00:04:41Hi, Tom.
00:04:57I never would have dreamed that the next time you and I would see each other, that you
00:05:04would be the innkeeper, and I would be the paying guest.
00:05:08If you feel uncomfortable about it, you can always stay at Frank's.
00:05:11He's got a place near the orchard.
00:05:13It's fine by me.
00:05:14I mean, if it's okay with you.
00:05:16Yeah.
00:05:17I think we're both adults and have to handle it.
00:05:20Good.
00:05:21Come in.
00:05:36Tom?
00:05:37Oh, yeah, sure.
00:05:39Thanks.
00:05:40You're our only customer while the bridge is out, so you've pretty much got the run
00:05:43of the place.
00:05:44Except for Kim.
00:05:47Very nice.
00:05:52The place looks good.
00:05:54You've changed the place a lot.
00:06:01But you haven't changed.
00:06:02If that's supposed to be a compliment, you missed by a mile.
00:06:10Well, it is, and you look great.
00:06:12I'm not the complacent little butterfly I was when you and I were an item.
00:06:15Complacent?
00:06:16When Sally died, I not only lost my sister-in-law, I lost my best friend.
00:06:22Yeah, I know.
00:06:23It must have been hard.
00:06:24Yeah, it still is.
00:06:25I mean, I'm the designated mother for Kim now.
00:06:28She's going through a difficult age, and I just take it one day at a time.
00:06:35So what's it like changing your home into a bed and breakfast?
00:06:38What's it like being divorced but still living with your ex-wife?
00:06:42Heidi, I don't live there.
00:06:45I just haven't moved my stuff out.
00:06:47It's nothing personal.
00:06:49I'm just telling you what it's like to turn your home into a B&B.
00:06:53We serve a light dinner early at 6.
00:06:56Well, thanks, but Thurman and I will be tied up.
00:06:59We have a lot of catching up today.
00:07:01Okay.
00:07:02And tell Thurman I said hello.
00:07:06You betcha.
00:07:09An old friend had asked me back to give a talk about meteorites.
00:07:13He hadn't warned me that they had become such a controversial subject.
00:07:17Somebody's fooling around in that orchard at night, Thurman.
00:07:20Hell, Ed, I'm the county agent, not the sheriff.
00:07:23Look, I got a crop I gotta get in.
00:07:25Now, something's gotta be done about this.
00:07:27All right, but even if there are people out there, what harm can they be doing?
00:07:30What harm can they be doing? I can't believe you're saying...
00:07:32Tom!
00:07:33Hi, Thurman.
00:07:34I was worried you weren't gonna get here before the bridge closed.
00:07:36You're looking good. You're looking good, Ed. How are you?
00:07:40I was just trying to tell Thurman here, you fellas ought to stop stirring up these meteorite nuts.
00:07:45All we're doing is asking people to keep a lookout for any, uh, unusual stones, Ed.
00:07:49Yeah, and three nights in a row, I got lights out in one of my orchards.
00:07:53A damn bunch of rock collectors.
00:07:55What's the problem with that, Ed?
00:07:56Ever since Thurman found this little old rock with flames at the meteorite,
00:08:01I got people tramping around my orchards.
00:08:03All right, Ed, you're just drinking too much of that homemade hard cider.
00:08:07You're just imagining things.
00:08:09I'm gonna be laying for him till I catch him.
00:08:15Go see who's imagining things.
00:08:21It had surprised me when... when Ed didn't shake hands.
00:08:26The only person that I'd expected that from was Brad Yates.
00:08:30We'd always been competitors.
00:08:33He was a deputy sheriff now.
00:08:36And still chasing Heidi.
00:08:39What's the matter? This isn't like you, Kim.
00:08:45There's nothing wrong with me. It's Mrs. Santiago who's weird.
00:08:49Please, make her go away.
00:08:51Kimmy.
00:08:52I can't stand to be around her.
00:08:54Now, that's enough, Kim. She's gonna hear you.
00:08:57She doesn't have to. She reads my mind.
00:09:00So, how are you going to get some clues to the news?
00:09:02No, I don't have to.
00:09:03I'm sorry, Kim.
00:09:05Okay.
00:09:06No, I got it.
00:09:07I didn't want to get some clues.
00:09:08I did not want to get some clues.
00:09:09I didn't want to get you to get some clues.
00:09:11This is the book.
00:09:12Okay, I didn't want to get you to get some clues,
00:09:13Your dream, I didn't want to get some clues to go.
00:09:14I don't want to get some clues.
00:09:15What's the matter?
00:09:16What's the matter?
00:09:17This isn't like you, Kim?
00:09:18I'll videotape her when she doesn't know it.
00:09:23You'll see.
00:09:25Just let her know in a few minutes, Frank.
00:09:27Maybe she's finally dealing with Sally's death.
00:09:30After five years.
00:09:32She's a child, Frank.
00:09:35Sheriff Yates is here.
00:09:36No, no, not yet.
00:09:38Still just a deputy.
00:09:39Hey, Frank.
00:09:40Hello, Brad.
00:09:41Well, I got an orchard to irrigate.
00:09:45And don't worry about Kim, Frank.
00:09:46I'll help her work it out.
00:09:47All right. Dependent on you, sis.
00:09:49As always.
00:09:51See you later, Brad.
00:09:53Take care, Frank.
00:09:59Kim got some kind of problem?
00:10:00Yeah, she's just going through a difficult age.
00:10:03How's it going with the bridge?
00:10:05Okay.
00:10:06I ran in Tom Baines out there today.
00:10:11I told you he was coming in for a couple days
00:10:13to hunt meteorites with Thurman.
00:10:15Yeah, but you didn't tell me he was going to stay in here.
00:10:19You can always tell me you're about ready to take a stupid pill.
00:10:21Have I said anything?
00:10:23What's the big deal about Tom staying here?
00:10:25This is a bed and breakfast.
