00:00Ono Stage 7 de la Vuelta,
00:03Heading from Andorra la Vella
00:04To Sealea, Huesca la Magia
00:06It's another big day in the mountains
00:08With more than 4,000 metres of climbing
00:10And it's going to be a special one
00:12For Tourstone Train
00:14As he enjoys his first day
00:15As the leader of a Grand Tour
00:17It still feels a bit unrealistic
00:21To be honest
00:22So yeah, I'm looking forward to today
00:25There's really a lot of good guys here
00:27There's really good GC guys
00:29So it will always also be fun
00:31To see how you are compared to the other guys
00:34This is more like a bonus
00:36And then we just have to see
00:38How it's going with me today
00:39Visma Lisebike admitted
00:42They were perfectly happy
00:43To lose the red jersey yesterday
00:45Jonas Vingegaard has apparently decided
00:47That defence is the best form of attack
00:49For sure today will be a super hard stage
00:54But the last climb
00:56Is also a bit of a weird climb
00:58If you can say that
00:59So I think we'll more see
01:02What the other teams will do
01:03And then we'll make a decision
01:05On what we'll do ourselves from there
01:07If the GC favourites continue
01:10To mark each other
01:11There could be more chances
01:13For the breakaway
01:14Jay Vine's solo victory yesterday
01:16Has certainly given others belief
01:18That they can follow in his footsteps
01:20It kind of gives people a bit more of a sense of hope
01:25You know
01:26So you think
01:26Oh okay
01:27Well
01:27They're not going to chase everything down
01:29Because a team like Jumbo
01:32They probably could have won yesterday
01:33But if they're not going to
01:36If you can see on a day
01:37That was maybe not so hard to control yesterday
01:40That they let it go
01:41Then I think there should be
01:43Plenty more opportunities
01:45Stage 7 features four climbs
01:53With the Category 1 Port del Canto
01:55Starting after just 13km
01:57That should thin out the bunch
01:58And help a breakaway to form
02:00The riders will then head over two Cat 2 climbs
02:03Before the final hike up Huesca La Magia
02:0512km at just under 6%
02:08With passages at 14%
02:10It's not a day for the faint of heart
02:12And the red flag is waved
02:19Stage 7 is officially underway here
02:21At La Vuelta
02:22From Andorra La Vella
02:23To Thela Huesca La Magia
02:26The second mountain test
02:27Of this first week
02:28Well shortly after leaving Andorra
02:32The riders hit the lower slopes
02:33Of the Port del Canto
02:35A long but fairly shallow climb
02:36Of almost 25km
02:38And the first man to make a meaningful attack
02:41Was Juan Ayuso
02:42The Spaniard keen to hit back
02:44After dropping out of GC contention yesterday
02:47Well lots of riders tried to counter
02:49And even if the peloton was never more than about
02:5120 seconds behind
02:53Nobody managed to bridge up to the Spaniards
02:56Yesterday stage winner Jay Vine
02:58Was also looking lively in the polka dot jersey
03:00Making several attempts to join his team mate
03:03Ayuso at the fronts
03:04In the final kilometres of the climb
03:06Mads Pedersen also tried his luck
03:09The green jersey closing on Ayuso
03:11Before the summits
03:12Well the Spaniard went over the top on his own
03:17But he would be caught by a chase group at the start of the descents
03:20Ayuso and Pedersen joined by Vine and Raul Garcia-Pierna
03:26Who was already on the attack yesterday
03:28Plus other strong climbers like Sean Quinn
03:31Harold Tejada
03:32Kevin Vermarca
03:33Marco Frigo
03:34Joel Nicolau
03:35And Eduardo Sepulveda
03:37But would they get a shot at the stage?
