00:08:45because it was originally settled by Scandinavians,
00:08:48the direct descendants of the Vikings.
00:08:50Really? Yeah.

00:08:58Remember Eric the Red?
00:09:00He was great.
00:09:06Eric the Red, he was like six feet seven,
00:09:09and he had red hair,
00:09:11and he would shave parts of it,
00:09:13so it was really weird looking.
00:09:15And then he would get up to the microphone
00:09:17and then he would stick it inside of his mouth,
00:09:19and then he'd start singing like,
00:09:20Oh, my God.
00:09:21G&H.

00:22:04In the 10th century,
00:22:06Viking marauders ruled the North Sea
00:22:08and ranged as far as the Mediterranean
00:22:10and North America.
00:22:12The Vikings were ferocious warriors.
00:22:14The most feared of these ancient pirates
00:22:16were those that not only fought
00:22:18with a bloodlusting frenzy,
00:22:20but were also known to eat
00:22:22the flesh of their human fate.
00:22:26They were called berserkers.
00:22:30These berserkers were used as the first line of assault
00:22:34in Viking raids.
00:22:36They wore bearskin robes,
00:22:38some with bare snout masks
00:22:40that they had killed with their own hands.
00:22:42These snout masks were the upper jaw of the bear
00:22:44with the canine teeth exposed
00:22:46which they used to tear the flesh of their prey.
00:22:50These snout masks were strapped
00:22:52to the heads of these men
00:22:54who because of their treatment,
00:22:56the vicious nature of the acts they committed
00:22:58and the sometimes drug-induced frenzy
00:23:00they were forced to endure
00:23:02eventually went mad.
00:23:06When a berserk became too much
00:23:08for even their fellow Vikings to control,
00:23:10they would be kept in cages
00:23:12and fed raw meat,
00:23:14human and otherwise.
00:23:16When a raid was planned,
00:23:18they would be decaged,
00:23:20chained and placed in the bow
00:23:22of the Viking boats.
00:23:24They would huddle down in their bearskin robes
00:23:26waiting for the boats to land.
00:23:28When the sound of the boat hitting the shore was heard,
00:23:30they would be released by their handlers.
00:23:32They'd leap out of the boat in a howling frenzy
00:23:34attacking any living thing in their path.
00:23:36They would fight in a blood-lusting frenzy
00:23:40until they finally fell down,
00:23:42exhausted.
00:23:44Only after the berserkers had completed
00:23:48this first assault,
00:23:50would the other warriors join in the battle
00:23:52and now clean up operations,
00:23:54which included re-chaining their berserkers
00:23:56who were often involved
00:23:58in eating their slaughtered prey.
00:24:02It is believed by many persons
00:24:04of Viking heritage
00:24:06that berserkers who ate human flesh
00:24:08can never enjoy
00:24:10the forgiving peace of a restful death.
00:24:12They are forced to forever revisit the earth
00:24:16by possessing,
00:24:18possessing the body of a blood relative.
00:24:22It is said that living humans
00:24:24who are direct descendants of the berserk
00:24:26will always be in danger of being possessed by them.
00:24:30This possession by the berserk
00:24:32will cause the death of the possessed,
00:24:34and ultimately the extinction
00:24:36of the entire berserker bloodline.
00:24:38Mike!
00:24:40It's me!
00:24:42Hey, come on, Mike!
00:24:44It's Mike! It's me!
00:24:46Hey, come on, man!
00:24:47Enough's enough!
00:24:48Where'd you get that thing, anyway?
00:24:50No, no, I found it in the woods.
00:24:52Some cross-country skier dropped it.
00:24:54It was a joke!
00:24:55It was a joke!
00:24:56It was a joke!
00:24:57Come on!
00:24:58Yeah.
00:24:59Well, actually, it was a pretty good scare, huh?
00:25:01Yeah.
00:25:02Yeah.

00:25:09Alright!

00:25:14I'm...
00:25:15I don't see it.
00:25:16I don't see it.