00:10:27That's what I do.
00:10:27I rent rooms and I provide meals.
00:10:30Look, what am I supposed to do?
00:10:31Am I supposed to be tickled pink to find out
00:10:34that your old boyfriend's going to be running around here in his shorts?
00:10:36You're right.
00:10:41I'm sorry.
00:10:45Cookie?
00:10:45Cookie?
00:13:23Hello.
00:13:27This is Frank.
00:13:29Frank.
00:13:30This is Thurman.
00:13:31Got a minute?
00:13:33Hello, Frank?
00:13:35Frank, you hear me?
00:13:37Can't believe it.
00:13:41Frank's pissed at me, too.
00:13:43You see, I didn't know it yet, but they were already there.
00:13:51I mean, did I get them all?
00:13:53I mean, what about Heidi?
00:13:55And Brad and Kim?
00:13:57I mean, what are you doing to make sure I got all of them?
00:14:01Here, let me make you more comfortable.
00:14:05Lift your head.
00:14:07Good.
00:14:09Now just try to remember.
00:14:11Oh, I remember.
00:14:13I remember everything.
00:14:15What about Doc Roller?
00:14:17Did Thurman take you to see him?
00:14:19No, I didn't know about Doc then.
00:14:23Not at first.
00:14:25How's it going, Winette?
00:14:27Hey, Brad.
00:14:28Listen.
00:14:29I wanted to talk to you about Doc Roller.
00:14:31Oh, yeah?
00:14:32About what?
00:14:33Well, he tried to buy a case of whiskey for me last night.
00:14:35Now, I wouldn't sell him but two-fifths, and he gave me quite an earful.
00:14:39You did the right thing.
00:14:40I'll keep an eye out for him.
00:14:41Thanks, Brad.
00:14:42You keep an eye on my liquor store.
00:14:44You bet.
00:14:45All right.
00:14:46You have a good time.
00:14:47Bye-bye.
00:14:48Bye-bye.
00:15:09Central, this is substation 14.
00:15:168 a.m.
00:15:17Comm check over.
00:15:18Substation 14.
00:15:19This is Central.
00:15:20Is that you, Brad?
00:15:21Nope.
00:15:22This is Fraser.
00:15:23Uh, Deputy Yates just arrived, if you'd like to speak with him.
00:15:26Negative.
00:15:27Tell him just because the bridge is closed, it doesn't mean he's authorized to stay shacked
00:15:31up with his girlfriend.
00:15:34That's a big roger, and Deputy Yates sends his respects to you, too.
00:15:38Roger that.
00:15:39Central out.
00:15:40So you came up here when you were a kid?
00:15:41Yeah, whenever I could get some pretty little senior reader to come up here with me.
00:15:46Wow, what memories.
00:15:51Wow.
00:15:52Five or six hundred years ago, some Indian stood right here with a stick, a bit of iron oxide
00:15:58and pitch, and drew the damnedest thing that he ever saw in his life.
00:16:04Do you think that Indian saw a comet sailing somewhere out in space?
00:16:05Well, I think what we're looking at here is an eyewitness drawing of some major, major meteorfall.
00:16:11Almost everybody in Comet Valley was acting a bit weird.
00:16:12I didn't think that much about it until the incident with Kim.
00:16:17I was in my room putting together some slides for a talk I was giving to the fireball club that night.
00:16:24I was in my room putting together some slides for a talk I was giving to the fireball club that night.
00:16:37I was in my room putting together some slides for a talk I was giving to the fireball club that night.
00:17:07I was giving to the fireball club that night.
00:17:20Kimmy!
00:17:28Kimmy!
00:17:31Supper!
00:17:33Supper time!
00:17:37I'm not.
00:17:38I'm not.
00:17:39I'm not.
00:17:40I'm not.
00:17:41I'm not.
00:17:42I'm not.
00:17:43I'm not.
00:17:44I'm not.
00:17:45I'm not.
00:17:46I'm not.
00:17:47I'm not.
00:17:48I'm not.
00:17:49I'm not.
00:17:50I'm not.
00:17:51I'm not.
00:17:52I'm not.
00:17:53I'm not.
00:17:54I'm not.
00:17:55I'm not.
00:17:56I'm not.
00:17:57I'm not.
00:17:58I'm not.
00:17:59I'm not.
00:18:00I'm not.
00:18:01I'm not.
00:18:02I'm not.
00:18:03I'm not.
00:18:04I'm not.
00:18:05I'm not.
00:18:06Elodie! Elodie! Elodie! Elodie, what is the matter?
00:18:15Kim, what's the matter?
00:18:19Kim!
00:18:25Can I be of any help?
00:18:27A couple of days ago, Kim starts this thing about Mrs. Santiago being possessed.
00:18:32Possessed? Possessed by what? I mean, what are we dealing with here?
00:18:35The rebels? The exorcists?
00:18:37I don't know. I told her to go back home with Frank this morning,
00:18:39but no, she can't do that because he's not really her father anymore.
00:18:42He's one of them, too.
00:18:44Heidi.
00:18:54You're paying guests, remember?
00:18:59You know, I went up to Indian Canyon today.
00:19:03Reminded me of when we used to go back there.
00:19:07It's all over now, Tom.
00:19:12Okay.
00:19:14And if we're gonna clear the air, why don't you tell me something?
00:19:19Why haven't you and Brad gotten married?
00:19:21Because I'm still waiting for him to get his head out of his ass?
00:19:23Because I'm still waiting for him to get his head out of his ass?
00:19:51Damn it. Frank's left the irrigation system off.
00:20:02What the heck is that?
00:20:03What in the ding-dong heck of my doodle hell is that?
00:20:19Looks like these two blossoms have already gone to seed.
00:20:37How about this one, Ed? It's pollinated.
00:20:39It's pollinating.
00:20:47Ow!
00:20:48What?
00:20:57Ow!
