Avant d'être finalement maîtrisées, les flammes provoqueront la mort de 85 personnes, le déplacement d'environ 50 000 résidents et la destruction de 95 % des édifices locaux. Cet incendie est à la fois le plus meurtrier des Etats-Unis en un siècle et le plus ravageur de toute l'histoire de la Californie. Malgré l'ampleur de la dévastation et du drame humain, un mois plus tard, les habitants prennent la décision de reconstruire leur ville.. 00:05This has, uh, got potential for a major incident.

00:13We are 100% surrounded by fire.

00:20November 8th at 7.30 in the morning, this town started to burn down.

00:25Within three hours, it was gone.

00:27The state's deadliest and most destructive wildfire in history.

00:33The town of Paradise is basically ash.

00:38I lost my house, too.

00:39I'll tell you what, it's not easy.

00:41No, it's not, but we're alive!

00:45It's not just that I lost my house.

00:48My entire way of life is completely gone.

00:51As hard as it is to say that, I don't see the town coming back.

01:00I thought it would get easier as time went on, but it's actually getting harder.

01:07At the end of the day, I have nowhere to go.

01:10Paradise water may not be drinkable for up to three years.

01:13We have to make them pay for everything, because it's going to happen again if we don't.

01:17Don't we have a responsibility to stop building if it's going to be in areas that are not defensible?
