00:00Being able to come back in the final is going to be a proud moment for any of these teams.
00:04All right, we're about to find out who is going to lift the wheel at the end of the day.
00:08One minute to go before the event final.
00:10Remember, Ambrose GBR had their boat damaged last night.
00:13It looked like they wouldn't be sailing today, and here they are in the event final.
00:16Content Delapierre and the French TV, they had a bib moment
00:19where he goes over the wheel, through the wheel on Friday.
00:22They're in the final, and of course, the parental favorites,
00:24the Bond Slime Roos and Tom Slingsby.
00:26Yeah, you give it to any of them. They've all sailed great.
00:28They all deserve to be here, and I think the start will be more important than in the other fleet races.
00:33Now there's more space on the course, and more of the boats can make their own decision.
00:36Emirates Great Britain and Australia, well, they're in a tight fight.
00:39Australia now struggling there. The Bond Slime Roos have got to do some serious work.
00:43We've got some tricky, tricky maneuvers to come here.
00:46I like where the French are in space, though.
00:48Delapierre's been starting well. He has the Rolex Pole Predictor on him,
00:51and he's looking good here as we come in towards the start line.
00:54Pole position towards the spot where Emirates Great Britain are,
00:57but it's all about acceleration.
00:59Bond's flew in route. Flying Roos is going to need a comeback.
01:01Look for that line to turn white. Fletcher's going to get it right here.
01:04Oh, Emirates GBR are going to be leading at Mark 1, I think, here.
01:10They've just got to pop onto the foils they have. They're gone.
01:13They're going to be flying towards Mark 1, aggressive against Australia,
01:17positioned well against the French, and now fast towards Mark 1.
01:21Emirates GBR have got it right so far.
01:24Hey, lefty, five away. Yeah.
01:26Here it is.
01:28And as they approach Mark 1, the question is,
01:31how much distance can Emirates GBR put between themselves,
01:34the French and the Bond Slime Roos?
01:36and the Bond's flying Roos. The race for the title is on here in Cessnais.
01:40It looks light after this first mark.
01:42The Rolex sprint leader there, GBR, well, they've nailed that, haven't they?
01:46You want to go right on the first mark in breeze if you're the first boat,
01:50because if you're not in wind, it probably means the boat behind is.
01:53Pressure coming to us here. Coming up still.
01:56Yeah, we've got through time.
01:57Yeah.
01:58More down.
02:00Big wind shift here. None of them are moving down the course very quickly.
02:03Expect the Australians to potentially have a little attack option here.
02:06Emirates Great Britain are in breeze, though.
02:08They're not going to lay, I don't you think?
02:10That's nice angle.
02:12Putting themselves in a nice sort of protected position
02:14between the fleet and the Mark there.
02:16But on a day like today, you can't afford to give anyone any leverage
02:19and separation because the breeze is so tricky to read.
02:22Yeah, but they're really well positioned.
02:24Look, Emirates Great Britain are sailing into really nice breeze here.
02:27OK, we're here there from Dillon.
02:33So interesting here.
02:34OK, control the control, one in right.
02:36That means one more manoeuvre.
02:37Let's take a right turn.
02:38The French are basically going to have to follow that,
02:40and it will be a big moment whether Australia rolls the dice or not.
02:43Good opportunity to go down on the water, Lisa Darmann.
02:46And whose position do you like?
02:47And where's the sweet spot for this event final?
02:50I think it's pretty nice to be Emirates Great Britain now and have a choice.
02:55But I think one thing that's so hard out here is,
02:57because the wind direction and speed is changing so much,
02:59he's trying to choose those lay lines,
03:01whether it's that gate or the gate they'll be coming up to.
03:03You know, that's really where things have been won or lost out here.
03:06So we've got a split here.
03:08Emirates Great Britain liked the right turn, which is good,
03:10but we could see from that helicopter shot there was wind if you take the left turn.
03:14So I don't think it's a problem for either of the boats behind to split away.
03:18There will be wind that way, and it will then ask a question.
03:21Here we go. What do the Bonds Flying Roos do?
03:23They look like they might split the course.
03:25Yep, there they go. Left turns for the Bonds Flying Roos.
03:27They're going to roll the dice early in the race here, Slingsby.
03:30Three-time champions of SailGP.
03:34They haven't won since New Zealand event number two.
03:37That's Tom, Slingsby and company.
03:39As Stevie said, they're going to take a chance here and see what happens.
03:42They're already going to finish in the top three.
03:44The only boat out there right now that has not won an event this year is the French.
03:48Okay, crucial moment here in the race.
03:52We can see both the boats on the left are not really moving up the course ladder line-wise.
03:56The wind is rotated to the Bonds Flying Roos side here, but they're still going to be a little bit behind,
04:02but they might have closed the game up a little bit.
04:04And what sort of breeze will they be sailing in later?
