00:00Beloved Acharya Ji, I read the six chapters of the allotted book in the last week majorly

00:08today and now I don't want to stop and there is a feeling of stillness.

00:15But when I look back to conclude what I have read, I can't recollect much.

00:20There is a feeling that I need to read again and a feeling that I haven't received completely

00:29what has been said, yet there is no question, am I not paying attention?

00:35These aren't matters of completing a syllabus, these are things of love.

00:52Look at the whole milieu, look at the whole story, not merely what you have done today

01:02and a few days back.

01:18Is there love?

01:23Then obviously attention would follow.

01:32And if there is no love, how does it matter how many chapters you have completed?

01:42What next?

01:43You would appear for a semester and exam tomorrow and reproduce what you have just mucked up

01:55and that too you won't be able to do because as you have mentioned you don't remember much.

02:01Too bad.

02:11So you felt that you were lagging behind, right?

02:14The course is proceeding.

02:18We are past the halfway mark.

02:21The class has surged ahead and you felt your lagging behind.

02:31So you picked up the book and in one go you finished off the chapters, right?

02:38Is that also not what a 16 year old does, a 20 year old does, a 22 year old does?

02:47The syllabus has shot ahead of me.

02:50So what do I do?

02:54One night, I just clean up everything.

02:59And that allows me to laze around for the next couple of weeks.

03:07Is that not how we have anyway been approaching education?

03:15Has anything really changed?

03:21Is there love?

03:28You want to play catch up.

03:32And then just to double check, you want to recollect that you have indeed caught up.

03:42You haven't asked me, what is this game of playing catch up?

03:51See what you have asked me, you have asked me, have I indeed caught up?

03:58You are saying, when I look back to conclude what I have read, I can't recollect much.

04:05There is a feeling that I need to read again, a feeling that I haven't comprehended completely

04:13Are you judging yourself against some benchmark?

04:19Are you trying to compete?

04:23Rohit, even in matters of love, do you have others in mind?

04:37Such love comes to very tragic shocks.

04:57You want to check what the other's position is.

05:26Suppose no sessions had passed by.

05:31Suppose the feeling of being left behind was not there.

05:36Would you still have picked up the book and read it?

05:39No, you read the book because the motivator was a feeling of competition.

05:54Are you competing even in love?

06:02Have you not learnt, Rohit, when the position, the station, the presence of others becomes

06:14too significant in matters of love, then the beloved is lost.

06:30Even memory is an other.

06:35Even comprehension is an other.

06:43Even if you go to memory to ask, do you retain something?

06:48If you go to the memory and ask, hi memory, do you retain something?

06:53You are asking somebody else.

06:59This is vilification of love.

07:07If you go to the intellect and ask, have you comprehended?

07:12You have introduced a third party in love.

07:19That too is an abuse of love.

07:24One clear characteristic of the lover, let me tell you, very, very clear characteristic.

07:33The lover cannot be affected by the presence of third, fourth or fifth entities.

07:40Why?

07:41Because the lover is seeing only one.

07:47If the lover is seeing only one, how will the lover even ever know that the third, fourth,

07:54fifth, eighth, tenth are existent?

08:00And if the lover is not seeing only one, then his love is anyway not worth the name.

08:10It's between you and the book, Rohit.

08:25How do the others matter?

08:34I could probably also have said, it's between you and me.

08:40But then to you, the others do matter, don't they?

08:50If you find a lover complaining about the presence or interference of a third, fourth, fifth person,

08:58know very well that first of all, this love is very, very incomplete.

09:10The first question that you should ask to such a complainant is, how did you notice that

09:15a third one is present?

09:17How did you notice?

09:20Who are you looking at?

09:27You have loved Osho a lot, Rohit, haven't you?

09:35And there is this story that Osho used to tell, Sufi story.

09:45What he used to narrate it with such love and effect.

09:59So there was this Fakir who was praying to God with his

10:15mattress, and beads, and books, and incense, and cups, and other holy stuff.

10:43So he had laid out the mattress, and on the mattress, all these little things were kept.

10:51And he was kneeling in prayer.

10:57And he was quite absorbed.

11:04And then there was this mad, crazy, foolish girl rushing to meet her lover.

11:23She had no sense of herself, no sense of time, no sense of etiquette.

11:28Only one sandal she was wearing.

11:32And her clothes were improper.

11:36And she was rushing in such great speed, hurtling through the farms, through the woods.

11:51And in her great haste, she did not see that the Fakir was there with all his holy arrangement.

12:03She stumbled upon the Fakir.

12:10She disturbed all the things that had been placed and arranged, disrupted the prayer.

12:19And not only that, nonchalantly, as if nothing has happened, she got up and kept running.

12:32And the Fakir got agitated.

12:34He called from behind, come back, come here you.

12:38And the girl, reluctantly, came to him and said, whatever you have to say, please say quickly.

12:51I am rushing off.

12:56The Fakir said, are you blind or what?

13:01Hmm?

13:02Don't you see that something pious is happening here?

13:10For the sake of a mere mortal of flesh and blood.

13:19You have committed a sacrilege, the girl said, I am sorry, Fakir Baba, yes, it is true

13:42that my beloved is a mere man of flesh and blood.

13:52Probably I am not yet in love with God.

14:00But allow me to rush to my mortal beloved.

14:15He is very dear to me.

14:19And before I disappear, I have just one question to ask you.

14:31In love of a mere mortal, I totally forgot that you were in the way.

14:43When you say that you are a lover of Allah the Almighty, and yet you noticed me, I am loving

14:59just a mere man, skin and bones.

15:06And yet my eyes were so firmly set on my beloved that I totally ignored everything else.

15:14I had just one thing in my vision, the one I love.

15:18Everything else was to be ignored.

15:20No third party counts.

15:26If someone is in the way, so be it.

15:37I will either knock down or trip over or jump or something.

15:42But I am not going to stop or deviate.

15:47How is it that you stopped your prayers for my sake?

15:52I did not stop.

15:53Why did you stop?

15:54I was going to my lover.

15:56You too were with your beloved.

15:59Why did you stop your prayers?

16:01I did not stop.

16:03What kind of faith do you have?

16:24Because of others, if you stop praying, you have no love.

16:33Because of others, if you start praying, you have no love.

16:41Such meaningless prayers.

16:45They stopped because there were influences.

16:48And they start because there are influences.

16:51Unholy prayers.

16:52Unholy prayers.

17:04The mind sees just too many people.

17:08The heart is blind to all but one.

17:11Do you have any heart?
