00:00:00All right, let's take a look at some of the final scores in the league tonight.
00:00:30The Blue Jackets were in a dogfight on the road against the Predators.
00:00:33Nashville tightened it up late in their own end and did enough to preserve the win.
00:00:39We got a jam-packed show.
00:00:40We've got a lot more stuff we've got to get to, so don't even think about going anywhere.
00:00:44Stay with us.
00:01:00Welcome back to EA Sports, everybody.
00:01:22My name is James Stavalski, and one of the hottest teams in hockey will look to keep their win streak intact on the ice tonight.
00:01:32Centers are lined up, official ready to drop the puck.
00:01:38The Senators take possession to get this one underway.
00:01:42Kills the puck.
00:01:44Takes it in front.
00:01:46Oh, what a save!
00:01:48He stopped it!
00:01:49Wow!
00:01:50That's an intangible effort that you can't teach James.
00:01:52That's all about desperation and the will to stop that puck.
00:01:54Handles the puck.
00:01:56Adel has got the puck.
00:02:00Takes the feed at center and moves up ahead.
00:02:03Boston's got the puck now.
00:02:06From the left side, they enter the offensive zone.
00:02:09Takes a shot!
00:02:10And that's deflected off someone in front.
00:02:14Carries the puck up through center.
00:02:19The Bruins gain possession along the wall.
00:02:22Through the open ice, they're picking up steam.
00:02:25Here's a shot!
00:02:26And that's blocked away.
00:02:28Here's a short pass to Kachuk.
00:02:30The Senators move it in.
00:02:35Shakes loose!
00:02:37Drives to the page!
00:02:39Oh, a clutch save!
00:02:41The goaltenders have the last line of defense for a reason.
00:02:44This time, he bails his team out.
00:02:46Gains the zone on the left wing.
00:02:49Shot!
00:02:51Comes up with a stop.
00:02:53Goaltender covers up and will get a face off.
00:02:58We're still in the early stages of this period.
00:03:01Still no score in this one.
00:03:10Past the midway mark in this period.
00:03:12Ottawa's up one zip.
00:03:17The Bruins win that offensive zone face off.
00:03:20Answers the call with a big save!
00:03:23The Senators move to the offensive zone.
00:03:27Shot!
00:03:28Oh, a save of the play!
00:03:30Woo-hoo!
00:03:31He's doing absolutely everything he can to keep his team in this game.
00:03:34James, unbelievable save!
00:03:36A player should never be left alone in the slot,
00:03:38but Mann is the goaltender to task here.
00:03:40Gets out in front of it and makes the save.
00:03:42And that's a great defensive heads up to force the turnover.
00:03:47Goes right to the crease!
00:03:50Dies him in close!
00:03:52Well, these are the saves when you know that your goaltender is dialed in, James.
00:03:56The ability to get to the top of the crease and be square to the shooter, that's a great save.
00:04:00Puts it on net!
00:04:02Stopped by the goaltender!
00:04:04We got a whistle as the puck's frozen.
00:04:06Sanderson's been feeling it, James.
00:04:08Do you know who else is feeling it?
00:04:10His teammates.
00:04:11They have been the beneficiaries of a great leader on the ice who's just been distributing the puck and generating a ton of offense.
00:04:18Here they come on the attack down the left side!
00:04:23Dishes it off!
00:04:25Stopped by the goaltender!
00:04:27LeBruns move it ahead!
00:04:30Moves it quickly over to Tuck!
00:04:32Oh, he got a piece of it to keep it out!
00:04:35Art has got it in their own zone!
00:04:39Cuts into the paint!
00:04:40And that shot gets caught in traffic!
00:04:43Lights him up into the boards!
00:04:45Here we go!
00:04:48Pucks in deep!
00:04:49Angles it over to Norris!
00:04:55Right in front!
00:04:56Incredible reflexes on the glove save by Grubauer!
00:05:00Well, he makes an incredible save on a point-blank shot here, James.
00:05:03I love the way he's aggressive, he's competitive, and he wins the battle.
00:05:06Can't connect as it goes off a stick!
00:05:09The Senators have it behind the cage!
00:05:11Moves the puck inside the offensive zone!
00:05:14Oh, what a save in front!
00:05:17What a fantastic save from a high-danger scoring area, James.
00:05:20I mean, he's bailing his team out.
00:05:22They have to do a better job of protecting the middle of the ice.
00:05:25Makes the save, but barely with that one!
00:05:28Great positioning by the goaltender to redirect it to the corner,
00:05:32getting it out of danger.
00:05:34Slides the puck over.
00:05:36There's the whistle as the goalie hangs on.
00:05:39The Senators wanted to put a lot of pucks on net going into this one,
00:05:48and they have delivered on that, leading late in the first.
00:05:51They win the faceoff here in their own end to take possession.
00:05:54Fires it on net!
00:05:59There's the horn for period number one as it comes to an end.
00:06:05We've got lots more action.
00:06:07Two more thirds of this one to go.
00:06:08Stay with us.
00:06:09Are you a super fan?
00:06:11Here's your chance to prove it.
00:06:13If you have the best decorated car or home,
00:06:16you can win ringside tickets to an upcoming game.
00:06:22Both teams with a chance to recharge and refresh
00:06:25in this second period about set to get underway.
00:06:30Second frame is underway as the puck is dropped.
00:06:33Now, Cheryl, how do you send this one up for the first 20 minutes?
00:06:36The Bruins continue to find themselves chasing the game here, James.
00:06:40They score!
00:06:41And it's back-to-back tallies!
00:06:43Yeah, and they've been chomping at the bit.
00:06:45Now they've got their opponent on their heel.
00:06:47They need a quick change here and find a way to continue the momentum.
00:06:52Well, the goaltender has no chance of catching up to this puck.
00:06:55I mean, man, he put some hot sauce, some pepper,
00:06:57and some mustard on this quick-release shot all at once.
00:07:15They've got your hot sauce here.
00:07:16Ottawa's made it a two-goal lead now here in this second period,
00:07:36and they are putting on a show tonight.
00:07:38Yeah, it's been an offensive clinic, hasn't it?
00:07:40They've dominated in terms of their shot selection,
00:07:42but they've been relentless on the puck as well.
00:07:44So, showing a lot of pressure.
00:07:46Scores!
00:07:47It's in the back of the net!
00:07:48Now, wait a second here.
00:07:49I don't think this is going to count, James.
00:07:51The official waves it off right away,
00:07:53and I wonder whether it was tipped, redirected off of the skate,
00:07:56or whether there was a kicking motion.
00:07:58So, two distinct things here.
00:08:00If you kick or make that move, the forward motion of your foot towards the net,
00:08:03it will be a no-goal, but if it's redirected, that's fine.
00:08:14The goal is raved off, and after further review, it's a no-goal,
00:08:18and everyone in the building is ecstatic.
00:08:20Still plenty of time left in this frame.
00:08:23Quick speed to Tolman.
00:08:30Great reach by Natchez.
00:08:32And that's picked off.
00:08:34Goes to the crease!
00:08:36Scores!
