00:40The Department of Tourism seeks 3.7 billion pesos in funding for 2026 to bolster tourism
00:48promotions, a 3% decrease from its 2025 budget.
00:52While the Office of the Secretary's proposed budget rose by 2% to 3.1 billion pesos, funding
00:59for the Intermuros Administration and the National Parks Development Committee dropped significantly.
01:05The tourism department is also requesting 500 million pesos for branding and promotions,
01:10nearly five times the 100 million pesos allocated for 2025.
01:16Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco explains that Congress cut this budget by about 80% over
01:21the past two years.
01:23She also notes that the 100 million pesos is small compared to the multi-million dollar
01:27promotion budgets of other Southeast Asian countries.
01:33A Cebu court dismisses the case against Cebuana artist Maria Victoria Bambi Beltran who was
01:38accused of spreading quote-unquote fake news during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
01:45The Regional Trial Court Branch 14 in Cebu City granted the demurre to evidence in an order
01:49dated August 14.
01:52She was arrested on April 18, 2020 for a Facebook post regarding the surge of COVID-19 cases in
01:57Sitio Zapatera, Barangay Luz, Cebu City.
02:01She wrote, 9,000-plus new cases, all from Zapatera, of COVID-19 in Cebu City in one day.
02:08We are now the epicenter in the whole solar system.
02:12The late Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella shared Beltran's post and warned her she would be
02:17arrested for spreading quote-unquote fake news.
02:21The same day, Beltran was arrested without warrant and detained for three days.
02:25Beltran was charged with the following.
02:31On August 17, 2020, a Cebu court dismissed the cyber libel case against Beltran for lack
02:36of jurisdiction.
02:37In September 2020, the same Cebu court dismissed the cases related to violation of RA 11469
02:44and RA 11332.
02:47Beltran is an award-winning writer and recipient of the 2020 Deutsche Vela Freedom of Speech
02:51Award.
02:55Filipina tennis ace Alex Ayala will go against a formidable foe as she makes her main draw
03:00debut in the US Open in New York.
03:03Ayala battles world No. 15 Clara Towson of Denmark in the opening round of the fourth
03:08and final Grand Slam event of the year.
03:10The game is tentatively scheduled on Sunday night, August 24, Manila time.

03:56This after allegedly charging at law enforcement officers.
04:01The reported assault occurred after the rapper was spotted walking in his underwear in California,
04:05who was also taken to the hospital for treatment for a possible overdose.
04:10His records showed that the rapper was arrested in the morning and was being held in jail in
04:15Van Nuys, California on Thursday afternoon.
04:19Lil Nas X was the first openly gay man to receive a country music association award for
04:23his song Old Town Road, which also earned him two Grammy Awards.
04:30Beanie announces its plans during a photojournal signing event for fans in Quezon City.
