đź“„ Description
A Piano Dolly is a heavy-duty moving tool designed to transport upright or grand pianos safely and efficiently. With sturdy wheels and adjustable supports, it allows one or two movers to relocate a piano without damaging floors or the instrument. Perfect for homes, studios, or performance venues.
In this video, we’ll show you how to set up and use a piano dolly, secure the piano properly, and maneuver it safely through doorways, hallways, and tight spaces.
đź’ˇ Pro Tip
Always lift the piano slightly before placing it on the dolly to avoid tipping. Use straps to secure the piano and protect delicate edges with padding. Move slowly and evenly, especially over thresholds or uneven floors.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Wear steel-toed shoes and gloves. Never attempt to move a piano alone—always have at least one helper. Keep pathways clear and avoid sudden movements to prevent tipping or damage. Check that wheels are locked when stationary.

00:00well folks welcome back and here's something that may be of value when you're moving everybody
00:17sooner or later has to move but you may not all have an upright piano to move but you may have
00:24some cabinets or other things to move which you never thought you could use a piano dolly for
00:30and that's what this is this has mostly been designed to use for upright pianos the old ones
00:37if you've got a musician in the family and you're getting one from another family member or or you've
00:42purchased one the big advantage to this particular item is it's like having two of these appliance
00:48carts on either end of your piano and it allows you to use your legs to lift it up from the ends
00:56going through doors and everything big big advantage because if you don't have one of these
01:01the only place you can really grab an upright piano is from the keyboard on one side and there's usually
01:06maybe a couple of handles on the other side and once you get to the door you're beat unless you put it
01:11onto a a four-wheel cart or something like that but then by the time you get to the end you need
01:16something else to lift it off the cart and so this provides both the wheels provide the rolling
01:23these handles this normally when you get a a piano dolly from your rental house it's going to be
01:29probably in this position so these handles come up these straps you take off now at larry's rental
01:40they do put here on the handle how to put the straps on and how to lock them on what i would very much
01:46suggest is that when you get this to take it apart is that you release the handle you give it a little
01:54bit of slack and don't pull this all the way out because it's already put in put in for you the right
01:58way to lock the straps in take the other end out it's only on a clip pull your two halves apart put one
02:06in on one end of the piano one end the other end of the piano pull your strap to the length you need
02:12and hook this end on thereby you haven't had to release this at all you don't have to worry about
02:18how to get it back in again and uh and it's very easy just to snap that back on so you'll never have
02:24to take it out of the locking position here of how to put your strap back into the uh the way it's
02:30hooked around these two two pins so pull the two halves apart put them in the ends take your straps
02:40pull them tight and then you ratchet them once to get them tight just as you would a um an appliance
02:46stall make sure your straps are tight top and they're tight on the bottom the wheels it can
02:54simply be put down by pulling the lever you push them down with your hand and then you end up with
02:58this position where you've got the wheels down but this is the big advantage you can grab these two
03:04handles and lift with your legs rather than trying to lift these heavy heavy pianos with
03:09just your arms or maybe you've got three or four people there but as again when you start going
03:15through the doors and everybody can't grab on so much you have a person on either end just picking
03:19up with their legs um this makes a big advantage to uh doing these uh upright pianos and especially
03:27moving it in up a ramp or so or in where maybe you've got an a uh you don't have you can't get on either
03:32side because of the ramp going into the truck off the porch or maybe right off the ground
03:38and uh because they're all obviously all your trucks are you've got to step up maybe a couple
03:43feet even in some of the moving bands now the other thing these can also be used for is cabinets
03:50in offices they have these rollout horizontal drawers of filing cabinets you can stick these on either end
03:57uh lock it the same way and carry these out and makes it a lot easier than trying to get underneath
04:02them and maybe even put them on four-wheel dollies if uh if you've got a way to roll them out but it
04:08in any case anything that is uh of a box nature that you can put a cabinet put a uh a dolly on either
04:14side and straps along the side allows you a better means and certainly a safer means of uh of
04:21transporting for moving so remember this when you've got that upright piano you'll thank me later
04:28and um if there's any kind of other um cabinets or storage cabinets that you have that may come
04:34into play as well so hopefully this will do and make the job a little easier and don't forget to subscribe