00:08:37They strike again, and that's three unanswered goals.
00:08:41Over and over and over again, James,
00:08:43and you can see the excitement on the bench.
00:08:45They know that they've deflated, and they've pushed their opponent back on their heels.
00:08:49They need to keep plugging away here and not get complacent.
00:08:53Well, he fought for position to find this puck on his backhand, James.
00:08:56He was running out of real estate, but he was able to put it through and find the netting.
00:09:00The Bruins take control of the face-off.
00:09:07And tries to make a diagonal pass to Tolmanen.
00:09:10And that's picked off in the neutral zone by Duck.
00:09:13Back to the point it goes.
00:09:17Boston's got control of it now from their own end.
00:09:22Through the neutral zone and along the boards.
00:09:24Here they come.
00:09:26Chesterton's made a nice stop there, and that can be difficult to do, James.
00:09:29I mean, sometimes you get cold or you get lulled into a game where you've been in the offensive zone most of the time.
00:09:35So it's often about timely saves that makes the difference.
00:09:38The center and feed!
00:09:41Oh, and he keeps it here!
00:09:43Oh, tremendous save on the play!
00:09:45What an incredible save!
00:09:46No idea how he got to that one, James.
00:09:48And the shooter is absolutely stunned!
00:09:51What a stop!
00:09:52The Senators have dominated them thus far and continue to do so here in this second.
00:10:02The Bruins win it in the defensive zone.
00:10:07McAvoy's taking it from his own end.
00:10:12Moves it around along the half wall.
00:10:15Fires it!
00:10:16Great stop by Gustafson!
00:10:19Stup docks across the line now and on the attack in the offensive end.
00:10:23And that shot dies in traffic.
00:10:25McAvoy's moving the puck through his own zone.
00:10:30Here's the shot!
00:10:31Oh, and somehow he gets a sliver of it and keeps him at bay.
00:10:39Ottawa's dominated right from the start.
00:10:42Their offense clicking on all cylinders, and they lead here in the second.
00:10:46And they take possession after the defensive zone face-off.
00:10:59Let's go! Let's go!
00:11:00Sends it quickly to Natchez.
00:11:03Steps across the line and on the attack down the right side.
00:11:06Knocked away.
00:11:08Puck grab by Lindholm.
00:11:10The Senators have it behind the net.
00:11:15And he coughs it up with the pass!
00:11:17Battling for the puck but still hangs on.
00:11:21Oh, look at this chance!
00:11:24Slides it quickly to Natchez.
00:11:27Carries the puck through the neutral zone.
00:11:30Ottawa's got a hold of it against the wall.
00:11:33The Bruins have it in the offensive zone.
00:11:37And the puck stopper hangs on to get a breather here for the team.
00:11:42Prostadocz back on the ice as he should be.
00:11:46He's the captain leader of this team.
00:11:48They're getting blown out right now, James.
00:11:50But what better way to create some charge here
00:11:52while your captain settling everyone down.
00:11:54Looks to get the puck over to top.
00:11:58Big save in front!
00:12:00Love the way the goaltender gets tight to the shooter here.
00:12:03The puck's in a low slot.
00:12:04You want to take away time?
00:12:05You want to take space?
00:12:06Goaltender does it and makes a save.
00:12:12Well past the midway mark of this period.
00:12:15The Senators lead it 4-0.
00:12:17They have dominated.
00:12:21Ottawa's won the draw.
00:12:23Well there was certainly pressure on the center to win this draw
00:12:26coming off of an icing where everyone's tired.
00:12:28When you get the win, you get out of your zone.
00:12:30That's blocked!
00:12:33Moves it to Tolmanen.
00:12:35And now he moves it quickly to Natchez.
00:12:40Across the floor.
00:12:41Stops in cold!
00:12:43Kendi plays it up.
00:12:45Kachuk's got it on the offensive end.
00:12:48There's a chance on the backhand!
00:12:50And they score!
00:12:52The pylon continues, Cheryl.
00:12:55Aw, it is ugly.
00:12:56And there's nothing worse in the score than having your own crowd just give way on you.
00:13:01They are not happy.
00:13:02You can hear the booing tonight in this building.
00:13:05Just a tough game all the way around.
00:13:07I think they screamed uncle about two of these ago.
00:13:10Two periods down, one more to go.
00:13:18Both teams have time to get a refresh and we'll be back for period number three.
00:13:23I'm fired up!
00:13:24I know you're fired up for this team.
00:13:26Ottawa's offense has been a thing to watch tonight as they lead it big time here early in the third.
00:13:32And we've got an offside with a faceoff looming.
00:13:35Ottawa's got the lead early in this third period.
00:13:41They have been a high-volume shooting squad tonight.
00:13:45And off the draw, they win the faceoff.
00:13:50Oh, and he somehow got a little piece of it and it stays out of the net.
00:13:56Here's a chance!
00:13:58Oh, and he gets a piece of that one to keep it out.
00:14:03Doc's got it in the defensive end.
00:14:10Takes it to the front!
00:14:12Oh, he got a little sliver and it stays out.
00:14:15And a great scene!
00:14:17Slides it across to Torbenen.
00:14:20With some open space here in the neutral zone.
00:14:23Loses the coverage there.
00:14:26Oh!
00:14:27Gets a little piece of it and keeps it out of the net.
00:14:34Lots of time left in this period.
00:14:36Boston's got some of their mojo going here, but they still need a lot more.
00:14:42Offense's own faceoff and he wins the draw.
00:14:45Big time stop there!
00:14:47And does it again!
00:14:49Man, is he ever quick on his speed, anticipating the play.
00:14:52Excellent reflexes.
00:14:53He's saving his team right now.
00:14:55Takes it from the right side.
00:14:57Skates to the crease!
00:14:59And the lane clogged up, blocking that!
00:15:01Knocks the puck away in the open ice.
00:15:04Takes the shot!
00:15:07And the goaltender comes up with a piece of it to keep it out of the net.
00:15:10Slides it across!
00:15:12Oh, what a glove save by Sandstrom!
00:15:15Ottawa's dominated in the puck possession department, putting plenty of shots on net.
00:15:25And they lead by a wide gap in the third.
00:15:29The Senators continue to lead here in this third period.
00:15:32They've been the busier team offensively.
00:15:35Ottawa's got it in the offensive zone.
00:15:38That goes off a twig!
00:15:40Sends it down low!
00:15:41Shoots it!
00:15:42Scores!
00:15:43He did it!
00:15:44He did it!
00:15:45100!
00:15:46What an unbelievable season, James!
00:15:47I mean, when he hit 50, you thought, ah, is he gonna get to 70?
00:15:48Not a chance.
00:15:49And he gets to 70!
00:15:50And you say, can he get to 80?
00:15:51And he gets to 80!
00:15:52And now he gets to 100!
00:15:53Oh, so impressive!
00:15:54What a year!
00:15:55Coaches love these kind of goals, James.
00:15:56When you have sustained offensive pressure, you're wearing your opponent down consistently,
00:16:09whether it's the cycle, or whether you're creating motion in lanes to the net.
00:16:12Everything they did was right here.
