads of state or government were in attendance,

00:12including Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim

00:16and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

00:19Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un

00:22were the guests of honor.

00:24In his keynote address to the crowd of more than 50,000 spectators at Tiananmen Square,

00:28Chinese President Xi Jinping called the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation unstoppable.

00:34He also warned the world was facing a choice between peace or war.

00:58The parade featured marching platoons of People's Liberation Army troops,

01:12as well as cutting-edge military equipment, such as hypersonic missiles,

01:16unmanned drones and outfitted tanks.

01:18The highly choreographed Victory Day spectacle comes as US President Donald Trump's America First stance

01:24and trade wars have strained Washington's long-standing alliances.
