00:00question, you know, we're talking about drugs here. It's just getting to the point where it's isolated, identifying exactly what drugs are there. That's in progress right now with the lab. Would it have been a legal, lethal dose? Hard to say. Hard to say. Not being a medical professional and not knowing specifics, you know, how different folks metabolize things. I really can't say whether it would be lethal or not.
00:30There was not a huge amount, and I know that's kind of a broad term there, but yeah, I mean, it wasn't, we're talking one pill per container. So, and I don't know what the milligrams come up to be or anything like that. Again, a lot of that stuff's going to depend on the lab findings.
00:51Just to confirm something you said earlier, you said you believe mysteriously stopped at sheets because paramedics were already present there?
01:00I believe so. So I believe, I believe the young ladies that are involved in this case, when they discovered the pills, they became very concerned and emotional. And I believe the 16 year old involved was driving.
01:16And right now it looks like that due to concerns, fear, panic, if you will, made the decision to pull in there.
01:29So we, we think that decision was probably made by the juveniles to go to the gas station since they saw an ambulance or paramedic vehicle there.
01:37So if Yokely is from Surry County, do you all know why he was out here in Wilmington?
01:46We believe, he has a residence here. Yeah. So I don't know about his residential status in Surry County, but we, we do know he's, he's a residence of New Hanover, or he is a resident of New Hanover County as well.
01:58We had heard, he's got a bit of a criminal history. Can y'all elaborate on that?
02:05I'm, I'm actually not familiar. I haven't run his criminal history. I'm not familiar with, with that.
02:11Have you spoke to the family or the girls?
02:16The girls were interviewed potentially for the case, yes.
02:19Okay. Yeah. So the females involved were up in interview.
02:22And did you cover the relationship of the girls, not necessarily being, I didn't, I didn't go deep into that.
02:33We're, so we know one juvenile is a step granddaughter.
02:38Well, at least he referred to him as granddaughter, but the other one's a friend of the granddaughter.
02:42Correct. Yeah.
02:45I don't know if you're able to elaborate. What did he have to say about this?
02:49Uh, I don't know, uh, myself and I can't, I can't find out and elaborate on that. Yeah.
02:59What else?
03:02The parents, have they said anything?
03:05Not that I'm aware of. Our investigators have been in contact with the family, um, and spoken to them.
03:11But again, that, that would be something in confidence between them.
03:15Um, so at the time that these two teenagers flagged down, um, you know, someone, did they have any inclination that it was their, potentially their grandfather?
03:23It didn't appear so initially.
03:24So when they, they went to the sheets because they saw the EMS vehicle there, it was actually the paramedics that flagged the officer down, um, in conjunction with the juveniles that were there.
03:34Uh, the officer happened to be in the area, uh, so it all kind of happened rapidly and quickly, but yeah.
03:42And did any of the girls express concerns, um, you know, if this, with his being in here, is this the first time that something like this has happened or did they feel any sort of way?
03:51At this time, we don't know. Um, and I can tell you based on what I've been informed or what I've been told is that the, um, the girls were very upset.
04:06Um, they were very upset, very concerned, panicked. Uh, and of course that was this incident.
04:11But as far as like indications of any other past baby or anything, uh, that I've, you know, I can't go into that if that's been expressed or not.
04:21And just anecdotally, I mean, this is kind of a wild case. I mean, have you ever seen anything like this before?
04:26Um, we've seen cases before where people have, have put, um, drugs in people's drinks or food. Um, I mean, yeah, it's, it's happened before and it does happen.
04:37Uh, just based on my experience, um, I, this is the first time that I know of where it's been like this kind of dynamic with a family member, but that's certainly not to say, you know, it's never happened before.
04:52That's just based on my experience. It's not an everyday occurrence. You know, typically when you think of people putting, uh, something in someone's drink, you know, you're, you're traditionally thinking downtown or, you know, a roofie, if you will, or something like that.
05:05And that could be a completely different scenario. But, uh, yeah, I mean, as far as in my experience, um, family member wise, it's the first I can think of as I'm standing up here, but it's again, certainly not to say it's never happened before.
05:21All right. That was a news conference there with Wilmington police, as they discussed the election official who is now charged in connection to a situation that developed earlier on this month, as some pills were found inside children's ice cream.
05:36And investigators say it was actually their grandfather who put ecstasy and cocaine in the ice cream. Uh, those children did not ingest that. So that is definitely good news. But now the suspect does face several charges.
05:50We are following some breaking news coming in from the FBI right now. I do want to pop this up on your screen. This is the deputy director, Dan Bongino. And I want to read this for you. This is a portion of what he just posted on social media, but he also provided details. So we'll go into that as well. But he said another update for you on your FBI's operation, summer heat and our work to crush violent crime.