00:16:14You can feel this one coming.
00:16:15They finally convert on their chances.
00:16:37Ottawa's playing almost like they want a day off here tomorrow, Cheryl.
00:16:40Yeah, I'd say so.
00:16:41And we always look forward to a day off, and this coaching staff has got to be impressed
00:16:45with this team tonight.
00:16:46You know, the ability to get the puck to net, driving the pace of play, and just having
00:16:50really great habits, consistent effort right through the game.
00:16:53And this is definitely a lot more throughout this game.
00:17:14Puck ready to drop here any moment
00:17:18to get things underway again.
00:17:23The Senators take possession here
00:17:25inside the offensive zone.
00:17:27Puck picked up by Dock.
00:17:30And now it's grabbed by Lindholm.
00:17:32Through the neutral zone
00:17:34and into the offensive end.
00:17:36Out of midair, he swats it down to the ice.
00:17:40Flows to the sweet spot.
00:17:42How did he stop that one?
00:17:45He's been really effective tonight.
00:17:47Huge save on the play!
00:17:49Oh, my goodness! Wow!
00:17:51Absolutely incredible that he could extend himself
00:17:54like that, James, to be able to get onto that puck.
00:17:57Incredible save.
00:17:59Now a quick pass to Wysel.
00:18:02Takes the feed.
00:18:04Feeds it over.
00:18:06Shucks him down.
00:18:09Moved up ahead here in the neutral zone.
00:18:12Poked away in the defensive end.
00:18:15Sends one up to Pasternak.
00:18:17Dishes it to Tolmanen.
00:18:19Puck scooped up by Natchez.
00:18:21Pucks it over!
00:18:23He stegged that one with a block.
00:18:26The Senators have it now.
00:18:30Fountain's been dominated
00:18:31throughout this whole game, James.
00:18:32They're gonna get what they deserve in the end here,
00:18:34but they've been outworked
00:18:35and haven't managed the puck,
00:18:36and the result is evident on the scoreboard.
00:18:38Fades it to Tucker.
00:18:50Ottawa's number one line has been dominant tonight, James.
00:18:53They've been in the offensive zone.
00:18:54They've created a ton of opportunities,
00:18:56and there's a reason why they're in the lead.
00:18:58And he loses both the puck and his bounce after that hit.
00:19:02Takes the feed.
00:19:04The line is up!
00:19:04He got all of it!
00:19:06Gustafson's got the puck and hangs on for a whistle here in this third period.
00:19:10Well, he's been one of their best players all night.
00:19:12A reason why they're leading here in the third, James.
00:19:14But it's not just about the save, it's about managing the puck
00:19:17and making the decisions when to hold on.
00:19:23And off the draw, they'll take possession.
00:19:26Dished on over to Dopp.
00:19:28Here we go, on-man rush.
00:19:31He scores!
00:19:31And there's the hat-trick three, it's a magic number.
00:19:36It's a magic number, he's doing everything he can to take the crowd out of this one
00:19:40as he's with the away team, but he's been dominated, playing really confident all night long.
00:19:45The Senators continue to attack the net here in period number three, adding yet another goal to their score.
00:20:11Well, in all areas of the game that have really been terrific tonight, James,
00:20:14I've also enjoyed the communication that we're seeing on the ice,
00:20:18not just their body language, but also the vocalness.
00:20:21I mean, they're creating all over the ice, and it's been real fun to watch.
00:20:24Boston's got the puck here in the open ice, and that caroms off a potty in traffic.
00:20:31And less than a minute to go, finally, in this one.
00:20:36Boston's gained possession along the boards.
00:20:39Ottawa's got possession here in the offensive zone.
00:20:41He scores!
00:20:44Shows on the rebound, and makes it count!
00:20:46This is actually a tougher play than it looks, James.
00:20:56You have to have timing and an awareness to be able to get your stick on that rebound and then bury it.
00:21:02Not a lot of time and space available, but he executes perfectly.
00:21:08Ottawa's got a horn to the puck off the draw.
00:21:12That's a smart, handsome defensive play by McAvoy.
00:21:16Across the line and on the attack.
00:21:19Makes the save!
00:21:20Call them, call them to pressure!
00:21:27The Senators are just minutes away from closing out this blowout.
00:21:31They have had plenty of scoring opportunities and have maximized most of them.
00:21:36Keeps a hold of the puck after that knock.
00:21:39Here they are on the attack.
00:21:41We're going to face off after the puck stays covered up.
00:21:45The Senators have been a lot of fun to watch tonight.
00:21:51Lots of offensive scoring chances, and they have capitalized late here in this third.
00:21:58There's the final horn, and this one's in the books.
00:22:02Cheryl, watching this performance tonight, I think this team was maybe believing their own press a little too much.
00:22:08Yeah, sometimes when you're on the...
00:22:10All right, at this time, everyone, we'll catch you up on what went down in all the action in the league tonight.
00:22:21The Senators were hoping to take a bite out of the Bruins.
00:22:24Ottawa punches their way to victory thanks to a strong offensive display.
00:22:28Well, that's all she wrote for this one, but let's get you caught up on some of the other finals in the match-ups tonight.
00:22:34Andre's turn.
00:22:35Tell us about you.
00:22:44I hope you enjoyed it.
00:22:53All right.
00:22:55Let's get to your hands up.
00:22:57Ottawa's taken back-to-back games
00:23:08in this ongoing grudge match.
00:23:11Kachuk's performance drove them nuts in the last game
00:23:14with a number of goals and hits.
00:23:16He was such a force away from the puck
00:23:18with a number of blocks and hits the last time they played.
00:23:21Two dynamic stars and two teams
00:23:23that provide a whole lot of smash-melt hockey,
00:23:26and it's ready to go.
00:23:27Just moments away from puck drop,
00:23:29both teams seem ready to go.
00:23:35The Senators will start with the puck
00:23:37as they win the opening face-off here.
00:23:40To the low side!
00:23:41Makes a save!
00:23:44Sends the pass over.
00:23:46Into the offensive zone.
00:23:49And that pass goes off the stick.
00:23:52Works the cross to Kachuk.
00:23:55Centering feed!
00:23:56Oh, he comes up with a stop!
00:23:59And that's a great hit-set play by Sarkoski!
00:24:05Handles the pass.
00:24:06Puts it off the post!
00:24:08Got to love offense, James,
00:24:09and the ability to score goals,
00:24:11and this one just goes right off the pipe.
00:24:13That's frustrating.
00:24:14And that's turned to side by Montembeau!
00:24:17Cross-ice pass to Suzuki.
00:24:20Gaining momentum up along the side.
00:24:24Kachuk gets a piece of it and will play on!
00:24:26Gustafsson's been consistent all season long.
00:24:29I mean, his team's in the winning column.
00:24:31He scores!
00:24:34The captain leading by example!
00:24:40Well, Pounder, you know something about rivalry matchups,
00:24:42and I mean, this is what rivalry's all about, right?
00:24:44It really is, and there's an uptick in his performance
00:24:47every time he plays this team, James.
