A new challenge awaits T&T's young sprint star Dylan Woodruffe. The athlete has proven he's one to look out for after impressing at the CARIFTA Games. Now, he begins a new journey at the University of Miami where he is hoping to make his parents proud.
00:00Well, this week marks another important period in the career of emerging TNT sprinter Dylan Woodruff.
00:06He started school at the University of Miami on Monday, where he is currently studying environmental science.
00:13He will balance his studies with running.
00:15His father believes he inherited some of his talent on the track from his grandfather, double Olympic medalist Wendell Motley.
00:22No, his grandfather.
00:23His grandfather? He's taking after his grandfather?
00:25No, he's taking after his mother and father.
00:30But his grandfather is the athlete, he's the Olympian, yes.
00:34And that is his mentor.
00:36And I believe, yes, that he takes some genes from there, of course, family genes.
00:43Yes, I run in school, but I was never as good as my son.
00:46Mother run in school, she was pretty good.
00:49So what does Richard Woodruff want for his son?
00:52I want him what is best for him, whether it's four, two, or one.
00:56He likes the one, he likes the two.
01:00He's also good in the four.
01:02It will involve whichever one that he chooses, or the school chooses for him, or choose for himself.
01:11He thinks his growth in the sport has been incredible so far.
01:14I think it's a dream to see my son and his growth, and how we take to interviews, how we speak on an interview, and how humbly he is as an individual.
01:34I like that.
01:35I think for a son and a parent, I'm so proud of him.