00:20:58Aw!
00:20:59Aw!
00:21:00Aw!
00:21:01Aw!
00:21:02Aw!
00:21:03Aw!
00:21:04Aw!
00:21:05Aw!
00:21:06You see, I still didn't know what was going on.
00:21:22I didn't have a clue.
00:21:25Nobody did.
00:21:27It wouldn't have mattered much anyhow, though,
00:21:28because the bridge closed at sundown.
00:21:31We were trapped.
00:21:33What about Doc Roller, Tom?
00:21:35Did you see him at the fireball club when you were giving your talk?
00:21:40No.
00:21:41No, Thurman hadn't invited Doc.
00:21:43He felt there was too much skepticism about the meteorites anyhow,
00:21:47and that if people thought that Doc was involved with us,
00:21:50it would be even harder to get their cooperation.
00:21:56Doc had the reputation of being the town nut.
00:22:00Nobody considered him dangerous.
00:22:02Everyone figured he was just a harmless old oddball.
00:22:14Oh, no.
00:22:15No, don't.
00:22:16No, don't.
00:22:16No, it's in closing.
00:22:18No, it's in closing.
00:22:18That's right.
00:22:24We'll see it, too.
00:22:27Yeah, this is a bit of a water out of the way by.
00:22:30Yeah.
00:22:30That's right.
00:22:31Yeah.
00:22:32Yeah.
00:22:32Hi, everybody.
00:22:34Well, let's see.
00:22:35I think I've had a chance to say hello to everybody,
00:22:38but if not, I'm Tom Baines,
00:22:39and thank you very much for having me.
00:22:42It's always been assumed that this local rock drawing depicts a comet,
00:23:10which is, of course, how we got our name here, Comet Valley.
00:23:13When a meteoroid comes into Earth's gravity field,
00:23:18it's usually destroyed by the atmosphere,
00:23:21and those who survive the plunge to Earth are called meteorites.
00:23:24Now, this is a picture of the meteorite Thurman found about a mile from here.
00:23:32Oh!
00:23:48Oh!
00:23:48Whoa!
00:23:50Whoa!
00:23:51Oh!
00:23:52Whoa!
00:23:56Oh!
00:23:57Oh!
00:23:57Oh!
00:23:58Oh!
00:24:00Oh!
00:24:01Oh, my God.
00:24:31Which is why we believe that there may be more stones like this in the valley.
00:24:36And it's possible that what we've always assumed was a comet and the pictograph is actually a meteorite.
00:24:43And that it may be out there for one of us to find.
00:24:46You know, I'm Bert Mosley.
00:24:50I didn't want to say anything in there.
00:24:52I don't want people to think I've gone crackpot.
00:24:55We've already got one crackpot in the Comet Valley.
00:24:57Got what, Bert?
00:24:59I got a funny rock I want you to take a look at.
00:25:04I was digging a trench with a backhoe the other day.
00:25:08Uh-huh.
00:25:09Getting ready to lay some irrigation pipe.
00:25:11Yeah.
00:25:12And the blade hit something hard.
00:25:14And I climbed down to take a look.
00:25:17And here's what I found.
00:25:22What do you think?
00:25:27Well, I have never seen anything like this, my friend.
00:25:29Never.
00:25:30What do you say we pull her out of here and take her over to Thurman's warehouse so I can run some test on it and get a little better look at it?
00:25:36Sure, whatever you want to do.
00:25:37You think it looks like a meteorite?
00:25:39Yes, sir, I sure do.
00:25:41I sure do.
00:25:43And even better than that, you see the sediment that she's stuck in here, I can pull this and do a carbon date on it.
00:25:48Yeah.
00:25:49Then I'll be able to tell when she fell to Earth.
00:25:51If it was about four or five hundred years ago, you may have the rock in the pictograph there, my friend.
00:25:58This might be the Comet Valley meteorite.
00:26:01Yeah.
00:26:02Yeah.
00:26:03Com check.
00:26:08Com check.
00:26:13Com check.
00:26:17Guess what?
00:26:25I don't know.
00:26:26What?
00:26:27Something tripped the breaking of the substation again.
00:26:30Something great.
00:26:32So, uh, how about I just go into the house after I reset him?
00:26:36Yeah, that'll be all right.
00:26:38You haven't seen Thurman anywhere, have you?
00:26:40No.
00:26:41Why, you want to check on his house?
00:26:43No, I just came from there.
00:26:45Well, I'll patrol around a little before I hit the side.
00:26:47Yeah, fine.
00:26:48I think I'll just stretch out here for a minute.
00:26:50Give me a call when you get home, will you?
00:26:52OK.
00:26:53OK.
00:26:55Let me see.
00:26:55I'll go.
00:26:56I'll be waiting for you.
00:26:57Sorry.
00:26:58But then, I can't wait for you.
00:26:59I'll be waiting.
00:27:00Let me see.
00:27:01Look at the elevator.
00:27:02I'll wait.
00:27:03I'll wait.
00:27:04See?
00:27:05I'll wait for you.
00:27:06I'll wait for you.
00:27:07I'll wait.
00:27:08I'll wait for you.
00:27:09you
00:27:30you crazy old fool what are you doing
00:27:32you don't understand
00:27:35i'm gonna suck them
00:27:37Give me the hatchet, Doc.
00:27:39Now, stay back.
00:27:40You may be one of them.
00:27:50God damn it!
00:28:07See you.
00:28:29So brush all this out in here, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
00:28:32Yeah.
00:28:34Yeah.
00:28:35So what do you think?
00:28:36It looks like a peach pit.
00:28:39It does, doesn't it?
00:28:41Thurman is going to be surprised when he finally shows up.
00:28:45But Mrs. Saniago killed him.
00:28:47Kim.
00:28:48She hypnotized dad, too.
00:28:50You promised that if I made Mrs. Saniago take a week off,
00:28:53you'd stop this nonsense.