00:24:48I mean, he's a point-per-game player
00:24:50when he faces this opponent,
00:24:51and there's no question about it.
00:24:53He is a difference-maker when he plays against them.
00:24:55Go, that's go!
00:24:56Go, that's go!
00:24:58Go, that's go!
00:25:01Takes the feed at center and moves forward.
00:25:04Sends a pass over.
00:25:07Moves into the slot!
00:25:08And that goes off course off a body.
00:25:14Takes the feed at the point.
00:25:16Stores him in front.
00:25:17Stores!
00:25:18Stores defense and effort to poke it away.
00:25:26Taken by Kidney.
00:25:28The Canadians cross the line and gain the zone.
00:25:32Oh, I thought he was going to be beaten,
00:25:34and he somehow got a piece of that.
00:25:36Doc's been feeling it, James.
00:25:38You know who else is feeling it?
00:25:39His teammates.
00:25:40They have been the beneficiaries
00:25:41of a great leader on the ice.
00:25:44He's just been distributing the puck
00:25:45and generating a ton of offense.
00:25:47Sanderson's got the puck in his own zone.
00:25:52Here's a backhander.
00:25:54Oh, he got all of that.
00:25:55What a save by Montembeau.
00:25:57That's an unbelievable save.
00:25:59A great A scoring chance taken away
00:26:00as he flashes the leather and makes a stop.
00:26:03Dishes it off.
00:26:05Misses over the net.
00:26:06Players work too hard to have the puck on their stick
00:26:09and to get to scoring areas to not hit the net.
00:26:12Even if they don't score,
00:26:13they'll get a rebound if they at least hit the tender.
00:26:16Gains the zone from the right side.
00:26:18And he'll hang on to it to regroup here for a moment.
00:26:28Broken up with the stick and the defensive end.
00:26:31Strong use of the body to force the puck loose.
00:26:34And a great scene.
00:26:36Takes a shot.
00:26:37Oh, and what a save as he gets that one, too.
00:26:41Oh, and made the save.
00:26:43How did he stop him?
00:26:44I had no idea, James.
00:26:45I mean, he was down and out with profound athleticism.
00:26:48Desperation got him back in to make it.
00:26:51As play continues, this place is...
00:26:53He's got a step.
00:26:55Oh, what a save in the play.
00:26:57Wow.
00:26:57Oh, that's grand larceny, James.
00:26:59I mean, he just stole one away from his opponent.
00:27:02A save.
00:27:04And they keep the pressure on.
00:27:07And he slides in quickly to Slavkovsky.
00:27:13Swing and a miss.
00:27:15The Senators get a hold of the puck in their own end.
00:27:18Here's an odd man rush.
00:27:20Quick shot.
00:27:21Scores.
00:27:22And that's three unanswered goals.
00:27:26And as my mom likes to say, they're cooking with gas.
00:27:29They're cooking with gas.
00:27:30And you can expect that they have put their opponents on their heels.
00:27:34This is a team that knows that they've worn their opponent down.
00:27:38Now they've got to keep the pedal to the metal.
00:27:43And with that, the first period comes to an end.
00:27:46Both teams will have a chance to get a breather.
00:27:49And they'll be back on the ice with period number two in not too long.
00:27:53We are about ready to go for the middle stanza here tonight.
00:27:56Well, let's see if there was any message sent in the dressing room here
00:28:01before the start of the second,
00:28:02because it was one-sided, to say the least, in the first.
00:28:06Well, Cheryl, oh, it's good!
00:28:07And a huge goal here has put the right back into this line.
00:28:13Yeah, and then there's one more.
00:28:14They'll be run away from time.
00:28:15This game up, James.
00:28:16So it's about building and continually finding ways to press
00:28:20and be aggressive on the puck.
00:28:22Puck grab by Sanderson.
00:28:23The Habs have a hold of it in the defensive zone.
00:28:30Quick pass to Slotkowski.
00:28:33Slides it across for Suzuki.
00:28:35Here's a short pass to Topfield.
00:28:38Great reach with the poke check.
00:28:41Slides the puck across to Doc.
00:28:44Takes a shot.
00:28:45Oh, he stops it with a glove.
00:28:47Great reflexes there.
00:28:49Lots of hockey left to be played in this period.
00:28:56The Habs are trying to get back into this one
00:28:58as they still trail by two goals.
00:29:04The Senators win the faceoff.
00:29:07And he takes the feed.
00:29:09Gets a piece of it to keep it out.
00:29:11Well, a nice save by the goaltender, and even better,
00:29:13is that he redirects the puck to the corner to safety.
00:29:16Montreal's across the blue line.
00:29:21Here's a shot.
00:29:23Oh, and he steps up with a glove to stop that one.
00:29:26And it's a quick pass to Kachuk.
00:29:31Sox got the puck along the wing.
00:29:33Montreal's looking to break out at their own end.
00:29:37Nice speed at center.
00:29:38Moves up ahead now.
00:29:40Poked away by Walker.
00:29:42Ottawa's got possession of the puck.
00:29:43They gain the zone from the left side.
00:29:47Shot.
00:29:48Fantastic save.
00:29:50Montembeau's movements are outstanding.
00:29:52I mean, he gets the position so quick.
00:29:54He's athletic.
00:29:55He makes a huge save from the slot.
00:29:57My goodness, this has been a pressure-filled shift here.
00:30:03And they'll end all that pressure as they clear the zone.
00:30:07It's shot.
00:30:08And that's tonight by Gustafson.
00:30:11Knocked around, but keeps it going.
00:30:14Ottawa's looking to break out.
00:30:17Feeds the puck to Walker.
00:30:21Right up the gut into the offensive end.
00:30:25Puts it at the end.
00:30:26Stubbed by the goaltender.
00:30:27He got a little piece of that one.
00:30:29He's got two goals already.
00:30:31Puck's on his stick.
00:30:32He's hunting his third.
00:30:34Montreal's got it across the line.
00:30:36Here in the late goings of the period, Ottawa's got a 3-1 lead.
00:30:53Puck is dropped and he wins the draw here in the defensive zone.
00:30:57Poked away in the offensive end.
00:30:59From behind the net.
00:31:00Looks to break out.
00:31:04From the open ice, they gain the line.
00:31:06Montreal's got the puck.
00:31:10Caulfield's gained the line and on the attack.
00:31:13Oh, he caught him.
00:31:14Oh, and that's a thunderous hit along the boards.
00:31:17It's bone-crushing, James.
00:31:18You feel that one right from your toes all the way up to your shoulders.
00:31:22Talk about finishing a check.
00:31:23From the left side, takes to the center.
00:31:27Handles the puck at the point.
00:31:29Here's a feed in front.
00:31:30Great defensive hits at play to pick it off.
00:31:35Here's the backhand.
00:31:36Oh, he's got puddled by Gustafson.
00:31:39I love how aggressive he plays the shooter on the inner slot here, James.
00:31:43He knows that he's got to take away the net, so he gets out and challenges to make the save.
00:31:47Man, James, he shows incredible quickness right there as he makes one and then the second save.
00:31:54The Senators have been the more active squad, and they continue to lead late in the second period.
