00:00Are you ready to tell him?
00:30Oh my god.
00:43I don't know, normally I don't.
00:45Well, let's do it.
00:51She became the object of a non-stop photographic feeding frenzy.
01:00Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine.
01:05Photographer Mark Saunders followed her everywhere, even the gym.
01:09She said, who do you sell your pictures to?
01:11And I said, I'll sell them to anyone.
01:14And she said, yeah, lines the wallet well, though, don't they?
01:17And I said, well, yes, but, you know, it is still just a job.
01:22And I asked if I could take a picture of her.
01:25And she said, a picture of me now? No, I don't think so.
01:29And I said, oh, well, make me a few bob.
01:31And she said, well, how would you like me then?
01:33And I said, well, topless would be nice.
01:34And she laughed.
01:35And said, yes, that would be nice.
01:42The pressure got to her.
01:43In 1992, Princess Diana decided to take a year off from her public duties.
01:47I hope you can find it in your hearts to understand and to give me the time and space that has been lacking in recent years.
01:59She may have taken time off, but the paparazzi didn't.
02:15If she couldn't protect herself, Diana tried at least to protect her children.
02:22She learned a trick.
02:25No face, no photo.
02:27But watch, she still manages to bend down and accept flowers from a child.
02:37The trouble with her determination to escape the paparazzi was that Diana herself forever fed the beast.
02:45Her personal problems, her bulimia, the collapse of her marriage, her affairs, all kept them after her, especially her affairs.
02:55Journalist Richard Kaye.
02:57Any man who gets involved with the Princess of Wales has got to be prepared for the most astonishing intrusions in his life.
03:04Dodie Fayyad was.
03:07He was Hollywood, a movie producer.
03:09He was also a man with a reputation for loving and leaving beautiful, high-profile women for seeking the limelight.
03:17There was a certain Jackie Onassis quality to the romance between Dodie Fayyad and Diana.
03:23Perhaps their relationship was literally an accident waiting to happen.
03:28You, Preston, killed her.
03:31New York's nobility is still bubbling about the champagne-filled party of the year, a social event to die for.
03:44Diana decided not to sneak in a side door like some other high-profile guest, but instead she swept up the front stairs.
03:52She was a work of art, dressed in a daring midnight blue and black lace gown, accented with a pearl and sapphire choker.
04:00Then she was introduced to society by her good friend Liz Tilbaris, the editor of Harper's Bazaar.
04:06Are you pleased to have Diana?
04:07Terribly pleased. Very honored. It's great to have such great friends. Thank you.
04:11Even the not-so-starstruck were blushing from their brush with dye.
04:15And anyone who can get so close to her is absolutely divine.
04:22The music is about to be seen by her.
04:35The music is about to be seen by her.
04:37The music is about to be seen by her.
06:19Des chagrins s'effacent, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux.
06:26Des chagrins s'effacent, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux, heureux.

10:17I think the footage that's been released by the coroner is actually very compelling
10:25because we get a second by second almost take on what was happening to Diana just before
10:31she died and in that way it's quite haunting.
10:35Most haunting is what might be the last of Diana's smiles that any camera captured.
10:40I am certain what happened to them. I know they've been murdered and I'm sure the jury
10:50of ordinary people will confirm all my doubts for the last 10 years which I've been fighting
10:56to find justice for my son and Prince Diana.
10:59It's been more than three times over the French limit than twice the British one.
11:04One of the most intriguing images was shown four years ago on Channel 5.
11:08At 11 minutes past 11, Henri Paul, supposedly three times over the French limit, manages
11:14to tie both shoelaces. He squats, switches his balance from right to left foot before standing
11:20up unaided.
11:23He looked pretty sober to me and I think to everybody who was watching that footage.
11:28So he certainly didn't look like somebody who was intoxicated and most definitely he didn't
11:32look like somebody who was as drunk as a pig as the newspapers reported in the aftermath
11:37of that crash.
11:38Lord Stephen's report said Henri Paul was walking around the hotel apparently functioning normally
11:44with no indication he was unsteady.
11:46But his verdict was that blood samples that were from Henri Paul did have a high alcohol
11:51content.
11:53If the jury are not convinced Henri Paul was too drunk to drive, they will challenge all
11:57previous judgments.
11:58The coroner has already alerted them to what is called a major issue.
12:01Whether evidence has been fabricated to suggest Henri Paul was drunk when he was not.
12:08In the Diana inquest, one of the 20 issues the coroner has highlighted is whether, and if
12:15so in what circumstances, the Princess of Wales feared for her life.
12:19In October 1996, in a letter to her butler, Princess Diana expressed the fear that she would die in a car crash and it wouldn't be an accident.
12:29I am sitting here at my desk today in October, longing for someone to hug me and encourage me to keep strong
12:36and hold my head up high.
12:38This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous.
12:43X is planning an accident in my car, brake failure and serious head injury.
12:49X is planning an accident in my car, brake failure and a car crash and a car crash and a car crash.
13:04X is planning an accident in my car crash and a car crash and a car crash and a car crash.