00:28:54She hasn't left yet.
00:28:57Tom's going to think that everybody in Common Valley is crazy.
00:28:59Well, not Kim.
00:29:02Here, look at you this.
00:29:06You're a pretty cool guy, Tom.
00:29:10You're pretty cool yourself, too, you know?
00:29:13What smile of yours lights up the whole room like your Aunt Heidi?
00:29:17We better get going.
00:29:23Thanks for letting me see it.
00:29:24Thanks for letting me see it.
00:29:25You betcha.
00:29:26Bye.
00:29:27Mm-hmm.
00:29:28See ya.
00:29:29Bye.
00:29:30Thanks.
00:29:31Heidi.
00:29:40Heidi.
00:29:41I meant it when I said that your smile lights up the room.
00:29:45Tom.
00:29:58I know that...
00:30:03He's P.O.
00:30:08Brad, what's wrong?
00:30:11Thurman's dead.
00:30:14Hit and run.
00:30:18And I know the son of a bitch that did it, too.
00:30:21There's only one vehicle in Common Valley with hubcaps like these.
00:30:25And it belongs to Doc Rohr.
00:30:28Oh, my God.
00:30:30I can handle it.
00:30:32You've got big problems.
00:30:35I sent Frazier over to check the relay switches.
00:30:37I don't know where the hell the guy is.
00:30:40He said he'd call me.
00:30:42I'll run over to the substation and check on it, Brad.
00:30:46That's all right, Tom.
00:30:47I can handle it by myself.
00:30:49I was just about to say how handy I am with electrical stuff.
00:30:52No, Tom.
00:30:53I can handle it.
00:31:07I can handle it.
00:31:26I can handle it.
00:31:37Tom? Are you all right?
00:31:57Tom? Are you hurt?
00:32:01No. I'm okay.
00:32:04Something strange.
00:32:05Mr. Santiago.
00:32:07There's something the matter, Mr. Baines.
00:32:12Tom, what happened?
00:32:15I don't know.
00:32:20I'll have to let you know when I figure it out.
00:32:22It's not what you thought it would be, is it, huh?
00:32:36Oh, you can't imagine.
00:32:39You can't begin to imagine.
00:32:41Okay, take it easy. Just take it back.
00:32:43Come on.
00:32:45I'm bulletproof.
00:32:47They can't get me.
00:32:48None of them can get at me.
00:32:51You're one of them, I bet.
00:32:54Whose side are you on?
00:32:55Are you on the side of science?
00:32:56All right, why don't you just put the gun down and we'll talk about it, okay?
00:33:01It's Doc, isn't it?
00:33:02J. Bell Roller.
00:33:04PhD.
00:33:08Propagator emeritus of planet Earth.
00:33:11The question is, are you one of them or one of us?
00:33:21I suppose you don't know that what you were examining is not mineral.
00:33:27So why don't you tell me what it is then, Doc?
00:33:28This was the goal of the leaf and the root.
00:33:37This little grain is the ultimate fruit.
00:33:41For this did the blossom burn its hour.
00:33:47This is the awesome vessel of power.
00:33:56I'll tell you what it is.
00:33:58It is Testa.
00:34:01And where there is Testa, there is a seed.
00:34:07He's looking for me, you know.
00:34:11Yeah, I know.
00:34:12All he wants to do is talk to you about Thurman, Doc.
00:34:17Yes, yes, of course.
00:34:22Go and fetch the deputy.
00:34:24We'll do that.
00:34:26We will talk about Thurman.
00:34:28He wants the gun.
00:34:30Just take it easy.
00:34:31Go on him!
00:34:32He wants the gun.
00:34:32He wants the gun.
00:34:33He wants the gun.
00:34:33He wants the gun.
00:34:33He wants the gun.
00:34:33He wants the gun.
00:34:37He wants the gun.
00:34:38He wants the gun.
00:34:39He wants the gun.
00:34:42He's inside.
00:34:44What?
00:34:48Doc Roller.
00:34:51He's got a gun.
00:34:53Brad, just give him a chance to come out.
00:35:00You stay the hell out of this, Tom.
00:35:02You're on my turf now.
00:35:15Nice work, Tom.
00:35:16You let him get away.
00:35:18He indicated he was giving up, Brad, and he asked me to come get you.
00:35:23Giving up?
00:35:24Is that why completely demolished the communications gear at the substation?
00:35:28I don't know what you're talking about.
00:35:29Found Frazier's patrol car, too.
00:35:31No, Frazier!
00:35:32He may have murdered a police officer, and you let him walk out of here!
00:35:36Oh, so what was I supposed to do?
00:35:37Eat the gun and throw him over my shoulder?
00:35:39I don't know, Tom.
00:35:40You're the guy that went to college.
00:35:42You should have been smart enough to think of something.
00:35:48Bert Mosley had a big greenhouse operation near Heidi's place.
00:35:53I knew that Doc Roller and Bert had worked together,
00:35:56so I went up there to see if Bert could help me find him.
00:36:08Howdy, Bert.
00:36:10Got a minute?
00:36:13Phones are out.
00:36:14None of my workers showed up.
00:36:17I'm busy wearing a one-legged man at an ass-kicking contest.
00:36:21Yeah, I can see that.
00:36:23Listen, I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to Doc Roller's place.
00:36:26Yeah, just follow this road on up to the top of the canyon.
00:36:29You can't miss it.
00:36:31What about my meteorite?
00:36:34Well, I'm going to have to do some more tests on that at the university.
00:36:37Why are you looking for Doc?
00:36:38Doc, you heard about Thurman, didn't you?
00:36:41Yeah, I did.
00:36:43You think Doc could have done that?
00:36:47Come on inside here.
00:36:48I've got to spray herbicide before it gets dark.
00:36:54Here's what I think.
00:36:57Doc didn't do it.
00:36:58Not on purpose, anyhow.