00:32:04Montreal's got it in the defensive zone.
00:32:08Less than a minute to go here in the second.
00:32:1040 minutes down, still another 20 to go here in this one.
00:32:25Join us for period number three next.
00:32:28The moment of truth has arrived for both these teams.
00:32:32Third period action set to go.
00:32:35And they have dropped the puck here on the final frame.
00:32:38Cheryl, 40 minutes in the books now played.
00:32:42How do you view this one?
00:32:43Montreal's behind in this game because they've mismanaged the puck change.
00:32:46You know the coach is not going to be happy.
00:32:48They weren't ready right from the get-go at puck top.
00:32:50And really chasing the game all over the ice, forcing plays and giving up the puck way too easily.
00:32:56And he takes the pass.
00:32:59Some solid defensive work in the road in with the puck check.
00:33:03The Canadians take it along the wing.
00:33:05And a nice poke check inside the neutral zone.
00:33:11Moves it quickly over to Kachuk.
00:33:13Sends the feed, it's right!
00:33:15And that's stopped!
00:33:16Here's the change!
00:33:37Here's the change!
00:33:37Lots of time left in this period.
00:33:43Been a pretty good offensive displayed at least for one side.
00:33:463-1 is where we sit.
00:33:48They win the draw and goal in the attack.
00:33:50Docs throwing the play into the corner.
00:33:53And that's deflected!
00:33:55The Habs move the puck in the defensive zone.
00:33:59Montreal's got it along the wall.
00:34:01Oh, and it stays out!
00:34:04He got a piece of that one!
00:34:06Oh, and stops him again!
00:34:08Oh, man, he's so dialed in, makes consecutive saves there, and keeps his team in it.
00:34:13Montreal's got a hold of the puck!
00:34:15Tosses it to Slavkovsky!
00:34:17Aw, quick save!
00:34:19Tosses it to Slavkovsky!
00:34:20Aw, quick save!
00:34:21Gustafson's had a solid night between the pipes, James.
00:34:24I mean, he's done everything he could to stop the puck, as indicated by his save percentage,
00:34:28but his team has also been really strong.
00:34:30They've got the confidence of their netminder, and they've created a ton of opportunities.
00:34:34Tosses the Huff!
00:34:35Tosses it to the cross!
00:34:37And he uses the glove to keep that out, getting a piece of it.
00:34:41Huff picked up by Graves.
00:34:43Quick feed to Walker.
00:34:45Slides the pass over to Doc.
00:34:47Moves it to Sanderson.
00:34:51Fires it!
00:34:52Picks that one right in the logo!
00:34:54And we're gonna get a stoppage here as the referee blows the play dead.
00:35:00Inching closer to the midway mark of the period.
00:35:03The Senators are up 3-1.
00:35:09Here in the late, going to the frame, Ottawa's got a 3-1 lead,
00:35:13as they have dominated for the most part in this.
00:35:17Scooped up along the wall by Caulfield.
00:35:22Oh, and some smooth skating to lose the defender there.
00:35:27Here's a shot!
00:35:28And there's a glove save on the play.
00:35:31Slides it across to Doc.
00:35:33The Senators gain the zone.
00:35:37Here's a shot!
00:35:39Oh, and it skips out as he gets a piece of that one!
00:35:41Back!
00:35:42Oh, and he tracks!
00:35:43Perfectly in the offensive end!
00:35:45Took it along the wall by Doc.
00:35:47Oh, here we go!
00:35:49Too much congestion in front!
00:35:52All sorts of pressure!
00:35:53Score!
00:35:55And that's 3!
00:35:56It's a hat trick here on the road!
00:35:59Well, hold hat for him in a way,
00:36:00because it's a business-like approach as he's on the road.
00:36:03He just says, yeah, just bring it!
00:36:05I mean, gets a Hattie to boot.
00:36:06Ottawa's performance tonight still showing no signs of let-up here in this third period.
00:36:24Well, they've had such an impressive performance, James.
00:36:26It's been dominant in all areas of the ice,
00:36:28and there's been no lag or no let-up.
00:36:30The message has been clear by the coaching staff as well as everyone on the bench.
00:36:34Keep pushing!
00:36:35The Canadiens take possession in the defensive end.
00:36:40Takes the pass!
00:36:42The Hags take it along the wall!
00:36:47The Senators get a hold of the puck along the boards.
00:36:51From the left side into the middle of the neutral zone.
00:36:54Big tie stop there!
00:36:56Montembeau is able to make that save look easy, James.
00:36:59It's because he gets to the top of his crease,
00:37:01he cuts down his angles,
00:37:02and then he can redirect it to safety.
00:37:05Shot!
00:37:07Oh, and he just got enough of that one to keep it out!
00:37:11They go on the attack from the left side.
00:37:14Here's a chance!
00:37:16Nothing!
00:37:17You've got to get a shot on that, James.
00:37:19You get in tight, you have an opportunity in that scoring area,
00:37:22and you don't even get a shot on that.
00:37:24Not good enough.
00:37:26They've got some momentum here!
00:37:28And he gets just enough to keep it out!
00:37:31This is a fantastic save, James.
00:37:33He's all over.
00:37:34What do you mean by that?
00:37:35Nice score!
00:37:36And that's back-to-back snipes!
00:37:39Well, it feels like there's a wave of momentum,
00:37:42and it has certainly changed here.
00:37:43You can get the opportunity,
00:37:45but you have to execute.
00:37:46That's two in a row.
00:37:49Well, this is an incredibly intelligent shot, James.
00:37:51It's recognized that there's net front presence
00:37:53in front of the goaltender,
00:37:54who's dropping to a butterfly
00:37:55to try and take away as much net as possible,
00:37:57and he finds his way through.
00:37:59The Senators have definitely used
00:38:04the shoot-first mentality,
00:38:05and look at the score here late.
00:38:10Nice, three, two, one!
00:38:13And they win that neutral zone draw.
00:38:14Nice, two, one, two, one.
00:38:16Got it.
00:38:17That's the number 50, three,
00:38:19and by number 71,
00:38:21Greenlee Brewer.
00:38:22Tied at the goal.
00:38:2319 minutes, 45 seconds.
00:38:25There's the final horn,
00:38:29and that'll do it here this evening.
00:38:32An emphatic win,
00:38:33and we can put that W as a capital.
00:38:36Well, it's almost as if their opponent
00:38:37were defeated before the game started.
00:38:39I mean, you can see it in the warm-up,
00:38:40just in their body language,
00:38:41playing a team that's on a winning streak,
00:38:43playing with a ton of confidence.
00:38:45They didn't give their opponent...
00:38:46Well, some fun, some drama,
00:38:55a little bit of everything on the ice tonight.

00:39:44is ready to go for the playoffs,
00:39:45and it's the final tune-up
00:39:46before they do it for real.
00:39:51Both teams look ready to go,
00:39:53and it's time to drop the puck.
00:39:55The Predators have won the draw,
00:40:00and we are now under way.
00:40:03Takes the shot,
00:40:04and that's off target as it hits the body.
00:40:07Tries to feed it over to Kachuk.
