00:06Philippine Ambassador to the United States Babe Romualdez confirms the request was filed in June,
00:11and documents were being followed up now. Manila's justice officials say there's no
00:16information yet on the said U.S. request. Rodrigo Duterte Allied and Doomsday Preacher
00:21Quibuloy was arrested in September 2024. He is facing criminal cases in the country,
00:26a human trafficking case at a Pasig City court, and separate cases of sexual abuse of a minor and
00:31child in Quezon City. A U.S. extradition is on the table because Quibuloy is also on the Federal
00:36Bureau of Investigation's most wanted list since 2021 after he was charged for sexual trafficking.
00:42Local rules do not allow extradition of people with pending cases in the Philippines.
00:47But DOJ spokesperson Assistant Secretary Mikuk Lavano notes courts retain the power to act
00:52on cases with urgency. So if circumstances warrant, we may move to resolve proceedings
00:57in order not to duly delay a valid extradition request.
