00:00Lucy, a matchmaker who helps people of all ages and backgrounds find love, notices a man staring
00:05at her as she leaves her office. She hands him her business card in case he needs her services.
00:10Later, a male client calls Lucy, upset about a terrible date and frustrated with her matchmaking.
00:20Lucy then meets Sophie, a client thrilled about a guy she thought was her perfect match.
00:24When Lucy reveals he rejected her, Sophie's disappointed. Lucy suggests a doctor who
00:29earns $140,000 a year, but Sophie complains about his height, saying she just wants someone who
00:34meets her basic standards. Lucy promises to find her a great match, though she's unsure it's possible.
00:40At a party with friends, Lucy celebrates her successes, including a client who got engaged
00:44after 20 months and nine couples she helped marry. Her friend Charlotte says Sophie's too plain to
00:49attract anyone and suggests her new match could get height surgery to be more appealing. When
00:53Charlotte asks if Lucy has a date for an upcoming wedding, Lucy jokes she'll either stay single
00:57forever or marry a rich guy. At the wedding, Lucy gives a touching speech about her matchmaking
01:02skills, impressing guests.
01:16When the bride panics, Lucy calms her fears, helping her feel ready to marry.
01:20Afterward, while Lucy's alone on her phone, Harry, a wealthy man and the groom's brother,
01:42approaches her. He admires her business and says his mom's pressuring him to marry. Lucy offers to
01:47find him a match, but Harry seems interested in her. They're interrupted by John, a waiter Lucy
01:52seems to like. Later, Lucy goes out to meet John, and they talk about her line of work and how things
02:05could have worked out for them, even though they came from a poor background. After learning she's
02:10still single, John leans forward to kiss Lucy but hesitates for a moment and offers to drive her home
02:15after the occasion. Back at the wedding, Lucy offers Harry her business card, urging him to book an
02:20appointment with her so she can find him a perfect match. Harry only agrees to call her if she agrees
02:25to dance with him. She reluctantly agrees. During the dance, Harry invites Lucy to one of his penthouses
02:31to spend the night, but Lucy politely tells him, maybe next time. He offers to drive her to a nice place,
02:37and she says she has a ride. John walks in to see them dancing together, a sad look on his face.
02:42After the dance, Lucy is seen inside John's car as they reminisce about their past life together.
02:49Lucy learns that John still lives in his old apartment. A flashback shows their life when
02:53they were still together. During that time, the couple always argued about money and how hard life
02:58was for both of them. Leading them to conclude that love isn't enough for a relationship to thrive.
03:02The following days are filled with Lucy trying to fulfill her client's unrealistic ideas of a
03:29perfect partner. After work, she goes on a date with Harry. So far within the week, Harry has taken
03:34Lucy to different high-end restaurants for their dates. At one point, she confesses that she likes
03:39how he handles the bills without worrying about the cost. Further into the conversation, Lucy reveals
03:44that in the dating market, Harry is considered a unicorn because he has all the qualities the dating
03:48market looks for, and she wonders what he wants with her, someone in her 30s, instead of looking for
03:52someone younger. Harry lists the qualities he's looking for in a woman, which he's found in her,
03:57and that's why he wants them to be together. Lucy is thrilled by this confession and ends up going
04:08with him to his penthouse, where they sleep together. Meanwhile, her phone keeps ringing,
04:13it's John calling to tell her to come to his play, which she promised to attend. The next day,
04:18John wakes up in a shady apartment he shares with roommates. Simultaneously, Lucy wakes up with a kiss
04:23from Harry before going to work. Next, she calls Sophie to get feedback about her date with her
04:27match, but when Sophie doesn't pick up, Lucy calls the guy. He seems thrilled about the date with
04:32Sophie, confessing they were a perfect match and he'd want to go on another date with her.
04:36The next day at work, Lucy is called to her manager's office. The manager reveals that Sophie
04:41was assaulted on her date by her supposed match and is bringing charges against the company.
04:45The legal team is handling it. Lucy wants to speak with Sophie to understand what happened,
04:49but Violet tells her not to contact her, as the company will handle all conversations from here.
04:54Violet reassures Lucy not to worry too much, since she worked with the information she had,
04:58and things didn't work out for these particular individuals. She reminds her that a matchmaker
05:02cannot vouch for how someone behaves in an intimate setting, and things like this have happened before.
05:07Worried, Lucy takes her journal to the bathroom to review the man's profile,
05:11which seems perfect, and throws it away. Later, she goes with Harry to one of John's plays,
05:16after which he invites them to grab a drink. At the bar, Lucy tells John she enjoyed his acting,
05:21even though she didn't understand the play, calling him a good actor since she tried acting
05:24but didn't have what it takes. John asks if she's going to marry Harry because he's handsome,
05:28rich, and has all the qualities a man could have. Understanding where the conversation is leading,
05:33she doesn't want to talk about it, and they end up leaving each other on a bad note,
05:36after which Harry comes to pay for their drinks. The following day, Lucy gets to work to speak with
05:40her manager about not meeting Sophie's expectations. She thinks their industry is a scam,
05:45promising individuals they'll find love but giving them bad dates with morons who have criminal
05:49records. Understanding that Lucy must be experiencing burnout due to Sophie's incident,
05:53the manager offers her a month of vacation to clear her head. Lucy says that if she takes a
05:57break now, she might never come back. The manager is sure she'll return, since she loves her clients.
06:03Lucy confesses she hates them because they're like children with their unrealistic expectations of
06:07what a partner must possess. The manager points out that they're like therapists to these
06:11individuals, and even more, because they listen to them every day and try their best to
06:14provide a good partner, which is risky since one might be a criminal and another might lead to
06:18an engagement. As they talk, some workers start celebrating because one of their matches is
06:22already engaged. Lucy, clearly sick of it all, walks away from the matchmaking company.
06:28Later that day, she goes through Sophie's social media profile and decides to stalk her to find out
06:32what went wrong. She waits where she expects Sophie to be, and when she sees her, Lucy goes after her,
06:38saying she only wants to talk. Sophie starts walking away. After catching up, Sophie tells her she's
06:43embarrassed, as she thought she could pay someone to find her a boyfriend. Lucy apologizes for the
06:48bad match, saying she didn't know what the man was capable of. Sophie replies that everything Lucy
06:53said about the man was wrong, his height, his annual income, and he's the type who gets drunk and
06:57follows her into a bathroom. She wonders why Lucy set her up with such a person. Lucy says he met their
07:03criteria, but Sophie feels pained, thinking Lucy only set her up with him because she didn't know what
07:07to do with her, since there was no match for her, and calls her a pimp before leaving.
07:12The following days are filled with Lucy trying to fulfill her client's unrealistic ideas of a