00:40:11Shot!
00:40:12And just got a piece of it to keep it out.
00:40:15Feeds it over.
00:40:17Makes the ball stand.
00:40:18And what a save on the play.
00:40:20And there's nothing technical about that.
00:40:22That is all about the will
00:40:23to find a way to make that save.
00:40:26Incredible, James.
00:40:27Face off coming up here,
00:40:29and Cheryl, let's see if they can keep
00:40:30that momentum going.
00:40:31No question about it, James.
00:40:32We know where the momentum lies right now.
00:40:34Watch this is just going.
00:40:36And look who's on the board!
00:40:39And team has this place.
00:40:41The present again!
00:40:42Oh, you can just hear it in the building.
00:40:43I mean, it's just electric in here, James.
00:40:45And how much fun is it for them?
00:40:47When you play at home,
00:40:48you get on the board first.
00:40:49You create a ton of momentum.
00:40:51You don't want to give any life to your opponent.
00:40:54Summer on the top!
00:40:55Dishes it off again here!
00:40:57Smuts it again!
00:40:59And he demised that great opportunity there!
00:41:02Dropped him on the open ice!
00:41:07Right up Main Street and on the attack!
00:41:09The Senators scoop it up along the boards!
00:41:14Passes it over!
00:41:16Denies him!
00:41:17Dishes it off!
00:41:21Look at the attack!
00:41:22And the fans are loving this right now!
00:41:26And the defensive team's got it now!
00:41:32Cuts to the front!
00:41:34Oh, it stays out!
00:41:35He got a piece of that one!
00:41:38Ottawa's gained the line and into the zone!
00:41:40With the back defender!
00:41:42Oh, my goodness!
00:41:43It stayed out!
00:41:44What a scene!
00:41:45It was all but in, James,
00:41:46and that athleticism and the will
00:41:48to get to that puck.
00:41:49That was on display!
00:41:51Ottawa's got the puck in their own end!
00:41:54Gaining momentum along the wing!
00:41:55And he takes the feed!
00:42:01Scores!
00:42:02I think that went off to the backer!
00:42:10The Senators have had way more chances offensively,
00:42:14and as a result, they're leading in this one.
00:42:16Passed the midway mark of the frame.
00:42:38Ottawa's been the better team here
00:42:40over the last few minutes,
00:42:41increasing their lead to two.
00:42:43And now it's grabbed by McKinnon.
00:42:45You've got to figure he knows about this next milestone.
00:42:49He's only one goal away.
00:42:50The Senators will play it in their own end.
00:42:54Make some space!
00:42:56Quick shot!
00:42:58Redirected off one of his own line mates there.
00:43:02Here he is from the slot!
00:43:04Too much congestion blocks the shot.
00:43:09Huge play in his own end to come up with the puck.
00:43:12Into the offensive end now.
00:43:14And that's knocked away in the defensive end by Duck.
00:43:18Into the offensive zone, down the right wing.
00:43:21Saros with an incredible save.
00:43:23I mean, that was a clinic, James.
00:43:25He weathers the storm and just makes a highlight-wheel save.
00:43:28Shuts him down!
00:43:31Gains the zone through the middle.
00:43:35Takes a shot!
00:43:37Huge stop by Saros!
00:43:38Covers it up.
00:43:40We'll get a stoppage in play.
00:43:45Officials getting ready to drop the puck to get play back underway.
00:43:48Go Saros!
00:43:51Go Saros!
00:43:53Go Saros!
00:43:57That'll do it for period number one.
00:44:00We'll drop the puck on the second period in just moments.
00:44:02Well, the first 20 is in the books.
00:44:05Let's see what this second period offers.
00:44:09The Senators' power play continues to start the frame, and they win the draw.
00:44:14Sends the pass down low.
00:44:16And the traffic neutralizes that threat.
00:44:19Keeps possession.
00:44:20Sends it in deep.
00:44:25Ottawa's got the puck.
00:44:28Slides the puck across to Kachuk.
00:44:31Quick pass to Sanderson.
00:44:35Here's a shot!
00:44:36Shuts him down!
00:44:38Quick feed down low.
00:44:42A chance!
00:44:43Score!
00:44:45And the field did not the extra attack.
00:44:47What's up?
00:44:48Now you're losing all the rest of these, James, to their advantage.
00:44:51And the recognition and awareness of when to take it to the net.
00:44:56That's exactly how the coach would have drawn it up, James.
00:44:58And then you move the puck around the outside to disrupt the coverage.
00:45:01You open up the middle of the ice, and then you get a glorious shot chance,
00:45:05and you capitalize.
00:45:06Excellent work.
00:45:07The Senators continue to press forward with positive results.
00:45:22Now 3-zip here in the second.
00:45:24I don't think the goaltender's broken a sweat yet, James,
00:45:26because they've been in the offensive zone,
00:45:28holding possession, dancing around the ice.
00:45:31Score!
00:45:31Score!
00:45:32Break out the crotchet on the Steelers,
00:45:35because that's the run into you.
00:45:37Well, it's incredible.
00:45:38You can tell that they are moving and shaking.
00:45:41They're getting the puck going north.
00:45:42They're transitioning so fast.
00:45:44And man, do they have their opponent on their heels.
00:45:46Ottawa's got to be pleased with the effort they've had tonight.
00:46:02They just continue to pile up the goals.
00:46:05Well, you want to buy in, and the coach will be impressed by this.
00:46:07You buy in defensively, and it creates offense,
00:46:10because you're quick to get pucks and go north.
00:46:12And this is exactly how you take care of your own zone.
00:46:15How about the majority of shots in the offensive zone as well?
00:46:18200-foot game.
00:46:19It's been complete today so far, James.
00:46:22And he takes the dish.
00:46:24There's another stop!
00:46:26That's an incredible sequence of saves.
00:46:28He is so dialed in, but I've got to say,
00:46:30where are the D-boxing out?
00:46:32The Senators have generated a lot of pucks on net
00:46:35and have turned more than a few of those shots into goals.
00:46:39Ottawa's won the drought.
00:46:40They'll go to work.
00:46:43They're seized to pass.
00:46:45Big-time stop!
00:46:48And he slides it quickly to Forsberg.
00:46:51And now he moves it quickly to Marner.
00:46:54On the attack along the boards.
00:46:57And that skips away on a nice defensive deflection.
00:47:01The Senators are on the attack.
00:47:04Shot!
00:47:04And he comes up with it.
00:47:06Great hands up play by the defender.
00:47:08Moves the puck into the attacking area.
00:47:13Shuts the door with a great save!
00:47:16Tarasov's done a good job making that save,
00:47:18especially because it's been a quiet night for him.
00:47:20It's been an offensive explosion in the other end.
00:47:23But when you're faced with a save, you have to make it.
00:47:25You don't want to open the door for your opponent.
00:47:29Quick stop right, Tarasov!
00:47:32Tarasov's got the puck, and he's going to hang on.
00:47:38The Senators have been on fire offensively tonight,
00:47:41and they lead for good reason here in the second.
00:47:43Nashville's got it in their own zone.