00:36:59Well, you know, they say you've been drinking.
00:37:02Doc's been drinking a little lately, it's true.
00:37:05But drunk or not, he wouldn't leave a little Thurman laying in the road.
00:37:09Sounds like you know Doc pretty well, huh?
00:37:17Sure.
00:37:19He and I used to do experiments propagating stuff under ultraviolet lights.
00:37:22Watch out around that stuff, Tom.
00:37:24Stronger than five kinds of monkey piss.
00:37:28You trying to help him catch Doc?
00:37:30Tell you the truth, I want to talk to him about your meteorite.
00:37:37Well, you won't find him up at his lab.
00:37:39I was up there earlier.
00:37:42One more thing about Doc Roller.
00:37:44He may talk crazy.
00:37:47But that don't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about.
00:37:49Noored.
00:37:57Come on.
00:38:00Come on.
00:38:02You're a thief.
00:38:08Now, let's go.
00:38:10Let's go.
00:38:18I waited until after dark before I went to Doc's place.
00:38:33I didn't find Doc, but I found his lab.
00:38:36The whole place was lit with ultraviolet light,
00:38:40and that's when I realized Birch Meteorite wasn't the only one.
00:38:48All right.
00:39:18Let's go.
00:39:48Let's go.
00:40:18Let's go.
00:40:48Oh, my God.
00:41:08Let's go.
00:41:38Today I haven't done it.
00:42:01Let's go.
00:42:02Let's go.
00:42:03Let's go.
00:42:07Let's go.
00:42:08Let's go.
00:42:09Let's go.
00:42:10Let's go.
00:42:11Let's go.
00:42:12Let's go.
00:42:13Let's go.
00:42:14Let's go.
00:42:19Let's go.
00:42:20Let's go.
00:42:21Let's go.
00:42:22Let's go.
00:42:23Let's go.
00:42:24Let's go.
00:42:25Let's go.
00:42:26Let's go.
00:42:27Let's go.
00:42:28Let's go.
00:42:29Let's go.
00:42:30Let's go.
00:42:31Let's go.
00:42:32Let's go.
00:42:33Let's go.
00:42:34Let's go.
00:42:35Let's go.
00:42:36Let's go.
00:42:37Let's go.
00:42:38Let's go.
00:42:39Let's go.
00:42:40Let's go.
00:42:41Let's go.
00:42:42Let's go.
00:42:43Kill Thurman and destroy the communication systems.
00:42:45Okay.
00:42:46Just calm down.
00:42:49All I need right now is Kim waking me up to finding you in here.
00:42:54The meteorites are seeds.
00:42:55The meteorites are seeds?
00:42:59Yes.
00:43:00And there's something terribly wrong going on here.
00:43:02Oh, is everyone going crazy?
00:43:04Is everyone going crazy?
00:43:06He's already tried to sprout one in a hydroponic tank.
00:43:09It's all here in the book.
00:43:13He's already sprouted one here.
00:43:15And you know the piece that I took from Bert's meteorite?
00:43:17It's not mineral, Heidi. It's Testa.
00:43:20Tom.
00:43:21You know what Testa is? Testa's seed covering.
00:43:24Am I the only sane person left? Tom?
00:43:28Heidi, Mrs. Santiago, this is the creature.
00:43:31This is the creature I saw in the room with her, Heidi.
00:43:34If you say another word,
00:43:35I'm gonna have a complete mental breakdown and scream.
00:43:38Heidi, I saw this in the room!
00:43:40Tom.
00:43:42Leave.
00:43:44All right.
00:43:59Hugh?
00:44:11Tom!
00:44:14I'm looking at some lights to the trees.
00:44:31Looks like a bunch of people.
00:44:33I can't really tell what they're doing, so I'm gonna move closer.
00:44:36It looks like they're looking for something.
00:44:59I can't really tell.
00:45:00I can't really tell.
00:45:09I move so strangely.
00:45:10One of them just went by.
00:45:12Here comes another one.
00:45:13Oh, my God.
00:45:14It's going over me now.
00:45:28Jimmy!
00:45:29What are you doing?
00:45:30I'm here, honey.
00:45:31Daddy wants to talk to you.
00:45:32You're not my daddy!
00:45:33Come on.
00:45:34I'm here.
00:45:35I'm here, honey.
00:45:36Daddy wants to talk to you.
00:45:38You're not my daddy.
00:45:40Daddy wants to talk to you.
00:45:42You're not my daddy!
00:46:10No!
00:46:17No!
00:46:22No! Get out of here! They're coming!
00:46:24Get out of here!
00:46:26Come on, get out of here!
00:46:28Get your car! Come on!
00:46:32Hurry! They're coming!
00:46:36They're coming!
00:46:40Come on!
00:46:42Come on!
00:46:48Get out of here!
00:46:50Get out of here!
00:47:03How's she doing?
00:47:05I gave her a tranquilizer.
00:47:07If I had another one, I'd make you take it.
00:47:09Why don't you just try believing what she says?
00:47:11I don't want to hear any more of this, especially from you!
00:47:13I'm sorry about the camera.
00:47:17The camera.
00:47:19I'm sorry about the camera.
00:47:21The camera.
00:47:23She incorporates the fact that the camera was run over into her fantasy.
00:47:25What do you mean?
00:47:27What do you mean?
00:47:29She says that she got everything she saw on tape.
00:47:31That works for her.
00:47:33The camera's ruined, and I can't prove to her that she didn't.
00:47:35God damn it, Tom!
00:47:37You were the only person having a good influence on her, and now she thinks you believe that, too!
00:47:41Heidi.
00:47:43I'm sorry.
00:47:47I don't want to leave her alone.
00:47:49I don't want to leave her alone.
00:47:51I don't want to leave her alone.
00:47:53I don't want to leave her alone.
00:47:55I don't want to leave her alone.
00:47:59Okay.