03:40The average speed over 43km an hour for the first two hours
03:44But the peloton began to ease off
03:46And let the gap open up
03:47The 12 breakaway riders increasing their lead
03:50To over three minutes
03:51And they continued to pull away as they approached the next climb
03:59The Crayo de Perves
04:00Bahrain victorious increasing the tempo in the peloton on behalf of Train
04:05To ensure that Garcia-Pierna
04:06The best placed man at the front
04:08Didn't snaffle the red jersey
04:10The Spaniard began the day 4 minutes 57 down
04:13But the gap was back to under four minutes
04:16As the break embarked on the second climb
04:18The polka dot contenders setting themselves for an uphill sprint
04:21With Nicolau the first to strike
04:23But here he goes
04:25He's going to try and go early
04:27And try and get the jump on Jay Vine
04:29Who is the leader in that competition
04:31And it's the Spanish rider of Cajarral Seguras RGA
04:34Who wants to try and add another five points to his tally
04:38Can he try and hold off the charge from Jay Vine and Sean Quinn
04:43Oh it's going to be close on the line
04:45Jay Vine crosses the line
04:47He takes the five points
04:48Three points to João Nicolau
04:50The race entering the region of Aragon
04:54And by now it was clear that the breakaway would go all the way
04:57Vine didn't take any risks on the next climb
05:00La Espina
05:01Going early to ensure maximum points at the top
05:04Whatever happened on the last climb
05:06He would finish the day in the polka dots
05:08Pedersen meanwhile was closing on his big goal of the stage
05:16The intermediate sprint
05:17Which would help him to tighten his grip on that green jersey
05:20Well even if Vine and Ayuso appeared to be the clear favourites in this breakaway
05:27They kept working together nicely
05:29To maintain their comfortable lead over the peloton
05:32Well one of the 12 wasn't thinking about the stage win and that was Pedersen who just wanted those 20 points at the intermediate sprint
05:39Bidane even anticipating to make sure there were no surprises and he would soon say goodbye
05:48Ayuso then made his move on the final climb
05:51The Spaniard determined to put yesterday firmly behind him as he tried to go clear
05:57Well Marco Frigo followed the first attack but not the second
06:01Ayuso in a league of his own with Frigo soon 30 seconds adrift
06:05The Italian was joined by Garcia Piana but there wasn't much that they could do to catch Ayuso
06:11Back in the peloton meanwhile
06:13A Visma Lisa bike had taken control just keeping an eye on things for Vingegaard
06:17But UAE soon replaced them up at the front with Marc Soler apparently setting something up for Joao Almeida
06:29From the GC favourites here behind Joao Almeida is trying to break his rivals
06:37Ayuso closing on his 15th career win
06:40While there was ultimately a stalemate in the GC group with Torstein train still up there and set to keep red
06:46The day though belonged to Joao Almeida
06:51He can celebrate, he can realise what he's just achieved
06:55The man from Barcelona, the 22 year old Spanish rider, Joao Almeida
06:59Pro victory number 15
07:09What a difference a day makes
07:11After losing more than 7 minutes to the GC group yesterday
07:15Ayuso roared back today to win his first Vuelta stage and that is now three in a row for UAE
07:20It's amazing after the Gio when I won my first Grand Tour stage to win a stage here in La Vuelta
07:29Which for me is my favourite race
07:31The way especially I won it today is something I think I will remember always and I'm just super proud
07:37Ayuso winning by over a minute from the rest of the breakaway who were led in by Frigo
07:44While the GC favourites crossed the line at 2 minutes and 35 seconds
07:50Train did a solid job to stay with the big guns
07:52He now leads Vingegaard by 2 minutes 33 and he's likely to take the red jersey into the second week
08:01Pedersen went 174 kilometres into a mountain stage to boost his lead in the points classification
08:07A mammoth effort today from the Dane
08:10Well Vine also put a lot of energy into defending his polka-dock jersey
08:14The Australian is 11 points clear of Luis Vefaca with Ayuso up to third
08:20Giulio Pellizzari also finished with the GC group
08:23And stays in white ahead of Matthew Riccitello with Garcia Pierna climbing to third
08:28After two days in the mountains the riders will be able to catch their breath tomorrow with the sprint stage to Zaragoza
08:33Join us for that on Saturday
08:35And thanks for watching