06:13The FBI and our partners have arrested 220 violent offenders just this week, bringing our total to over 5700 since the operation began in June. We're seeing real results against violent offenders and we're not slowing down. That's the portion there on your screen. But he also provided a little bit more information about the arrest saying great work on an FBI Detroit investigation with coordination from others in Jacksonville, Charlotte,
06:43Houston, Houston, Tampa, Houston, Tampa and St. Louis to disrupt a large labor trafficking ring to self profess religious leaders who are accused of using physical and psychological abuse to coerce victims to solicit tens of millions of dollars in donations were federally charged and arrested this week. The investigation will no doubt save many victims from further abuse. In San Antonio, a man was arrested for making threats against a member of the federal
07:13government and government and their family. We will not stand for people making these kinds of dangerous calls and instilling fear in people. Those who think they can hide need to know we will find you. Tampa worked with our homeland security partners to get a suspect into custody who assaulted an ERO and SHI agent then took off running. Thankfully, the agents will recover from their injuries and an anchorage investigation led to the arrest of a man and woman for conspiring
07:43to maintain a drug involved premise at a hotel in Anchorage. It's alleged the suspects use the hotel to store and distribute drugs directed people looking to buy drugs to their dealers living on the premises and controlled who was allowed to visit that hotel. Bongino says those are just a few of the highlights. We continue to remove dangerous drugs from the streets.
08:13That's a D.C.-based drug trafficking organization that sold PCP and fentanyl. We also seized several firearms, including one AR style rifle, a shotgun and one Draco style pistol. Through this initiative, the FBI and our partners have disrupted 290 networks, seized a combined 24,900 kilos of fentanyl and cocaine and have continued to keep communities safe. That's your FBI at its finest. God bless America and all those
08:43who defend her. Again, that information here coming in moments ago from FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino. We are going to step away for a quick two minute commercial break now at 1212 on the East Coast and 912 on the West Coast. You're watching live now from Fox. Much more to come.

11:25My name is Josh Breslow, and I'm here to bring you all of your top stories and live events from across the country and across the world.
11:33Our next story does take us over to Florida.
11:36That is where we continue to follow the latest developments here out of the Largo area.
11:40Here's what we know. A University of Miami football player now charged in a crash that killed three people in Largo.
11:48Largo police say Adarius Hayes, 20 years old, who you see on your screen there, a linebacker for the Miami Hurricanes, turned himself in Friday.
11:56He's charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and one count of reckless driving with serious injuries.
12:03Investigators say Hayes was speeding and weaving through traffic in a Dodge Durango back on May 10th when he slammed into a Kia Soul at Ridge Road and Orange View Drive in Largo.
12:14If you're familiar with the area, three people all died, and another person, a 58-year-old, suffered serious injuries during the crash.
12:23We do know that the boy's father was sitting in the front passenger seat, and he was the one who suffered that injury there in the crash.
12:31Now, we did actually hear from our Fox 13 Tampa team as they broke down all of the latest details.
12:38I mean, you have the death of three innocent people that were just driving, traveling on the roadways.
12:43So, yes, they're very serious charges.
12:46Police just charged University of Miami football player Adarius Hayes with three counts of vehicular homicide
12:52and one count of reckless driving with serious bodily injury.
12:56It stems from a crash that killed three people in May in Largo.
13:01Hayes made a rapid and dangerous maneuver, changing lanes from the curb lane to the median lane,
13:07crossing three lanes of traffic while overtaking other vehicles.
13:11Moments later, Hayes abruptly re-entered the curb lane, again crossing three lanes without signaling.
13:18At a point, Hayes' vehicle collided with the Kia Soul driven by Ms. Price,
13:22which was lawfully executing a left-hand turn west on the Orange View Drive.
13:2778-year-old Gail Price, 10-year-old Jabari, and 4-year-old Charlie died.
13:32The boy's dad, Herbert Rivera, who was in the front passenger seat, had serious injuries but survived.
13:39Friends say they just picked up a birthday cake for one of the boys and were just 50 feet from home.
13:46Search warrants were obtained for the vehicles, the one vehicle that had dodged Durango to obtain effectively the black box for the car
13:55to give us information on how far the rate of speed the vehicle, the rate of acceleration, deceleration.
14:01Largo Police Chief Mike Lauchs says Hayes accelerated to nearly 80 miles an hour in a 40-mile-per-hour speed zone
14:08just one second before hitting the Kia Soul.
14:11He says investigators also relied on witness interviews and nearby surveillance video to determine what happened.
14:20A big thank you there to our Fox 13 Tampa team.
14:23They have been covering this story from the get-go.
14:26As you saw in the story, Largo Police did hold a news conference there in Florida
14:30as they broke down some of the latest details.
14:33Now, that news conference was very short, but I do want to play those remarks here.
14:37I don't know.