00:48:00Yeah?
00:48:06Heidi.
00:48:07Heidi.
00:48:08I'm sorry.
00:48:09I don't want to leave her alone.
00:48:18I don't want to leave her alone.
00:48:59Heidi, this is a journal that I took from Doc Roller's lab that I showed you last night.
00:49:16Now I fixed Kim's tape, and I want you to watch it.
00:49:20It's a little screwed up.
00:49:23But watch it with an open eye, okay?
00:49:25Okay, that's what she saw last night.
00:49:33Tom, this doesn't prove anything.
00:49:34This is just darkness.
00:49:36These spots of light could be anything.
00:49:38Just hold on a second.
00:49:39Right in here.
00:49:42That!
00:49:43That's what I saw in the room with Mrs. Santiago.
00:49:45And that's what's in Doc Roller's journal, Heidi.
00:49:47Oh, my God.
00:49:52That's one of a man, Heidi.
00:49:54See?
00:49:56I haven't been making it up.
00:49:57That's what I saw in the room with Mrs. Santiago.
00:50:05I haven't been making it up.
00:50:06I haven't been making it up.
00:50:07I haven't been making it up.
00:50:07I haven't been making it up.
00:50:08I haven't been making it up.
00:50:09I haven't been making it up.
00:50:10I haven't been making it up.
00:50:11I haven't been making it up.
00:50:12I haven't been making it up.
00:50:13I haven't been making it up.
00:50:14I haven't been making it up.
00:50:15I haven't been making it up.
00:50:16I haven't been making it up.
00:50:17I haven't been making it up.
00:50:18I haven't been making it up.
00:50:19I haven't been making it up.
00:50:20I haven't been making it up.
00:50:21I haven't been making it up.
00:50:22I haven't been making it up.
00:50:23Tom, be careful.
00:50:41Brad, this stuff can be fixed.
00:50:43We're going to have to hike out of here.
00:50:44That's crazy.
00:50:45It'll take days to hike around the mountain to get to a road.
00:50:47Also, what do you want to do?
00:50:48Just wait here for them to find us?
00:50:50What about Brad and Frank?
00:50:54Frank is one of them.
00:50:56We can't be sure about anyone anymore.
00:50:58No one's been hurt.
00:51:00Thurman's dead, but Doc Roller got him.
00:51:02Listen, why don't you stop pretending that everything is going to be okay, okay?
00:51:06We've got to get out of this valley.
00:51:08Yeah, go ahead and run away.
00:51:10That's what you always do, isn't it?
00:51:12Anne Heide!
00:51:20God.
00:51:23Is it Brad?
00:51:26No, it's Frasier.
00:51:42Jesus Christ.
00:51:45Why are you going to get to the Doc Roller?
00:52:04What difference does it make?
00:52:05Listen, I'm not going to run away this time.
00:52:08Fred!
00:52:14Fred?
00:52:17Fred!
00:52:22Doc's involved in this.
00:52:23You showed us a journal.
00:52:24Heidi, Doc didn't kill Frasier, for Christ's sakes.
00:52:27Nobody human can do something like that.
00:52:30We don't know what we're dealing with.
00:52:32Doc knows something, Heidi, and he can help us now.
00:52:34I've got to find him.
00:52:36You two stay here, and don't let anybody in here.
00:52:39Do you understand me? Nobody.
00:52:40Good luck, Tom.
00:53:02Oh, boy.
00:53:08Eh?
00:53:09Ah.
00:53:30Ah.
00:53:32Mm-hmm.
00:53:40Doc.
00:53:41Hello.
00:53:45Hello.
00:53:47You're one of them.
00:53:48Just like I figured.
00:53:49Gee, stay back.
00:53:53I have my lights, haven't I?
00:53:57My lights will weaken you.
00:53:59And then I'll chop you to pieces.
00:54:04I'm not one of them, Doc.
00:54:06Whatever they are.
00:54:08I'm here to help you.
00:54:10Come on.
00:54:11You...
00:54:12You don't fool me.
00:54:16They got you.
00:54:17Just like they got Frank and Ed.
00:54:20Now, they ran from the ultraviolet.
00:54:23Let's see how you like it.
00:54:29Oh, no. My battery.
00:54:31So that's what the lights are about.
00:54:33Let's see if you bleed chlorophyll.
00:54:42I'm human.
00:54:44I don't go without a fight.
00:54:45Put the hatchet down, Doc.
00:54:47This one's got bullets in it.
00:54:50A gun.
00:54:52Then you're not one of them.
00:54:54Yeah, and I'm asking the questions now.
00:54:56What'd you run Thurman over for?
00:54:58They did it.
00:54:59Hmm.
00:55:01But Frank and Ed.
00:55:02Well, the seed people inside them.
00:55:06I was coming to warn you before it was too late.
00:55:09Yeah, and I was at your lab last night,
00:55:10and you're trying to sprout another one, aren't you?
00:55:12No!
00:55:14The tank was full of herbicide.
00:55:17That one I killed.
00:55:19There was only one seed has produced.
00:55:21Yeah, but the stuff I've seen,
00:55:22there's got to be more than just plants there.
00:55:25Ha!
00:55:26Plants!
00:55:28Are the most cunning
00:55:30and savage
00:55:32of all lifeform.
00:55:34Yeah, but they're rooted, Doc.
00:55:35What can they do?
00:55:36But seeds.
00:55:37Seeds are travelers.
00:55:40Creepers, hoppers, parachuters, hitchhikers.
00:55:43Seeds can chase us.
00:55:46We are being chased by seeds
00:55:48which were sown on the winds of the universe.
00:55:52This...
00:55:54is a snapshot
00:55:55of their arrival
00:55:56on planet Earth.
00:56:15I thought
00:56:16there were fossilized seeds
00:56:18from giant prehistoric plants.
00:56:20I had no idea that they contained
00:56:24intelligent lifeforms from another world.