00:47:56Here they come up along the wing.
00:48:01Ottawa's got the puck along the wall.
00:48:05Takes the feed.
00:48:07The Predators get a hold of the puck.
00:48:09Looks to make a play over to Forsberg.
00:48:11Here they come.
00:48:16Moves it quickly over to Shea.
00:48:19Ottawa's regained possession of the puck.
00:48:22Streaking through center, they go on the attack.
00:48:25Puts it on the...
00:48:26Spectacular stop by the goaltender.
00:48:29How did he hang on to that?
00:48:30Well, that shot came quick, and it was right out front.
00:48:32He had to be sharp.
00:48:33He'd be right on it and show his brilliant reflexes.
00:48:36And they'll go the other way with it.
00:48:38Great play by Walker.
00:48:39The Senators looking against the half wall.
00:48:43Shea stick-handling in his own zone.
00:48:46Now a quick pass to Marner.
00:48:48Oh, great save here!
00:48:51Marner's back in the lineup after rehabbing his injury,
00:48:54and he's quick to create some offense there
00:48:56with that nice danger shot.
00:48:57Fires in on net.
00:48:59Oh, there's a great stop by Wilkerson.
00:49:02Wilkerson's going to hang on to the puck's roll whistle.
00:49:05The Senators with a total team effort to this point
00:49:12as they leave comfortably here in the second.
00:49:21And that'll bring an end to the second period of play.
00:49:24Let's get a clean sheet of ice
00:49:26and come back with the third period next.
00:49:27Fans are buzzing.
00:49:31Teams are gliding into position here
00:49:32for the start of the third.
00:49:35Here we go.
00:49:36Third period set to get underway.
00:49:38Simply too much to not enough at this point.
00:49:41Well, Pounder, we've played more than 40 minutes now
00:49:43in this one.
00:49:44How do you view things?
00:49:45Nashville's got to stop giving the puck away, James.
00:49:48I mean, when it's on their stick,
00:49:49it's like a hot potato, and they're throwing it away.
00:49:51And I'm telling you, their opponent is really...
00:49:52It's a 3-0-1!
00:49:55Oh, and the rush comes to an end
00:49:56as they cannot complete the play.
00:49:59Oh, you might call that friendly fire
00:50:00as it goes off one of his teammates.
00:50:03Here's a short pass to Marner.
00:50:07Here's the puck.
00:50:08Here, here!
00:50:09Scores!
00:50:11And he lights the lamp again,
00:50:13and that's 25, I believe, now.
00:50:15Yeah, it certainly is, James,
00:50:17and that's a real nice number,
00:50:18showing that he's had a strong, consistent season,
00:50:21in particular, on the scoreboard.
00:50:22The Predators haven't had a lot of things
00:50:24go their way tonight,
00:50:25but they finally got a positive here in the third.
00:50:27They're going to have to outnumber their opponent
00:50:29if they want to claw back from this two-ball deficit.
00:50:32They're running out of runway.
00:50:33They're going to find a way to get some chances.
00:50:36Marner's got it against the boards.
00:50:39Takes a shot, and that goes off a body.
00:50:42Grabs the puck here at the blue line.
00:50:45Gets in front of him.
00:50:48Comes center, they get into the attacking area.
00:50:51Fires it!
00:50:51The lane is plugged up, and that shot's blocked.
00:50:56They put the puck into the offensive end.
00:50:59Ottawa's got the puck along the boards.
00:51:04Nashville's in now.
00:51:05The Predators have the puck on the board.
00:51:11Swatted away with the stick in the defensive zone.
00:51:14Went to blast.
00:51:16And too much traffic in front blocks that one.
00:51:18All alone!
00:51:20Oh, it's a lot of the play!
00:51:22Oh, this is a great play by the tender to anticipate and get across to make that save.
00:51:30Stop with ease!
00:51:34Marner's got it along the boards.
00:51:36Here's a shot!
00:51:38Oh, how did he get a piece of that?
00:51:40Slides it diagonally to Kachuk.
00:51:51Ottawa's top line has been just that tonight.
00:51:53They've contributed offensively, and there are a reason they're in the lead.
00:51:56Oh, a clutch save!
00:51:59Bump has dialed in and outstanding at anticipating the play here, James.
00:52:03He recognizes exactly where the greatest threat is on the ice.
00:52:07It's a slot area.
00:52:08He gets the position and makes the save.
00:52:10Ottawa's been the better team offensively tonight.
00:52:12A lot of scoring chances, and they lead it late in this third period.
00:52:17The Senators will go to work here in the offensive zone.
00:52:22The Predators will play in front of the offensive zone.
00:52:26And now he angles it across to Marner.
00:52:29To the front!
00:52:30Oh, he got a piece of it to keep it out.
00:52:37A critical draw here.
00:52:45Ottawa's won the faceoff deep in their own end.
00:52:49And he slides it quickly to Doc.
00:52:53Along the half-well with the puck.
00:52:56The Senators are sending a clear message that they are not taking their foot off the gas in this third period here, Cheryl.
00:53:13back in their favor.
00:53:17The Senators are sending a clear message
00:53:19that they are not taking their foot off the gas
00:53:21in this third period here, Cheryl.
00:53:23Well, you can certainly tell that they bought into the game plan,
00:53:25and the coach is certainly ecstatic
00:53:27with the performance of the entire bench.
00:53:29I mean, look at the way they're moving,
00:53:31holding the puck, attacking the net at the right times.
00:53:33It has been a seamless effort.
00:53:35And a great save!
00:53:37Rebound control is critical in the game of hockey,
00:53:40putting it to the corner,
00:53:42and now the offensive player has to hound the puck.
00:53:45This one-sided affair finally nearing the end.
00:53:50Grabbed along the board by Doc.
00:53:54With the blast!
00:53:56Oh, what a save in front!
00:53:58What a fantastic save from a high-danger scoring area, James,
00:54:01and, I mean, he's bailing his team out.
00:54:03They have to do a better job of protecting the middle of the ice.
00:54:06Karasov's opted to hang on to the puck for a face-off.
00:54:09The Senators have pummeled their opponents tonight.
00:54:14They have been the busier team offensively
00:54:16and have converted numerous times here in this third period.
00:54:21Slides the puck to Sanheim.
00:54:25Takes the feed.
00:54:28Shot!
00:54:28And then it got caught up in traffic and goes off the stick.
00:54:31He steals!
00:54:32There's the attack on the lead, Ray Chabot!
00:54:36Ray Chabot is right there at home over the ice.
00:54:40They're going to have to collect them all.
00:54:42This is going to take some time,
00:54:43but, man, has he ever had an effective night?
00:54:46He had two, and he was thinking three all the way.
00:54:48The Senators have been going in one direction all night long,
00:55:00and that's to the net.
00:55:01And they lead it here late in this third period.
00:55:04Tries to get the puck to Kachuk.
00:55:07Through the offensive zone and behind the net now.
00:55:10And the traffic jam in front blocks the shot.
00:55:13And as the final seconds tick away,
00:55:18listen to this place.
00:55:19Recognize a hard-earned victory.