04:06GBR off the foils, in no breeze.
04:08France foiling seriously 30 kilometers an hour faster.
04:12Emirates GBR first to third, I think, here.
04:16That's it. You can't always keep yourself between the fleet and the mark,
04:19and just that little bit of separation out of the mark has opened up the door.
04:22Just seeing the Oracle cloud there.
04:24The Emirates GBR were in nearly five kilometers an hour left wind,
04:27and that was just enough to get them off the foils and put them down in the water.
04:31So now it's a straight fight between France and Australia.
04:34But again, we've seen anything can happen very quickly right now.
04:37Bonds Flying Roos.
04:38Look how smooth the boat looks here on this flat German water.
04:41And copy.
04:44Good angle for Australia as well here, Todd. Straight up the course.
04:48Again, softer for here, charging.
04:50When they say charging, that means that they've got...
04:53They will have a maneuver when they get to this bottom hand of the screen.
04:56And they do have a minimum speed that they can pull off a foiling tack,
04:59so they're going to make sure that as soon as they want to make that decision
05:02that they're going fast enough to do that.
05:04This thing to me right now is really hoping that in front of him is a nice gust of wind.
05:08Okay, let's stand by there.
05:10No, he's giving up.
05:11He's saying the wind's going to stay favoring the French for the time being.
05:15But they've gone from third to second.
05:17They've closed the gaps.
05:18About being patient here and take the opportunities when you did.
05:21They split last time at gate two.
05:23What's going to happen at gate three?
05:25The Bonds Flying Roos were third off the line.
05:27They now drop back to second place, and France inherits the lead.
05:31So the French still looking for their first event win of the season.
05:35Will it be today in Germany?
05:37We are halfway through the course.
05:39Leg three of six.
05:40It is France at gate number three.
05:42The Bonds Flying Roos in second, and here comes Emirates GBR.
05:45And Emirates GBR are in phase with the wind here.
05:47Emirates GBR will go left.
05:48If they can go left and maneuver early, they could be back in the lead very, very quickly here.
05:53This one's favoring Emirates GBR at the moment.
05:56If they can stay on the foils.
05:57No, they're down off the foils.
05:59It's a full reload for the whole fleet.
06:01They're all off the foils.
06:03France first back up again.
06:04Oh, it was inches away from Emirates GBR.
06:07Making that and taking the lead again.
06:09Oh, God.
06:10It's painful.
06:11It's okay.
06:12They're struggling too.
06:13You're just holding the single twig at the pot.
06:16All about keeping cool in this situation and seeing where you can pick back up again.
06:20But look at the difference.
06:21I mean, France right now going 60 kilometers an hour.
06:24Emirates GBR was down to 17.
06:26Now they're starting to build, Stevie.
06:27And so they'll be foiling really soon.
06:29But this is literally the definition of snakes and ladders.
06:32Todd, I told you we were playing Mario Kart Powered by Nature out here today, didn't you?
06:36And this final is demonstrating that.
06:37France is doing a very nice job of staying calm.
06:39Sail your own boat well.
06:41That's all you can control is what you sail.
06:43Left-hand side of the screen.
06:44Emirates GBR.
06:45They're nearly going straight down the course.
06:46They have the most wind.
06:48They have the most speed at the moment.
06:49Here we go.
06:50The Oracle clown.
06:51We're up into it.
06:52Wind speed.
06:53GBR.
06:548 kilometers an hour more wind.
06:55And that's turning into over 10, 12 kilometers an hour more boat speed.
06:58This maneuver is crucial.
06:59And the decision at gate number four.
07:02The final turning gate is going to be absolutely massive here.
07:05Can Contant de la Pierre keep it calm?
07:08Oh, they've lost the runners on the British boat.
07:10Oh, they've just stayed foiling.
07:14Emirates GBR's fifth final.
07:16This will be their second win of the season.
07:18And it is Contant de la Pierre now applying the pressure
07:21as the French look for their first win in season five.
07:24Pretty textbook there.
07:25Hey, Hannah, he's turned straight in front of Emirates GBR.
07:28But now he's got to make a decision.
07:31You'd want to have the decision.
07:33Lisa, which way are you turning at this final turning gate?
07:36Left or right?
07:37I think the left turn is actually quite strong.
07:42And then you want to be able to maneuver pretty quickly
07:44and then head all the way over to the other way where those boats are.
07:47Well, Contant de la Pierre clearly heard that, takes the left turn.
07:51I anticipate surely the Bonds Flying Roos will take a split here
07:54and roll the dice one more time.
07:56There he goes.
07:57Slingsby splits away.
08:00Good to look for an opportunity on the B.
08:04Good patience by the British there.
08:06Contant de la Pierre first to move away.
08:08Emirates Great Britain will push all the way to the boundary
08:10of the Bonds Flying Roos.
