Macaques (Macaca spp.) are highly adaptable monkeys found across Asia, North Africa, and Gibraltar. They live in diverse habitats ranging from forests and mountains to cities, often thriving near humans. Social and intelligent, macaques live in large groups with complex hierarchies. They are omnivores, feeding on fruits, leaves, seeds, insects, and small animals. Some species, like the Japanese snow monkeys, are famous for bathing in hot springs.
