00:00The manner of the goals. Too cheap from our perspective, too soft in terms of how they
00:13were conceded really. After a great start we got off two. The first goal probably sets
00:19a tone for how the goals were conceded and when you do that, especially against a top
00:27side like Chelsea, it makes it very impossible.
00:34That. We have to do better. We have to do better. You can't defend the box like we did.
00:42You can't concede goals like we did. We have to do better.
00:46Do you think sometimes the team has a mental challenge whenever they conceded a goal?
00:53Naturally there is a disappointment generally in football when you conceded a goal and there
01:04is no doubt we have had a tough week. The second goal was too cheap, too easy. Again, I don't
01:13want to use the word but it is basic defending. Fair enough if the quality of player that
01:20is out there for Chelsea rips us apart with something really, really top. I don't think
01:24that was. Then you are down 2-1 in the game and then you are caught between trying to press
01:31them and get after them a bit because the crowd demands that and we are at home so you need
01:35to do that but at the same time they have quality that they can play through you. Then it is
01:42a difficult evening but again, I repeat, the manner of the goals for us is not good enough.
01:47Last question for me. 10 days to go before the window closes, how often are you that you can get
01:52the new football question you need?
01:54It is a combination of two things. I think we can look for players and sign players that
02:02can help us from the outside but we also need to improve what we have inside as well.
02:07It is probably a bit of everything if I am being honest. It is the reality but we have had
02:31a tough week as I said. We have played two matches and we conceded eight goals. There is no one
02:38getting away from that so that has to drastically improve. We have to defend our box a lot better.
02:43We have got a game on Tuesday which allows us to look at some solutions, some other players
02:49of course and then we have to find a way forward that is better than what it is at the moment.
02:54I don't want to say it is a lack of fight because I know the players care and I know the players
03:08are desperate to do well. I work with them every day. I know they want to do better than we are.
03:15I think sometimes in football and in life you can hit a patch where it is tough and there is no doubt about it.
03:22We have had a tough week. We arrived into the Sunderland game with optimism and positivity
03:26and we have had a smash on the nose. You face Chelsea who have got some talent and it is a tough game for us.
03:35Like I said we started well but it was too easy to score against us. That is the reality and we have to improve that.
03:42When the collapses keep happening, I know you said you have the leadership but when the collapses keep happening as they are, does that start to make you think again about whether there is enough character in that thing?
03:55Well, I think I don't doubt the people in the dressing room. I don't doubt that. I think they have got leadership qualities. I think there is character in the dressing room.
04:08But I think we are struggling and suffering at the moment because we have had a tough week. It is a combination of a sub-par second half against Sunderland that we paid for incredibly.
04:22And then we were too cheap and easy to score against a top team with talented players.
04:34I think it is.
04:35How confident are you that this group can do that?
04:43I am confident in the players and I am confident in myself. I also understand the situation. I understand it is tough.
04:49Because, of course, the results we have had the last two games, nobody wants that. It doesn't look pretty when you write it up.
04:58So, the only solution, I think, is we have to stick together, we have to fight, we have to find a solution and work together to be better. Simple as that.
05:11Do you feel under pressure about the two games?
05:16No, you are under pressure all the time in these jobs, in this situation. That is how it is.
05:23I know the territory, I know what comes with poor results and I accept my responsibility.
05:32How much did you make of your opponent?
05:35I think it is unfair to single anybody out as an individual. I think, collectively, it was too easy to score against us.
05:46So, I take my responsibility and I have to look at myself and do better.
05:53I think that has been the case for all the players because I know they are honest and they want to do more than they are at the moment.
06:01Is it too early to say that you are in a relegation fight?
06:05You can say whatever you want, Jacob. Whenever you want it.
06:12I thought, yeah, that was your last question. There is a lot of other people here that might want to ask a question.
06:19I think I have answered that.
06:24I don't see it that way at all. We have played two matches.
06:48No, I don't see it like that at all.
06:55You have also been working closely with David Sullivan this summer on the recruitment.
06:58What is that relationship like and do you think it works for building an effective Premier League sport?
07:04I have been working well with the Chairman and the Board. They have been really supportive.
07:09We need to try to find some solutions together, which I am sure we will.