08:11Well, has he seen something special with this return?
08:14See, this is hard for the French,
08:17because you've got the two boats behind you going opposite ways.
08:20And on a day like today,
08:21you've got no control over what's happening to either of them.
08:24So really, really hard decision-making.
08:26But they do look to be in really good pressure,
08:27going nicely up the course at the moment.
08:29Yeah, and I think as well, you know, in the positive sense,
08:32they've got himself in a lot more wind.
08:34And you do get the first decision.
08:36Like Lisa said on that first lap,
08:38at least you've got the first decision.
08:39They've made a very, very good decision so far.
08:41200 metre gain.
08:43Ville Bleu at the moment, this looks pretty strong.
08:46However, we've seen that the final 600 metres of this upwind leg
08:49can be crucial.
08:50Left-hand side of screen, there is good wind.
08:52Max Gauche, furthest left is what Kevin Pepin is saying
08:56to Contant de la Pierre there.
08:58One more manoeuvre coming.
08:59Where will they stay on the foils?
09:04Oh, they keep it dry.
09:06They're so aggressive in their turns.
09:09So much more than a lot of the other boats, aren't they?
09:11Well, Contant does like to drive it like he stole it.
09:14There's no doubt about that.
09:16Now, he's setting up.
09:17GBR are going to come wider here.
09:19Will France be able to make the final turning mark
09:21with no more manoeuvres?
09:22Could be crucial.
09:23He's in good breeze,
09:25but the British are going to stretch wide against him here.
09:27Not much wind in front of the French, Todd.
09:31So a big moment coming here in 200 metres.
09:34France has the lead.
09:36Emirates GBR in second.
09:37There you see the Australians.
09:38They are the top of the course,
09:40and it all comes down to this.
09:41There you see the Emirates finish line in the distance.
09:44It's going to be two manoeuvres now for the French.
09:46This manoeuvres now is absolutely crucial.
09:50France needs to stay foiling.
09:52If he foils, I think he's going to take the final.
09:55Oh, that was beautifully done and not a lot of wind.
09:59And they'll make this turn and they will see the finish line in front of them.
10:09With the bones flying roos and Emirates GBR closing down.
10:12Will they have the speed?
10:14Can they take it to the line?
10:16Here we go.
10:17The race is on.
10:18It's going to just stay foiling, Todd.
10:20They've got to stay over 33.
10:23I think they're foiling still.
10:25They're going to get it done, Todd.
10:26Here we go.
10:29So the third time is a charm.
10:32Three finals and now their first event win since season three.
10:36Give the win in Sassnitz to the French.
10:38Allez, les bleures.
10:40Hey.
10:45Oh, Quentin.
10:47What a weekend.
10:48The Emirates winning moment goes to Team France.
10:51The bones flying roos will finish in second.
10:54And Emirates GBR will wrap up the top three.
10:57Great week of racing by all three teams.
11:00But, Stevie, you look at the teams that finished one and two.
11:03France after their moment on Friday.
11:05With Quentin Delapierre going the driving wheel.
11:08We thought he might be done for the weekend.
11:10And then Emirates GBR with their collision.
11:12They're in the final and they finish in second.
11:17And the fans have turned out to support the champions, Les Bleus.
11:20The French will lift the wheel.
11:22And Mayor Leon Kreutche, the mayor of Sassnitz.
11:25What great host and Sail GP, no question, will be back.
11:29Hannah Diamond, your final thoughts on what we saw this weekend?
11:32Well, I think we've seen it all, haven't we?
11:34From the drama of Friday to incredible racing yesterday
11:37and a really tricky race course today.
11:39It's been an unbelievable weekend.
11:40Stevie, I think Lisa Darman had the greatest line of the day.
11:43From the hospital to the winner's circle, France gets the victory.
11:46Yeah, I mean it just shows you, you know, resilience is obviously a huge part of our sport.
11:50Mistakes are a thing that happen and they've moved forward from that and gone really, really well.
11:54I just hope what I've seen is that a fantastic sailing event with some amazing tactical racing
11:59at such incredibly high speeds.
12:01I hope we remember it for that, not the crashes.
12:04Because the racing has been absolutely spectacular.
12:07Plenty of drama, plenty of action, but it's just been superb racing.
12:10As the French national anthem is played, we turn the page and we take a look at what's next.
12:17And it will be the French on home waters, the Rockwell France Sale Grand Prix in Saint-Tropez,
12:21September 12th and 13th.
12:24And that will be one great show.
12:40one great show.
12:41Don't leap.
12:42Pioneer könnten overusz
12:50Yeah.
12:51country
12:51entertainment
12:53bacamp.
12:54I don't decide where you're going right.
12:55I just want to let you know where you're going.
12:57This is a new one
13:01and top ten.
13:02I stayed able to take these different places.