00:56:28Or I'd have taken precautions earlier.
00:56:33You know, when...
00:56:37When I was sprouting one,
00:56:41I discovered
00:56:43that they cannot tolerate
00:56:45heavy doses of ultraviolet light.
00:56:46Heavy doses of ultraviolet light.
00:56:51If you are under UV,
00:56:54they can't enter your mind.
00:56:56But why would aliens turn to seeds?
00:56:59It's a perfect vehicle for space travel.
00:57:01Seeds can endure heat and cold and time.
00:57:04There are lotus plants in the National Arboretum
00:57:06that were sprouted from seeds found in King Tut's tomb.
00:57:10You're no good to be drunk, Doc.
00:57:11I'm no good either way.
00:57:16I have unleashed a terrible thing in the world.
00:57:19Listen, you killed this one, and we can kill the one Burt found.
00:57:20Now get over here and help me take these lights down.
00:57:22But there are still three seed creatures.
00:57:25Radiation may not work.
00:57:28Listen, what is a living can be killed.
00:57:30You said that.
00:57:31Now help me get these down.
00:57:33Oh, my God.
00:57:35Doctors, stay put.
00:57:36It's Frank.
00:57:38Don't go near me.
00:57:40Don't go near me.
00:57:42Don't go near me.
00:57:43It's Frank.
00:57:45Don't go near me.
00:57:47Oh, my God.
00:57:50Doctor, stay put.
00:57:52It's Frank.
00:57:54Don't go near me.
00:57:55Don't go near me.
00:57:57It's Frank.
00:57:58Don't go near me.
00:57:59How do you get her in there, for Christ's sakes?
00:58:00And shut up.
00:58:06You stay put.
00:58:28Christ, please, please.
00:58:30Please go!
00:58:31Ah!
00:58:32Ah!
00:58:33Ah!
00:58:36Ah!
00:58:37Ah!
00:58:38Ah!
00:58:39Ah!
00:58:40No!
00:58:41Ah!
00:58:42Ah!
00:58:43Ah!
00:58:44Ah!
00:58:45Ah!
00:58:46Ah!
00:58:47Ah!
00:58:48Ah!
00:58:58Ah!
00:58:59Ah!
00:59:00Ah!
00:59:01Ah!
00:59:02Ah!
00:59:03Ah!
00:59:04Ah!
00:59:05Ah!
00:59:06Ah!
00:59:07Ah!
00:59:08Ah!
00:59:09Ah!
00:59:10Ah!
00:59:11Ah!
00:59:12Ah!
00:59:13Ah!
00:59:14Ah!
00:59:15Ah!
00:59:16Ah!
00:59:17Ah!
00:59:18Ah!
00:59:19Ah!
00:59:20Ah!
00:59:21Ah!
00:59:22Ah!
00:59:23Ah!
00:59:24Ah!
00:59:25Ah!
00:59:26Ah!
00:59:27Ah!
00:59:28there was nothing i could do but follow them you had a gun why didn't you try to stop them
00:59:43because i knew the creature was alive inside of frank and it would have done no good
00:59:47but you understand you can't kill a cactus with a bullet you have to hack it into thousands of
00:59:53pieces that's why you have to get back up there now maybe i didn't get them all maybe there are
00:59:57hundreds of more of them still running around let me go out of the same come on take it easy tom we
01:00:03will let you up i just have to hear the whole story you think i am some kind of lunatic or
01:00:09something you think i'm hallucinating here and i just because i got hit in the head well i'm not
01:00:13this is true it's real i do believe you tom now what about doc did he go with you when you followed
01:00:23brad and heidi yeah doc was with me the whole way
01:00:27doc
01:00:33we followed them out to a place past the substation
01:00:47we followed them to a field near ed busta's orchard
01:00:56Oh, my God.
01:01:26Oh, my God.
01:01:56What the hell are they doing, planting?
01:02:03No.
01:02:04Seeds only grow in deep, acid-rich topsoil, like the orchard.
01:02:10They're digging up another one.
01:02:12That's not a seed.
01:02:34There's something huge.
01:02:37Take a look at this.
01:02:43It's a cone.
01:02:45A seed cone.
01:02:47A cone?
01:02:48Hundreds of seeds.
01:02:49They didn't travel here as individual seeds.
01:02:54They came as components of a larger body.
01:02:58Hundreds of seeds.
01:02:59We can't stop them.
01:03:00There are too many.
01:03:01Wait a minute.
01:03:02You just said that they can only grow in the orchard, right?
01:03:04They can't grow anywhere else in this canyon.
01:03:06There's not enough topsoil.
01:03:07So I don't have to go right by the substation.
01:03:16Come on.
01:03:17Where?
01:03:17What do we do?
01:03:18We aren't thinking big enough, Doc.
01:03:19Come on.
01:03:20What the hell is going on here?
01:03:25I need your lights, Bert.
01:03:26That's why they never got you.
01:03:28The ultraviolet makes you immune.
01:03:31What the dickens have you two been drinking?
01:03:34Frank, Ed, and Mrs. Santiago aren't people anymore.
01:03:37They've been taken over by some alien life form.
01:03:39Come from seeds, like the one you found.
01:03:42You're talking about my meteorite?
01:03:43Your meteorite's not a meteorite.
01:03:45It's a seed, and that's how they got here.
01:03:47My meteorite's a seed?
01:03:49You got it.
01:03:51Okay, that's it.
01:03:52Both of you out of here.
01:03:53Before I throw you out, get out of here.
01:03:55Let me tell you something.
01:03:57No, I mean business here.
01:03:58I need your herbicides, and I need your sprayer.
01:04:00Now, you make the choice.
01:04:03Make yourselves at home.
01:04:05Mi casa es su casa.
01:04:07Bert Mosley learned a long time ago
01:04:09he didn't argue with crazy people carrying guns.
01:04:18Jesus.