00:55:23Pass this over to you, Kachuk.
00:55:28There it is.
00:55:29Final horn sounds.
00:55:30We are all over here in this run.
00:55:33We're on through this run, Parker.
00:55:34Can we call this a heater?
00:55:36We've got it here.
00:55:37And any time you're in the win column
00:55:39multiple games in a row, James,
00:55:41you know that everyone is feeling it.
00:55:42There it comes.
00:55:54Time to take a look at what happened around the league
00:55:57as we check in on some of the scores.
00:55:59The Predators took on the Senators.
00:56:01Ottawa posts a victory thanks to a strong offensive display.
00:56:05All right, checking in on some of the other action
00:56:07around the league tonight.
00:56:08All right, let's get all you poolies
00:56:14and all you hockey fans caught up
00:56:16on all the action out on the ice tonight.
00:56:18The Predators had an on-ice collision with the Senators.
00:56:22Ottawa toasted the opposition
00:56:23with a big goal-scoring night.
00:56:26No shortage of action in the National Hockey League.
00:56:29Let's take a look at elsewhere what went down.
00:56:31The Islanders were in tough with the Hurricanes.
00:56:35The New York Islanders took it in overtime
00:56:37and skate off into the night with the two points.
00:56:40The Blue Shirts took to the ice
00:56:42for a collision with the Devils.
00:56:43The New York Rangers triumphed easily in this one.
00:56:47We got to take a quick pause for the cause,
00:56:49but we got a lot more coming up on the other side.
00:56:52Stay with us.
00:56:52Welcome back to the show, everybody.
00:56:58I'm James Cebulski.
00:56:59And, you know, hey, the playoffs are here.
00:57:01The intensity's ramping up.
00:57:03And you can see it in the eyes of the players
00:57:05as they met with the media.
00:57:06And you can also see it in the coaching staff as well.
00:57:09And from what I understand, the coach,
00:57:11and I'll tell you what, I like this.
00:57:13You know, you want your best players to be exactly that
00:57:16if you're hoping to win.
00:57:17And for the coach to kind of challenge,
00:57:19hey, listen, you need to get off to a good start.
00:57:21We need you to be the catalyst here.
00:57:24We need you to lead by example.
00:57:26And quite frankly, he's got to be.
00:57:28You know, set the tone.
00:57:30If you want to win, set the tone.
00:57:33Draw that line in the sand,
00:57:34or at least draw that line in the ice.
00:57:37But get off to a good start.
00:57:38I think it's critical for this team here this spring.
00:57:41All right, back to the phones we go.
00:57:43Let's go to Mike.
00:57:47You know, when you look at the run
00:57:49that he has had over the course of his career,
00:57:51I mean, he's already built a pretty good resume
00:57:54to make a case for the Hall of Fame.
00:57:56A couple of Stanley Cups
00:57:58has just been an absolute cornerstone.
00:58:03You know, and I think it's easy
00:58:05for a lot of people to sit there
00:58:06and post the pictures and the gifs
00:58:08over the fact that,
00:58:10ah, you talked about being in it to win it this year
00:58:12and you came up short.
00:58:13But you know what?
00:58:15They looked good all season long.
00:58:17They just ran into a better team here.
00:58:19I'm not going to sit here and bury this team.
00:58:22You look at these two teams,
00:58:23how they matched up,
00:58:25and over the course of the series,
00:58:27the better team won here.
00:58:28This is not about what somebody didn't do
00:58:31or rise to the challenge
00:58:33or rise to the occasion.
00:58:35They simply got beat.
00:58:38And sometimes you just have to tip your hat
00:58:40to a better team.
00:58:41And that's what we saw case in point here tonight.
00:58:43Let's get to the phones.
00:58:45We got Joey.
00:58:48You know what?
00:58:49I think, hey, look,
00:58:50I get why the fan base is disappointed, right?
00:58:53Hey, look, you play to win, right?
00:58:55You play to win the game.
00:58:56You want to win championships.
00:58:58And I will say this.
00:59:00I loved what the coaching staff had to say
00:59:03about his play
00:59:04because of the fact that, man,
00:59:06he was noticeable every night.
00:59:09He brought it.
00:59:28You know what?
00:59:37I think, hey, look,
00:59:38I get why the fan base is disappointed, right?
00:59:41Hey, look, you play to win, right?
00:59:43You play to win the game.
00:59:45You want to win championships.
00:59:46And I will say this.
00:59:48I loved what the coaching staff had to say
00:59:51about his play
00:59:52because of the fact that, man,
00:59:54he was noticeable every night.
00:59:57But he brought it, right?
01:00:00You know, you can't look at him and say,
01:00:02you know what?
01:00:02We didn't get enough out of him.
01:00:04He was great in the postseason.
01:00:07Loved his energy.
01:00:08Loved his compete.
01:00:09And I think what you heard
01:00:10from the coaching staff there just moments ago,
01:00:12I think they felt the same way as well.
01:00:14All right, back to line five we go.
01:00:16Who is it?
01:00:17It's Navi.
01:00:20You know, and some high praise
01:00:22from the coaching staff.
01:00:23And you think, I'll tell you what,
01:00:24like this coaching staff deserves a lot of credit
01:00:27for this Lady Bing Award win
01:00:29because he wasn't always this type of player on the ice.
01:00:33But there was some tough love
01:00:35from the coaching staff to say,
01:00:36look, you've got to adjust your play.
01:00:39You can still bring that energy and fire and compete,
01:00:42but you've got to harness it the right way.
01:00:44And to his credit,
01:00:46he took that constructive criticism,
01:00:48turned it into a positive,
01:00:50and look at that,
01:00:51has just been recognized league-wide
01:00:53as this year's winner of the Lady Bing Award.
01:00:55Remarkable story.
01:00:56I think it's a remarkable story
01:00:58what we've just witnessed this past season.
01:01:00All right, we've got a lot more coming your way.
01:01:01We've got a very special guest.
01:01:03We've got a lot more coming your way.
01:01:04Let's go.
01:01:34Let's go.
01:02:04Let's go.
01:02:34Let's go.
01:03:04Great.
01:03:05Right?
01:03:06There's very good.
01:03:07And then there's great.
01:03:09And I think we're waiting to see if he can make that jump and win the Stanley Cup.
01:03:12All right.
01:03:12To the phones we go.
01:03:13Matthew is online.
01:03:14You know, in the whole narrative and the expression being good in the room, right?
01:03:22You know, chemistry is important with a team.
01:03:24You know, how many times have we seen teams that are absolutely stacked with talent and
01:03:28they fall apart?
01:03:29Why?
01:03:29Because there was just a disconnect within the room.
01:03:32And I know with some reporters and some of the media members asking the kid, saying,
01:03:36hey, you know what?
01:03:37Why?
01:03:37How do you endear yourself to teammates more?
01:03:40I don't know if there's ever really an answer.
01:03:42I mean, you can go out and, you know, try to be the best player you can be.
01:03:45That's one way to do it.
01:03:47You know, personally speaking, I think another great way to do it is buying everybody pizza
01:03:52because, you know, who likes pizza?
