A landslide in Ardhkuwari area has forced the suspension of the Mata Vaishno Devi yatra. The incident was triggered by unprecedented, continuous rainfall in the Jammu region lasting for over 12 hours. A rescue operation is underway.

00:00And more news coming in from Jammu. A landslide has occurred in Vaishno Devi's Ardhukwari area.
00:07Some injuries are feared. Rescue operations are underway along with the required manpower and machinery.
00:14And the photographs that you see on your screens are from Ardhukwari area which is in the route, en route to Vaishno Devi temple.
00:25And India Today's Sunil Ji Bhatt is with us. Sunil, do tell us because this route that we see and the visuals that we see,
00:37it seems the landslide broke through the barriers and through the roof and came on to the route to Vaishno Devi.
00:45It's an extremely secure route. I've also traversed this route. It is an extremely secure and a very cemented kind of an area.
00:53So this must have been a landslide that caused quite a bit of damage.
01:01Anjali, as I said that unprecedented rains are being witnessed in Jammu region.
01:07And it has triggered landslides and shooting stones at many places, particularly on the highways and important roads.
01:14And we are getting this tragic news that there has been a landslide on the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra track near Ardhukwari.
01:21And the visuals that are coming from there are very horrific.
01:26And what we are learning from our sources is that many pilgrims are feared to be injured.
01:32And the injured pilgrims are being taken to the hospitals in Katra.
01:38Rescue operation is on.
01:39But, Anjali, rains have wreaked havoc in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
01:47And as far as the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra is concerned,
01:50the Yatra has been stopped due to inclement weather and continuous rainfall.
01:55As I said, it has been raining cats and dogs in Jammu region for the last more than 12 hours.
02:01And that is why there have been landslides in hilly areas and the streets in the plains have been inundated.
02:08Water level in most rivers are, you know, flowing near the danger mark and people are facing a harrowing time.
02:16Streets have been flooded.
02:18Water from the swollen rivers have entered the residential areas.
02:24And people, you know, some people are stuck in the floodwaters.
02:27And that is why rescue teams from the SDRF, Jammu and Kashmir police have been mobilized.
02:33And they are visiting different areas in the low-lying areas.
02:37And people who are stuck in floodwaters are being rescued by the teams from the SDRF and Jammu and Kashmir police.

02:50And also Yatra, which is an all-weather Yatra that happens all through the year,
