Israeli military calls Gaza City evacuation 'inevitable'

Aid groups have warned that an expanded military offensive could worsen the humanitarian crisis in the territory, where most of its over 2 million residents are displaced.

00:01Israel's military said on Wednesday that the evacuation of Gaza City is inevitable as the country prepares for a military offensive to occupy the city.
00:10The IDF's Arabic language spokesperson Avichai Adraei advised residents of the city in the north of the enclave to listen to instructions and vacate the area.
00:19Adraei added that Israeli forces had surveyed vast empty areas south of Gaza City to assist the evacuating residents as much as possible.
00:27He also noted that the displaced would receive tents to reside in and pledge to set up infrastructure for the distribution of aid and water,
00:36adding that those who voluntarily depart the city and not obstruct Israel's imminent offensive would receive, quote,
00:42the most generous quantities of humanitarian aid.
00:45Aid groups have warned, however, that an expanded military offensive could worsen an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
