00:00Kate Isaacs is a founder of Not Your Porn,
00:03a group that has successfully campaigned
00:05to have huge amounts of non-consensual porn
00:08removed from the internet.
00:10But two years ago, she found herself targeted
00:12in a revenge attack.
00:14I remember that feeling of, like, hot,
00:17rushing to, like, my face.
00:19This panic just washed over me,
00:22and just, I couldn't even think clearly in that moment.
00:25I splashed cold water on my face
00:27to try and, like, cool myself down.
00:29And it wasn't until that moment I realised,
00:30I was like, wait, I don't think that's me.
00:32Someone created a pornographic video of Kate
00:35using deepfake technology.
00:37Start thinking about your family.
00:39Like, what would they, what would, like,
00:40how would they feel if they saw this content?
00:46Sorry.
00:47There is currently no law in England and Wales
00:49protecting people like Kate
00:51who are victims of deepfake pornography.
00:53And 2019 research from the Netherlands
00:56shows that as many as 96% of deepfake videos online
01:00are porn videos,
01:01with the overwhelming majority made without consent.
01:05Our team infiltrated online forums
01:08and spoke to the owner of the biggest
01:10deepfake pornography website,
01:12which currently gets 13 million visits a month.
01:15His words are spoken by an actor,
01:17and we've also used deepfake technology.
01:20I think that as long as you're not trying to pass it off
01:22as a real thing,
01:23that should really matter because it's basically fake.
01:25I don't really feel that consent is required.
01:27So we basically only allow celebrities to be uploaded.
01:32Politicians are in the public domain,
01:34so we consider them to be celebrities.
01:36The way I see it,
01:37they're able to deal with it in a different way.
01:39They can just brush it off.
01:41Part of me is in denial about the impact on women.
01:44I can see where women are coming from.
01:46I get that there's a cause.
01:48Well, the psychological effects can,
01:51can of course affect celebrities as much as non-celebrities.
01:54It can affect anybody. I haven't told my wife.
01:59I'm also afraid of how it might affect her
02:02knowing that I work on something like this.
02:05But it's not only celebrities and politicians
02:07who are affected.
02:09Our investigation spoke to ordinary women
02:11who were edited into deepfake videos
02:13without their consent.
02:15As for Kate, her experience had a profound effect on her.
02:19Despite this, she wants to continue her campaigning work.
02:23But I'm not gonna let them win.
02:24Because what does that even say then at the end of the day?
02:28And I'll use my experiences now.
02:31I think maybe I needed them in a weird way.
02:33Like, I'm not saying anyone needs abuse,
02:35but like, it's helped me get another perspective
02:38on this issue that I didn't necessarily have before.
02:41I'm gonna keep going.
02:43I'm 100% gonna keep going.
