Queen Camilla has paid tribute to the staff and volunteers of ShelterBox during a visit to mark the charity’s 25th anniversary. The Queen, who became its patron in 2021, recalled first seeing its work in Pakistan in 2006 and said its support for people made homeless by disaster is “needed more and more”. Report by Covellm. 00:00It's a real joy to be back, and especially to come back to Shelterbox, which I think was probably the first patronage I took over here.
00:09And I cannot believe it was 18 years ago, since seeing the two good-looking Cornishmen come up in Pakistan after the earthquake there.
00:22I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought, what on earth are they doing with a mule with a box on the top?
00:29And so I went back and found out a little bit more about this wonderful charity.
00:36After that, the rest is history, as they say.
00:38But I just wanted to congratulate everybody who's been part of it to say what a wonderful, wonderful job you're doing.
00:48Unfortunately, you're going to be needed more and more.
00:51So thank goodness you're there to supply all these much-needed equipment for all these poor people.
00:58So thank you all very much for your contribution. Thank you.