00:31:23This place holds a lot of memories for me.
00:31:32My dad and I used to come up here.
00:31:38Ever since I was four or five years old, we'd come up here and go fishing and camping.
00:31:45Just relax.
00:31:47It was the only time I ever got to really know him.
00:31:49The rest of the year, he was a real bastard.
00:31:59And then he'd bring me up here, and we'd leave the city and work.
00:32:03And he would just mellow out.
00:32:07Sounds like you're missing.
00:32:09Yeah.
00:32:11I never thought I would.
00:32:14But up here, I do.
00:32:19Why'd you stop coming up here?
00:32:26About six years ago, there was a rumor a little girl got mauled by a bear.
00:32:30A bear?
00:32:31It turned out it was just a rumor.
00:32:34They found her body in the river a few weeks later.
00:32:37She was real torn up.
00:32:40But they figured that happened when she was washed down the rocks in the river.
00:32:46Right after that, Dad took off for a good.
00:32:49But five years later, I returned with my faithful companions.
00:33:02It's too bad you couldn't get the sergeant campground, weren't your dad?
00:33:06Oh, yeah.
00:33:07Well, this place is fine.
00:33:08It really looks the same.
00:33:10It's fine.
00:33:11It's fine.
00:33:11It's fine.
00:33:12Well, Mr. Boy Scout, I've got a question for you.
00:33:17Shoot.
00:33:18Where does one, you know...
00:33:21You know.
00:33:25You know, yeah, you know.
00:33:27Well, see, that could be a lot of things.
00:33:28That could be, you know, and then that could be, um...
00:33:32Oh, cut it out.
00:33:34You know what I mean.
00:33:36I think you find the nearest tree, Chris.
00:33:39Yeah, that's what I was afraid of.
00:33:44Hey, be careful.
00:33:47Remember what happened to that little girl.
00:33:49Very funny.
00:33:50I'm serious.
00:33:51I'm serious.
00:34:21I'm serious.
00:34:26Happy?
00:34:32Happy?
00:34:34Hey, cousin, you there?
00:34:36Yeah.
00:34:37It's a place out there.
00:34:42Oh.
00:34:44What the hell are you doing here, Paul?
00:34:45It's going to be goddamn near midnight.
00:34:47He's come back from the Miller place.
00:34:49I'm looking for those kids. There's nobody there.
00:34:52No?
00:34:53I looked all around the place.
00:34:55Doesn't look like anybody's been there for a month or more.
00:34:59You sure you sent them out to the Miller place?
00:35:02There's nowhere else they could have gone.
00:35:04Oh, wait, wait, wait.
00:35:06Wait a minute. I think I know what happened.
00:35:08You remember I tell you about that Josh Venter, how he used to be here before?
00:35:12He always stay at the sergeant place.
00:35:15I bet he took those kids out there just because I told him not to.
00:35:20I thought Homer and Edna Roberts were staying out the sergeant place.
00:35:27Yeah, yeah, but you see, they never use the cab and they is always putting up the tent, you know.
00:35:33What's tomorrow? Is Wednesday?
00:35:35Yeah.
00:35:36Well, tomorrow morning early, I got to go out and bring them in back here.
00:35:40I tell you what, I look in the sergeant cabin.
00:35:43I'll bet I find them kids there.
00:35:45All safe and snuggle, used like bugs.
00:35:49I hope you're right.
00:35:52What do you mean you hope I'm right?
00:35:53Of course I'm right. That's what they are.
00:35:55Now you go on home, you get some sleep off.
00:36:00All right.

00:39:21I mean, I can't find my way back to the cabin.
00:39:23Well, if you head straight back that way, you'll be there in two minutes.
00:39:25Okay.

01:00:31So I know where we are.
01:00:32The cabin's about two minutes straight that way.
01:00:34Are you sure?
01:00:35Positive.
01:00:36This is near where we met Christy.
01:00:37My body's what scared Shelly in the first place.
01:00:38Mike, do you know where the cabin is?
01:00:39I do.
01:00:40Okay, take Kathy, go there, get my truck, and for God's sakes, get help.

01:01:20Are you kidding me?
01:01:21I am kidding me.
01:01:22Zub.