01:04:18Get behind the lights.
01:04:20Get down.
01:04:22Get down.
01:04:33We've got to get out of here.
01:04:34No, I can't.
01:04:35I've got to have the car.
01:04:37I need those lights, Doc.
01:04:40I need those livestock.
01:04:42Now, I know we'll try to go.
01:04:52Good dog, ben on my face.
01:04:54I don't know.
01:04:56I know I've got to watch this.
01:04:58Had to see her.
01:04:59Even bowling money's everything up in me.
01:05:01And that's pretty much for our outhouse.
01:05:03It's just over my ass.
01:05:05That's right.
01:05:06But because I can do something, it's pretty good for you.
01:05:08Be careful, he's got a gun.
01:05:21Where are they, Bert?
01:05:24I'm going to have to run by the truck.
01:05:27Stay low and behind me.
01:05:38Ah!
01:05:40Ah!
01:05:41Ah!
01:05:42Ah!
01:05:43Ah!
01:05:44Ah!
01:05:45Ah!
01:05:46Ah!
01:05:47Ah!
01:05:48Ah!
01:05:49Ah!
01:05:50Ah!
01:05:51Ah!
01:06:06Okay, Doc, let's get a move on.
01:06:07I'm going to need all this wire.
01:06:08Ah!
01:06:09Shh!
01:06:38They don't even see us.
01:06:39They see us.
01:06:40We're just irrelevant.
01:06:45They see the seed.
01:06:49They don't like that ultraviolet light.
01:06:55Don't go, Tom.
01:06:56Don't go, Tom.
01:06:57I've got to get behind you.
01:06:58I...
01:07:06Tom, look out!
01:07:07Come on.
01:07:08I've got to get behind you.
01:07:09Come on.
01:07:10I'm...
01:07:11Oh!
01:07:12Ah!
01:07:13Ah!
01:07:15Ah!
01:07:17Ah!
01:07:18Ah!
01:07:19Ah!
01:07:20Ah!
01:07:21Ah!
01:07:22Ah!
01:07:23Ah!
01:07:24Ah!
01:07:25Ah!
01:07:26Ah!
01:07:27Ah!
01:07:28Ah!
01:07:29Ah!
01:07:30Ah!
01:07:31Ah!
01:07:32Ah!
01:07:33It's the light.
01:07:41It's the ultraviolet light.
01:07:44Tom.
01:07:46Okay.
01:08:03Let's go.
01:08:33Let's go.
01:09:03I want you to hook these two up here.
01:09:05Now I'm going to run up on the hill and pull the electricity down.
01:09:07I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:11I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:15I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:19I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:23I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:27I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:31I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:35I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:39I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:41I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:45I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:49I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:51I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:55I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:57I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:09:59I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:10:03I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:10:05I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:10:07I'm going to run up on the hill.
01:11:07They're not going by the substation.
01:11:13Hold on.
01:11:15I'm going for it!
01:11:33Doc.
01:11:34Yeah?
01:11:34I'll grab hold of mine.
01:11:37All right.
01:11:44You ready here?
01:11:59Hold it.
01:11:59Hold it.
01:12:01I got it.
01:12:02I appeal to you as a scientist, Tom.
01:12:19Save one of the seeds.
01:12:20We have to preserve one of them.
01:12:21Don't start with me now, Doc.
01:12:23I don't want to hear this.
01:12:24I know how to control it now.
01:12:26We don't let it pollinate.
01:12:28Don't you see?
01:12:29It'll be harmless that way.
01:12:30We don't let it go to seed.
01:12:37Just one of them, Tom.
01:12:39Have enough people been killed?
01:12:41Now, when I throw this switch, you get your butt over these unleave off lights.
01:12:49Brad, they're still coming.
01:12:50Son of a flying.
01:13:06We got the lights!
01:13:07We got the light!
01:13:08Let's go.
01:13:38Let's go.
01:14:08Let's go.
01:14:38Let's go.
01:14:40Let's go.
01:14:44Let's go.
01:14:54Let's go.
01:14:56Brad, what's going on?
01:14:58Let's go.
01:15:00Let's go.
01:15:02Let's go.
01:15:06Let's go.
01:15:08Let's go.
01:15:10Let's go.
01:15:14Let's go.
01:15:16Let's go.
01:15:18Let's go.
01:15:20Let's go.
01:15:22Let's go.
01:15:24Let's go.
01:15:26Let's go.
01:15:28Let's go.
01:15:30Let's go.
01:15:32Let's go.
01:15:34Let's go.
01:15:36Let's go.
01:15:38Let's go.
01:15:40Let's go.
01:15:42Let's go.
01:15:44Let's go.
01:15:46Let's go.
01:15:48Let's go.

01:15:58Let's go.
01:16:00Let's go.
01:16:02Let's go.
01:16:32Let's go.
01:16:34Let's go.
01:16:40And that's when I went out.
01:16:44And the next thing I knew, I woke up here in this hospital.
01:16:48The medication's wearing off.
01:16:50Listen, I don't need any more of this medication.
01:16:52I told you everything that I know.
01:16:56What are you waiting for?
01:16:58What's happened to Heidi and the others?
01:17:00They're OK, Tom.
01:17:02As a matter of fact, they're waiting in the other room.
01:17:06Heidi's here.
01:17:08I want to see her.
01:17:10Sure, Tom.
01:17:12Just one more thing.
01:17:14What happened to Doc Roller after he grabbed those power cables?
01:17:18He was electrocuted.
01:17:22He was burned so badly, he couldn't even recognize him.
01:17:30Where's Heidi?
01:17:42Heidi?
01:17:48Everything's fine.
01:17:50Doc Roller is dead.
01:17:52Then we don't have anyone else to worry about.
01:17:54Do we?
01:17:56Not anymore.
01:18:02No.
01:18:04No!
01:18:06No!
01:18:08No!
