Aucun Français ne sera au rendez-vous des quarts de finale en simple à l'US Open. Dernier Tricolore encore en vie après l'élimination d'Adrian Mannarino, battu plus tôt ce dimanche par le Tchèque Jiri Lehecka, Arthur Rinderknech s'est logiquement incliné en trois manches contre le numéro 2 mondial Carlos Alcaraz (7-6 [3], 6-3, 6-4). D'abord au contact dans la première manche, où il n'a pas laissé la moindre occasion de breaker à l'Espagnol, le Breton de 30 ans a craqué dans le tie-break, laissant ainsi son adversaire faire la course en tête. En deuxième partie de rencontre, l'Espagnol, qui semblait en maîtrise, voire en contrôle à certains moments, s'est contenté de serrer le jeu en fin de manche pour breaker une fois dans chaque set son adversaire et s'imposer sans trembler, en trois manches. Rinderknech a tout de même réalisé une très belle semaine et gagnera près de 25 places dans une semaine pour se retrouver 57e mondial.
